To preface, this office has been my preferred place to bring my dogs, as well as being the trusted clinic between my family and friends. I personally have loved each and every experience with Dr Green, Dr Amy, and various others over the years. I feel my pets are given full attention during their appointment, and I am provided with well rounded knowledge to ensure I am being the best pet mama I can be. We took in a rescue kitten at 4 weeks old back in 2021. She was not yet spayed, and noticed several boba tea-like lumps along her belly on a Friday night. By Monday, they felt as though they had tripled. I had a pre-spay appointment with a different vet scheduled for mid June; this vet accepts the friends of animals certificates for spay and neutering to help with costs. Otherwise all appointments are through Bloomingrove out of trust and preference on a regular basis. As I typically trust Bloomingrove most, I called Monday morning and got an appointment for the same day. I was booked with a Dr I had not met previously, but this was of no concern to me as I assumed all Dr's were as wonderful as one's I'd previously met there. Unfortunately, this appointment was, shockingly, the worst experience I've ever gone through, and more importantly, traumatizing for my cat's first visit. Unfortunately due to character limits, I cannot elaborate in full detail. I will post to the BBB + their FB page with full detail regarding this matter. I had several conversations with Pam and another Manager, whom denied validity of my concerns, argued the integrity of a clinic I had to bring my cat to in which - they were able to do a full work up, provide results, handle my pet with care, and communicate effectively. Eventually, they agreed to refund the duplicate testing from the other clinic if I submitted the itemized bill. I advised based on the tone seemingly more concerned about bad mouthing other vets, I was not comfortable submitting the bill, but they were welcome to call themselves - however - I still request a full credit due to a horrible appointment in which I left with a traumatized cat and had to seek help from elsewhere to get answers. Not just duplicate charging. Due to not being comfortable sending the records over and still requesting a full credit, I was told I am banned from Bloomingrove, attorney's would be called if I call, my records for ALL animals would be sent, and was hung up on. I am surprised at the lack of professionalism, curtesy, and animal care provided for my cat. As this was a one off experience, and the unproductive and inappropriate calls were from the managers, I am deeply saddened that I will have to seek care for my dogs who know no other clinic. Mo, Mariah, Spice, and I will miss having a pre-established trust and bond with Dr Green due to the inability for the management to correct a one off and horrible experience. Please note, I have never had anything short of an excellent experience here until meeting with this Dr for the first time. I write this to serve as a caution around poor and unprofessional management, and perhaps this 1 Dr, as all others have been absolutely wonderful. Read Less

I can't speak highly enough about not only the veterinarians but their techs and staff as well. Everyone goes above and beyond to bring your pets the best care possible. Dr. Stone is my favorite, but they are all excellent vets! I got my first dog 6 years ago and had brought her to a few different vets that left me feeling uneasy. After deciding to get a puppy last spring we decided to try a new spot upon HIGH recommendation from a good friend. On our first visit I realized very quickly that the service my dog had been receiving prior was nothing short of shoddy. I used to think "Why didn't my vet tell me this when she was a puppy, I would have done XYZ to make sure this never happened in the first place". They truly give you all the information you need to make informed decisions reguarding your pets best interest. Needless to say, I have never felt better about the health care my dogs receive. My mom brought out cat here today after we had a difficult time at our regular Vet of over 35 years. They were not on caring and kind to my mom and our cat, but they took extra time to explain things, listen, and thoroughly examine the cat as well as make the cat feel more comfortable and calm. They even brushed him! There were several issues our previous Vet missed or overlooked. My mom was floored! The only downside to the Vet (which is what I'd heard from past customers) is that they are expensive. My 16 year old cat has arthritis in both hips. She limped badly and was in so much pain that we had to carry her everywhere. I started taking her to Dr. K for acupuncture nine months ago and we started seeing a difference after the first treatment. She goes to the "spa" every three weeks now and hardly ever limps at all. Dr. Desir and staff were outstanding in providing skilled and compassionate care to my dog. Dr. Desir had the experience and expertise, whereas 3 other vets were out of their league and made the wrong treatment recommendations. My dog suffered needlessly until Dr. Desir performed the much needed surgery and monitored her recovery. We are so grateful that Sadie is back to her old self- happy and energetic. This is the best vet in town. The doctors are great and extremely knowledgeable. We had a dog that had health complications and no one could figure out the cause or treatment that could help. One of the vets recommended we go to a specialist vet in Latham and promised we'd be in good hands and she was right. Every time we called Bloomingrove back, they always asked us how our dog was doing - which was very sweet. They even called us directly to check on her, which makes all the difference in the world. I like them. Dr. Stone is the owner. I selected him as our vet as he is known for being very familiar with greyhounds. We have 2 of them and they our world. All of the vets I have seen where polite and knowledgeable. I haven't visited tons of vets so I can't speak regarding prices. Overall a nice place. The only negative I can think of is they are popular so in return they are very busy. So wait times could be shorter and lots of traffic in and out with noisy dogs in the background. Yet again it's a vet hospital so that it almost expected. Dr. Stone is wonderful I specifically request him each time. Read Less

