It's taken me awhile to write this review, as we very recently had to put our beloved Domo to sleep after battling an unknown disease.We started seeing Dr. Santora about a year ago when we were seeking a second opinion on our pup's unknown illness. She was loving, caring, professional and genuinely cares about us as pet parents and our pet. Every time she saw Domo she would sit on the floor with him and talk to him and treat him like a real "person" - versus other vets who generally just stand around and talk over the pets. She explored many different medications and options with us, spent countless hours on the phone with me even late at night after the hospital had closed discussing possibilities and my questions/concerns. Even on her off days she would call to check in with me.When at last we ran out of options and our Domo's health deteriorated to the point where we were being selfish not letting him go, she came to our house on her day off to put him to sleep. This was probably one of the most painful and traumatic experiences for both me and my husband and she handled it professionally but in a warm and loving way. The staff is very nice HOWEVER you call to get a price of a service before making an apt and they give you price then they UP charge OVER 100$ more than they quoted. I would NOT recommend for the pure fact you never know what they will charge you and that’s bad business if you tell customers one price you own it. I have a puppy and would love to have stayed for years with them but I will never return for pure principle. 150$ for an ear cleaning is INSANE !!! Dr. Digrazia is patient and professional.She will discuss all treatment options, but also takes the approach that oftentimes doing less is more.We did not feel rushed, and we're able to ask numerous questions addressing all of our concerns, (we had a list) despite having to wait for a dog emergency that was carried through the door. We were thanked for our patience by Stephanie who also apologized for the minor wait. We totally understood! As loving cat parents to our fur baby Oscar, we also feel very comfortable and really respected as a couple.My only wish is that the waiting area separated cats from dogs. Read Less

I have been visiting this animal hospital since 1998. I live in NYC and continue to bring my dogs here. I have never had a complaint about the hospital. It is important for a person coming from out of town to be open to parking on side and parallel streets as there is only metered parking in the front of the building. The doctors are highly skilled and provide the absolute best care possible. Dr DiGrazia is a gem and has absolutely contributed to my dogs having long lives. Like any hospital, there can be a wait at times so I suggest arriving early. Everyone in this establishment cares about the pets and I have boarded my dogs here countless times. Over a period of many years, I have had seven cats seen at NHPAH.  Each one has been treated with great care and compassion.  They've been through diabetes, cancer, epilepsy, renal failure and IBD.  Whether it's routine care or a difficult diagnosis, I have total confidence in their expertise.  Dr. DiGrazia has gone above and beyond at every turn.  The vet techs and assistants are wonderful.  Even after moving almost 250 miles away, I make the trip back.  There is no better care. In the mid 1990s, I took my white German Shephard, Mocha, to see Dr. Kolins for a second opinion after she suffered from a variety of serious problems that no other vet seemed to diagnose correctly. To make a long story short, Dr. Kolins literally saved Mocha’s life and there began my long association with New Hyde Park Animal Hospital. Thereafter, I have had the privilege to have Dr. Santora and Dr. DiGrazia care for three more dogs, including my present dog, Pax. Both vets are extremely professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. It is not unusual for Dr. Santora to spend quality time with my dog before examination so that she (and I) are calm and comfortable throughout the process. In addition to providing excellent medical care for my dog, she is patient with all my questions and provides down-to-earth guidance and assistance with all my dogs’ needs throughout their lives. Dr. DiGrazia helped me to survive two difficult situations (one with my 14 year old beloved dog, Bella, and another with a new/young rescued dog), often giving up her own personal time to answer all my questions and to assist me in making very hard decisions (probably two of the hardest decisions I ever had to make in my life). As far as the office staff, everyone – from the receptionists to the techs – is polite, friendly and helpful. My dog and I always feel comfortable when we walk in the office, too. We've been bringing our rescue dog here for nine years.  We booked a routine dental cleaning.  I was given a detailed written cost estimate for the cleaning with possible extractions by Dr. Santora and even reviewed it with Dr. Pelligrino three days before the scheduled procedure.  The written price agreement included a "low" and "high" amount.  Upon my arrival, I was given a "new written price quote" of $825, nearly $200 more than the high estimate we reviewed just three days prior with Dr. Pelligrino.  Although we like the medical care, the billing practices are unclear and unethical.  