Another vet recommended a extremely aggressive surgery, I went to Bloomingrove for a second opinion the Vet at Bloomingrove took time to listen to my concerns and decided a safer treatment. I took my leopard gecko here for an eye infection. Everyone we dealt with was accommodating and friendly. The reptile vet, Dr. Amy, was knowledgeable and focused holistically on my gecko’s health, determining what supplements and substrate I was using in his tank. Eventually he just needed a vitamin A injection and some eye drops. I appreciated that she didn’t try to sell me products I didn’t need like a lot of vets have done to me in the past. She took the most direct route to solve the problem and left it at that. My bill turned out to be $125 for the exam, injection, and medication which was very reasonable. Do not take your pet to this place unless you are having an emergency, as those cases are more lucrative for them. The office staff treats you like a number and are highly unprofessional! If you like having to wait in a room for close to an hour while your pet is nervously shaking on the metal table have at it. Then, when the Vet does appear and starts speaking to you ;he is pulled out of the room and literally walks away in mid sentence to tend to something else. He returns, and again walks out mid sentence during the conversation. This occured 3 times! There is zero respect for you and your pet. There are many other options in the area. I have always been a fan of Dr. Stone, but losing the love as the business grows and can no longer deal with him. We have spent THOUSANDS of dollars with the practice keeping our pets cared for: no questions asked. When I recently asked why a simple neuter of male pup 7 months old was $450.00, I got a ton of excuses.."we can no longer compete on Heartworm, flea and tick meds"....really? So we were being gouged all along and now pet lovers have choices? Also, "liability insurance"....seriously, how is this practice insurance costs anymore than any other business? When was the last time a Vet had to pay a malpractice claim?Wonderful that Bloomingrove doing great...but Dr. Stone and his wife should get more involved rather than leaving it to the current crew...we are sadly looking for other practices..... I have great experiences with Bloomingrove. We've been going there for at least ten years and mostly see Dr. Stone but I have confidence in every one of them. They are all so kind to my pets, knowledgeable, careful, and caring. The vet techs are terrific, the front desk staff very kind, the wait to get an appointment short. I really appreciate how much time and care Dr. Stone takes to discuss my dog's health and treatment options, and he helps me to make wise decisions and even tells me when he thinks I can save money doing things one way as opposed to another. He even went to bat for me with my pet insurance when they were denying my claims and got their decision reversed. Most of all his rapport with my pets is priceless. I like Dr. Stone, and I also like Dr. Nelson. In the past I had an emergency when my dog had seizures and they were great. However, they have a new office manager, Cathy Rogers, and she is ruining the place. She actually lies. I asked for an appointment with Dr. Stone and she told me he wasn't in and I could see Dr. Nelson. When I got there Dr. Nolan walked in. My cat had stopped eating and I wanted to see a vet I knew. I stopped and spoke with Cathy and she said not to worry because Dr, Nolan was new but came from Parkside and she knew him and his wife and they were wonderful. and Dr. Stone would come in at the end and review everything. Long story short, Dr. Nolan was only there a month, he isn't married (Cathy makes things up) and Dr. Stone never came in at all. When asked, Cathy said said she only said Dr. Stone would LOOK, and she meant afterward. Wow. Dr. Nolan was so new that he did not know what was expected and had to keep leaving the room to ask. The tech was the only really kind and competent one. Their treatment of the cat was very piecemeal, no one seemed to really care. Since both Cathy and Dr. Nolan were new they treated me like I was no one, even though I'd been going for years. My cat died. I will always wonder what would have happened if I'd brought her elsewhere, or had the "privilege" of seeing the doctor I had made the appointment with and paid to see. I am leaving the practice. Although the docs are wonderful, their constant attempt to upcharge everything is disconcerting. $5 to write a prescription, $10 to discard a few hair clippings, the receptionist trying to sell me x-rays BEFORE my dog was even seen. I am very picky when it comes to vet care for my one dog and two cats. I will look for a vet until I feel that it is the right place for my animals. We just moved to Albany, NY area and I needed to find a good vet for my animals. I already tried another vet that I couldnt trust fully. Wow! Excellent treatment from Dr. Nelson today. He spent 40 minutes with me just explaining the problem my dog had. The cost was half of what prior vet estimated. The knowledge of the doctor and the cost and the friendly environment! This was by far the best place I've been to in the 9 years I've owned animals. Was there today w my standard poodle and saw Dr.stone. I've decided to get a second opinion on my dogs prognosis and I'm so glad I did. From a false prognosis done w our vet of 6 years I've don't nothing but worry and stress for the past month (last app I was told to take the wait n watch approach) I was so relieved to get a true diagnosis of what was wrong w her today and to know it was anything major. And that I have some time before she needs surgery. Where as her vet of 6 years states she needed to be operated on ASAP and wanted to take off more then what they needed (in sure it was all just about money for them). I'll gladly be switching all of my pets to this clinic. Dr. Stone was so sincere, and patient w my 4 year old son who asked a million questions lol. We were going on vacation, so my wife and I decided to board our 4 month old puppy with them. Dropped off on sat October 29 -November 5. After spending 4 hour meet and great a few days prior. Which I thought was a little expensive. But nevertheless we used them. Oh I didn't mention These people are her vet also. Needless to say my son was called on that Friday and was told there was a case of kennel cough that she needed antibiotics. Thank god I made appiontment for November 7, she is due for her second round for something. Now she needs antibiotics for kennel cough. I can't wait to go this morning, and ask what kind of boarding are they running (other than expensive 245$ for sat-sat. Ludicrous. Especially When you drop off a healthy puppy and don't receive her back that way.). She's been hacking all Sunday and monday morning. I can't believe they didn't treat her when they knew they had a case of kennel cough come into there boarding. You better believe I'm going in there this morning screaming!!! Read Less