This was especially disturbing since my dog was prepared for the procedure, had not eaten anything and was being dropped off.  You're sort of trapped with the surprise billing since you're already there with the animal. My folks just came from this place after being recommended by a friend and since they're not computer savvy I'm writing this for them because I too am upset that they were taken advantage of. They took our cat in for a check-up that was supposed to cost $51. Our cat was fine thank goodness but the vet saw some flea dust and said she was going to GIVE them something for it. The bill went up to $139!!! They never recommended that they should buy it, there was no option, just tacked it on the bill. How do you do that to people?! Also, the older secretary was extremely rude to them. My mom likes everyone and didn't even like this woman. Very cold and unpleasant. Highly incapable staff, nothing that I was promised I received other then a ruined vacation, and inflated bill that was fluffed with unnecessary add on's geared solely  to line their pockets ,and a loved one that now has a paw fungus after being facilitated at this establishment due to their unsanitary conditions! We brought in our 5month old mini schnauzer for her very first Vet visit since we got her. We were kinda apprehensive at first since we didnt know what to expect (as this is our first pet and vet visit as well) but the moment that we stepped in the wonderful staff greeted us with so much enthusiasm that we felt at ease right away! Everyone was so warm and welcoming. The place being clean and spotless is icing on the cake. Dr. Lynn Santora was simply amazing and clearly explained to us everything we have to know about our puppy and her age appropriate vaccines among others. We took our pup Cocoa here for the 2nd time last night. He's getting older (12 years) and is showing signs of age. Dr. DiGrazia is simply wonderful and amazing. We talked about all the things he's been doing and going through, and she took us through all the possible reasons why, and then gave us options for his treatment. She is thorough, has a great demeanor, and is very knowledgeable. The staff is so friendly - asking about Cocoa and engaging in conversation while we waited. And let's talk about that - NO WAITING!!! Both times we waited less than 5 minutes and saw Dr. DiGrazia right away. It's clear that they manage the doctor's time very well at NHP Animal Hospital. We had wonderful experience recently on our dog's first visit here. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.  They made our dog feel so welcome.  I had never heard so many compliments for her.  She tends to be very nervous at the vet and the staff really catered to her.All work was done in front of us including blood work which was a first.  It was a welcomed change.  We are so happy to have found a new vet and will be booking our next appointment in the near future. I'm so happy I choose to bring my pup here!. I had been looking around for a vet that was near home but would also provide my pup with great care. This place is exactly it ! I took my pup here for his vaccinations & he saw Dr. Howard before she began she went through the different vaccines he would need what they are for & the time period she recommended doing them previously I went to another vet & they did none of this they just told me what shots he needed without bothering to tell me what they are for so I really appreciated her doing this as I am a first time pet owner . They also provided me with a puppy starter kit which was also pretty cool . The office is very clean front desk staff is friendly & to top it all off the day after my pup got his vaccine they called to check up on him & see how he was doing ! Last September I adopted Sebastian, a cat with medical needs, most which were unknown to me at the time. I fell in love with him the moment I saw him and not taking care of him was not an option. But money and a trusted vet was. A friend of mine recommended New Hyde Park Animal Hospital, due to their compassion and fair prices. From the moment Dr. DiGrazia meet and evaluated Sebastian by hand, from head to paw, I knew he was in the right hands. We meet again after the blood work came back, and she told me he was a very sick cat but we could (try) to improve his quality of life with a course treatments. From the start she took the time to explain the options, effects and cost and together we provided over a year of love and care for Sebastian.Then last week, she explained that the time had come to give him eternal peace. Really great place! super happy I chose to bring my dog here. Everyone that works there is excellent. Very friendly and informative. Definitely a great environment. The wait area isn't really big but there were always seats when I went and I'm sure they would find a seat for you if you needed one. Parking is tricky. I wasn't sure if dunkin donuts allowed me to park there (they are right next to each other) but I managed to find parking right in front. I also found that they are affordable. Other places wouldn't even give me an estimate, but New Hyde Park Animal Hospital gave me an honest price range. The staff and doctors are really helpful, informative, caring, and affectionate to your pet. They treat them just like family. I'm really grateful I found this place. Read Less