My pets have been seeing Dr. Stone for over 20 years. He is amazing. He takes his time with your pet and talks to you, answering any questions you may have. He goes above and beyond to get to the bottom of a problem or illness. The other doctor are wonderful as well. They treat pets as small as hamsters and turtles and of course dogs and cats. The best veterinary practice that I have ever been too. I moved to the Capitol district in April and was in need of a vet. So very glad a friend referred me to Bloomigrove! The staff are all very nice and compassionate people. The vets are docs that really listen to you, not just hear you. They treat your pet with competence, caring and as if he or she were the only patient in the office. My five year old and five month old were ill at the same time and this was quite overwhelmed Drs Nelson and Nowack took the time to answer all of my million questions, and still they asked if they could explain anything else! I have had dogs since age 8. Having said that, I have been to many veterinary offices. One of the first things I needed to do after my move to the Capitol District was to find an excellent Vet. I was lucky enough to be referred to Bloomingrove Veterinary Hospital. The staff and the doctors are quite amazing! They are caring, they take the time to " listen" to you not just hear you. These are the best people in the business they put their patients first. When with you and your pet the docs spend as much time as you need with them ( truly as if your pet is the only one in the office) being a " people" nurse myself, I found myself thinking that these docs are answering my million questions and then will still ask if there is any other question I may have. New to the area, of course I needed a new Vet. I have had dogs all of my life, so I have been to many veterinary groups. This practice is by far the best I have ever been to. If I could give them a 10 star rating I would! The staff is caring, and really listen to you when there is any problem with your pet. I have two dogs one is five years old, and the other is five months old. Within two days they both became ill with respiratory infections. BIG thanks to Dr. Nelson and Dr. Nowak for taking such excellent care of them and for answering my million questions!!! I am a " people nurse" and if all " people docs" were as wonderful these two fur baby docs maybe people would keep up with their healthcare needs. Read Less

I came here for the first time yesterday with a cat I just adopted from a shelter. When I first walked in, it looked somewhat busy from what I could tell. It took longer than necessary to be acknowledged from the people at the front desk. I understand that my needs may not be taken care of right away, but a little acknowledgement would have been nice (maybe a hey, I will be right with you). The front desk seemed for the most part unprofessional and unfriendly. After checking in we went into another waiting area. I liked the second area, it was a nice addition and we didn't wait long to be seen. The veterinarians and vet techs were very friendly and thorough answering our questions. Checking out at the next desk was very similar to checking in. It took forever to be acknowledged and we seemed to be more of an annoyance. I don't know if I would return to this specific vet office. I just moved to the area, and wanted to start with a veterinarian clinic close to home, however, I have had a lot more enjoyable visits elsewhere. The vets here are OK. Except for Dr. Green, who is great as well as Dr. Butler. They take a more intelligent approach and do not feed people B.S. when it comes to real veterinary issues. Their office staff are some of the most unprofessional, not customer oriented, and do not communicate well with each other. Have been attending this vet for 2 of my dogs since 2009, and i have just about had it with this place. Ive had important information pertaining to perscriptions, Lab results, non important messages and important messages for the Dr.s, slip through the cracks and not be communicated to the right people countless times, which leaves my husband and I furious. Ive had conversations with their office manager, who also can be unprofessional as well. When i say unprofessional i mean there is a nasty tone in the voice, which makes you raise an eyebrow. The customer doesn't seem to be right there, with their know it all office staff. "Just let me talk to the vet already!! Oh wait, the vet left an hour ago? Thanks for telling me! I'll just sit here and twiddle my thumbs wondering, with my ill dog." Waste of time with terrible receptionists. I have had dogs for decades, and this is the best vet practice I have ever been to. The receptionists, vet techs, and veterinarians are all caring, compassionate and professional. We have two senior dogs, one of whom requires a lot of medical attention, and I have been very happy with this practice. Our particular favorite vet is Dr John Green, who manages to solve every problem that comes up with our seniors and exhibits sensitivity and concern every step of the way. Dr. Nelson has also provided excellent care and advice for our beloved dogs, as has Dr. Coger. I frequently phone this practice with questions and the staff are always so helpful and encouraging. Absolutely love this place. I adopted an older lab and started bringing her here from a friend's recommendation. Fantastic staff! about 2 years ago she got really sick (she was old) and we tried everything we could to find out how to make her better, but it was just her time :( I was there twice in less than 24 hours and they didn't charge me for the second visit and they cried right along with me when it came time to put her down. I now have a 15 month lab pup that I bring there and he loves them as well. My boyfriend has also switched to there as well with his pit. She hates most people, but something about Dr. Greene she just absolutely loves. He's super calm and good with her. Would recommend Bloomingrove to every one! Read Less