Dr. Santoras positive reviews are well deserved. I took my cat for her annual exam after moving to new hyde park. She was patient and loving with my cat, even when my cat was a bit angry to put it nicely. We also got a teeth cleaning scheduled about a month later and I appreciated that dr santora made it a point to schedule on a day when she could be there, too. She also called me personally to let me know what was going on and how ultimately everything turned out. I appreciate the personal interest she takes in her patients. Something to note though is that you will need to speak to her directly to get that kind of attention. Her office staff are very nice but don't necessarily initiate dr. Dr. De Grazia and the team of professionals really went above and beyond in the care of my Dog Buddy.  Their recommendations were spot on with him and they really worked with Buddy for as long as they could and guided us to VCA in Westbury which just as terrific.  Everything was seamless and unfortunately my Buddy had transitioned over the bridge, but I really feel that he wouldn't have had the courage or the fight in him if New Hyde Animal Hospital did not aggressively treat him.My other dog Kobe had been to New Hyde Park weeks earlier as a result of terrible treatment at Plainview but was given the utmost care by Dr. Harmon in New Hyde Park.The level of professionalism care, compassion and commitment resonates throughout this office and it truly shows! I took my Charlie to NHPAH for 12 years, he only saw Dr. DiGrazia she always made me feel like my Charlie was the most important dog she saw.  Her staff was so professional.  Charlie had to be put down last week Dr. Digrazia and her staff were so wonderful to me at the end. Because my pets are so old (12 to 19 years) we are frequent flyers here and the staff is unfailingly kind, caring and compassionate. Great staff, have been a client for about 10 years . Dr Digrazia is wonderful . She loves animals and it shows. Truly knowledgeable in every aspect. I lost my baby about 2 months ago . Great place! Called them on Saturday with an emergency case of blood in my dog's stool and they were quick to accommodate even though they were fully booked. they greeted my dog and I as soon as we entered and were immediately in love with him, swooning over him and making us feel right at home. though this place is too far away to use as our regular vet i definitely recommend for those that live close enough to this place! As a new resident to the area, I had to find a new vet to care for my 11 year-old Yorkie. I decided on NHPAH because of the great ratings my fellow Yelpers gave it and I was more than satisfied. Dr. Rosenbloom was simply amazing along with her staff. She did a thorough exam on my Bebe with the best patience ever. Her vet tech was equally professional and they both explained each part of the exam. I had absolutely no reservations leaving my four-legged child for the weekend and when I returned a few days later, my Yorkie seemed reluctant to even go home with me! Dr. Rosenbloom called me later that day to explain in detail all the test results from the bloodworm done and had clearly done research into drug interactions as she offered suggestions for allergy relief. Every time I thought she was done explaining everything, she had more!This is the absolute best animal care facility I have been to in all my years of being a pet owner. No pressure was put on me to purchase anything. In fact, Dr. Rosenbloom was forthright in letting me know what vaccinations/treatments could be postponed and what was absolutely necessary. Our cat got sick and we put  him in New Hyde Park Animal Hospital on Thursday. Our cat was a regular patient. On Saturday, the vet called and informed us that the cat had died. We then made arrangements then for the cat to be cremated and the ashes be sent to us. We were told that the body would be sent out Monday and the ashes returned the following Monday. On Monday, we got a call advising us of the bill (of which the cremation was only a small part), We thought calling so soon  was insensitive.We were not told to pay the bill immediately. On Thursday, we got a call saying that the cat's body was still out because we had yet to pay the bill.This would also possibly delay the cremation one week and the return of the ashes one week.  We were never told that the bill had to be paid in advance of the cremation and anticipated paying the bill when we picked up the ashes. The vet would not even allow us to pay the cremation part of the bill. We had to pay the entire bill on Thursday. They essentially used the cat's cremation, and its delay, as a wedge to get their money right away and said this was "policy". This treatment of our pet was upsetting and neither should owners  be treated that way . Read Less

We know this animal hospital pretty well because we've had two dogs that needed quite a bit of care. We see Dr. Santora, but also like Dr. DiGrazia and Dr. Kolins. The vet techs are also great, and come out to the waiting room to give our dogs belly rubs. We really like everyone who works here. We also board our dogs at the animal hospital; the prices are reasonable and we feel safe knowing they'll get medical attention if they need it. Read Less