This has been my clinic for my dog since I moved up here from Catskill back in 2010. They are very good with my dog who incidently hates going here. As soon as we get out of the car, he turns into a quivering mass of Yorkie. They are understanding of this and treat him accordingly. Techs and Docs alike. This place is clean and bright and doesn't smell like a kennel when you walk in either. They also have daycare and boarding services too, although I haven't used them so I can't review those.Always send me reminder cards in the mail and an email too when it's time for something for Quincy. Always prompt with the appointment times. I never wait more than a few minutes. (Maybe MY doctor's office could learn something?) Anyway, a bit on the pricey side, but I suppose they all are at this point. All the Vets are good, so I don't really have a preference as to which one I go to. I was very happy with the service until recently. I was told my dog needed surgery due to a torn ligament in his knee. They told me he would need x-rays to show the surgeon and they would contact me with the next steps. We had our $200 x-rays a month ago and have not been able to get any more information since then. Called and was told they hadn't hear back from the surgeon yet. Looks like I will be finding a new vet. The techs here are great though. Read Less

I have brought over 10 furbabies to Bloomingrove since they opened and they have always been wonderful for all of us - from simple visits, complicated issues to having to say goodbye. Their staff is even collaborative for difficult issues for those 2nd opinions. I've been coming here for 7 years and have never had a negative experience. The front desk staff has always been pleasant and polite to me, the techs are great with my dog, and the vets are smart and know what they are doing. I was especially pleased with how they handled my -now deceased- cat's treatment when she was having thyroid problems, and ultimately when her kidneys failed. They took the time to teach me how to give subq injections, and sent a card when they learned that she had passed (I had to take her to the E-vet on a weekend when she went downhill and Bloomingrove wasn't open). It is a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. I will never go somewhere else, unless it is an emergency and I have no choice. I also like that they have Saturday hours, so I don't have to take time off of work to bring my dog in. Read Less

Questionable at best. This business seems more about taking your money than caring for your pet. I am in the process of finding another practice after years as a client. I no longer have faith in the doctors, daycare or grooming, which I have used all. I agree with another reviewer - the client is an inconvenience. This review is about Bloomingrove's groomer, Rob Brightly. Rob is the best. I've taken my dogs to him for several years and although one of my dogs isn't easy to groom (she's resistant to the entire process), Rob always does a fabulous job. The dogs are not just bathed and dried. They are groomed for dog shows. If necessary, he's takes a little extra time to try to get to know the dog, but he also isn't afraid of them, so he's able to get the job done. My dogs respect him and the end result has always been a well-groomed dog. I have big dogs (140 and 75 lbs), double-coated Northern breeds. Read Less

Was very pleased with Dr. Green. Went to him seeking a second opinion on our nine year old cat that had been misdiagnosed at a different vet. He reviewed all the medical history, as well as the blood work and was able to give us answers to our questions as well as put our fears to rest. The other place had pushed for unnecessary procedures and tests that would have only benefited them, not us or our cat. And they refused to answer the most basic of questions. I'm so glad we sought a second opinion and found Dr. Green. Next time either one of my pets needs a check up I'll be sure to take them to Bloomingrove Veterinary Hospital. Read Less

I had an incident last summer with this facility and have finally decided to express my concerns. Vets were fine/caring...but the office manager was not pleasant to deal with at all. Not only was she rude but she would not even let me see where my cat would be boarded. She showed me a picture in a brochure but refused to show me where they would board him...saying that they had an open house & I could have seen it then. Although this vet is close to my home, I will not go back. My only hope is that there were enough complaints that this employee is no longer there. Read Less

I hate to write a review about this place. This is the best vet I've been to ever. I've seen some really tough nasty ones! We saw Dr. John Green who is somewhat new and treats exotic animals! I couldn't find anyone else reasonably close to us. We brought our little fire bellied toad that had an eye issue. Dr. Green is calm (which I'm sure is great for skittish dogs/cats) and thorough. He listened and asked questions and was so good with my daughter too when she decided to tell him all about our toad couple. :-) We will definitely use them again for any pet we might have.Read Less

Simply amazing.My pup has been here a few times: once for a well-puppy check and the other time as a follow up for an allergic reaction to some type of insect bite that resulted in her face swelling and her head being covered in hives. Dr. Nelson and Dr. Jones have been wonderful with my pup whose only previous experience with vets was when her first family broke her leg and waited 3 days to get her medical attention (so I'm guessing she doesn't feel too fondly about this). They called me to follow up on how she was doing on the benedryl and after the dexamethasone injection. The vet techs have also been so patient with my dog's unexplainable fear of the scale. But I think the best part is the groomer. Dr. Nelson didn't want to cut my dog's nails because she was thrashing and getting very agitated (he wants her to have good experiences only at the vet so that she becomes easier to examine over time) so suggested that we go to see "The Dog Whisperer" in their grooming department. I was skeptical. But...Rob, The Dog Whisperer, took Reece Thaddaeus Puddinface in the grooming area alone. Reece made some sounds like she was being murdered (or murdering someone), then it got quiet for a few minutes and she came out wagging with all 20 of her nails cut (yup she has front & rear dew claws). It was a miracle. Rob explained the process he went through to get Reece to let him cut her nails. $20 well spent. The man is awesome! Read Less

Always friendly, and helpful. The Vets, the tech, the front staff all have that caring touch. They never seem rough with my boy like other vets in the past have. I really feel good there. Nice clean facility and great atmosphere. They seem a little on the pricey side (not leaving without dropping a hundred at least), but its for my boy so I can pay it. One of the things that comes with taking care of your pet is the trips to the vet. And when you have three at home the little things have this habit of adding up. We have been using a local vet that is within walking distance of our home, and never really had a problem with them. However, every time I mentioned the name of the place to someone I was always told just how expensive they were.Recently my youngest started having some problems with a tumour on his leg. He'd had a spot there since the day we brought him home, but lately it's been getting bigger and very obviously bothering him. We brought him to our usual vet and they suggested we have it removed immediately, and they would be happy to do it for just about $1,000. Listen, I love my animals, each and every one. But when a vet starts throwing numbers like that around we decided to seek a second opinion.We were watching a pair of cats for a friend who was out of town and they left their vet info. They lived just a few blocks away but were going to a vet on the other side of the river. I figured, they trust these people and since they just moved back into the area they had to have done their research recently... we decided to make an appointment.The differences in care between the two vets is like the difference between going to urgent care and seeing your personal doctor. Dr. Stone spoke with us for an hour while sitting on the floor with my dogs (we brought both dogs because the one who needs the care is much happier and calmer with his big brother around). He spent time getting to learn the dogs, beyond reading questions off a chart like a robot.Everyone felt really comfortable around Dr. Stone and we immediately scheduled Jackson's surgery. As it turns out, the estimate will be about a third of what the other vet suggested. I was very frank with Dr, Stone about this and he refused to say a bad word about the other vet. He said he was blessed to be able to do business in another way and that is what he prefers. While it might not be as convenient as walking the dogs to their vet visit, I can certainly say I am happy with the decision to seek a second opinion. Being able to see a specific vet for non-emergency appointments will also be a welcome change. Read Less

I have two big dogs who both require very special care. Dr. Estra and the rest of her staff was extremely patient with all their special needs. It was really nice to be able to go to the vet on SATURDAY so I didnt' have to take off from work. They made me and my dogs feel relaxed and helped us to be less nervous. They really listened to what I had to say and answered all my questions and then some. They didn't try to rush me out the door even when I had already taken up alot of their time.
