One of the most professional veterinary clinics around. The staff is extremely caring and the majority of the doctors treat your pet as if it were their own. Like all hospitals though they have their own individual "bedside manner", so there is no reason to pass judgement on the whole place. We will gladly bring our fur babies in while we live near by. First time here. Had to unexpectedly drop off my recently passed beloved kitty. The staff, she was very empathetic and gentle. A few days later, I received a sympathy card with a kind note. In June 2017 my pet got really sick. I called Pine Woods which was my vet at the time. They wouldn't fit her in even though they were opened till 8pm on a thursday. They couldn't see her friday, Saturday and not even monday. I just had her there on Wednesday for her rehab which I paid a bundle for!! What kind of vet won't see their patients!! I even asked to talk to Dr. Mike and left a message. I called the next day & got the run around on when he was going to call. Neither Dr. Mike or Dr. Aubri called me back. So I decided to try to get a refund for my dog's final 2 rehabs. I called back the following Monday & of course he wasn't there. The next day I received a nasty & unprofessional phone call from someone in their office named Janelle. She left me a message saying that my dog and I are no longer welcomed at their office!!! They screwed up and won't return my money and I'm the bad guy!!! Well....I ended up taking my dog to the ER vet and she was so sick they kept her overnight....tests.... $2,000 later. Recently took my dog in bc she was feeling ill and throwing up for two days ..... everyone at pinewoods is very very nice and helpful. Yes they are kind of expensive, but they always give you options.... I personally would rather be safe then sorry a week later and have peace of mind. Saw a new doc this time and she was awesome....(dr. Rego). Only ever had one bad experience with one of the dr their.... kinda feel like she is a saleswoman, prob the same dr that everyone else is talking about in other reviews. The BEST there is! Credit to Stephanie O, for providing expert support and attention for her expertise in rehabilitation therapy.  Stephanie helped us to get our French Bulldog mobile again after having spinal surgery on his neck due to a traumatic injury.  She taught me how to rehabilitate him between appointments and her patience with us was commendable.  We started out with him barely able to sit up (4 weeks post surgery). After 2-3 sessions he was able to stand and take a few steps on his own.  After a few more sessions he is now mobile, walking, running, and trotting happily on his walks. I loved my cat Roxy very much. When she initially was given to me from a friend, I took her to Pine Woods. They provided good care. It is true that the previous owner did not take her to the vet except once as a kitten and fed the cat a lot of human food. I was blessed to have Roxy until December of 2014 ( she was mine for five years) when I had her put to sleep at another clinic that was open 24/7. Roxy had been diagnosed with kidney disease around 2013.. After the diagnosis I kept taking her back to Pine Woods, with various symptom. Each time I was given a different vet to see and a different approach toward testing or potential treatments. They did not recommend medication for the kidney disease. I was exhausted at times, due to my employment in the social work / ministry field and Roxy becoming ill.. I could not believe that it was never the same vet during the period of months to follow. Were talking of around 6 or more visits, They never truly treated her for the kidney disease, When I finally had to get her to emergency care, the disease had progressed quickly. I was told that had Roxy been given medication at the onset, she would have had a better quality of life in the months she was ill and could have lived much longer or even survived. I cried like a baby when I realized that it was too late and too much money had already been spent without the proper treatment. Now there was no certainty that Roxy would be better, or for any significant period of time. Just days before Christmas, in a place foreign to us both, I held her in my arms and said goodbye. I now go to the clinic that compassionately helped Roxy to die. In May 2015,. I obtained a ten year old fur baby that came to me from a rescue shelter. She literally picked me out as her mommy and needed a forever home. She is given great care in spite of a disability and will be with me for a long time. I truly wish I did not have to write this. I attended a puppy class at pinewoods animal hospital today. It was excellent! The instructor, Jessica, was very knowledgeable and energetic ! Her approach was positive and sensitive to each puppy in the class. Jessica had suggestions to each puppy based on what she saw and what the owner had to say. I would highly recommend this class! I absolutely love Pine Woods. They have taken such great care of my pets. They helped my one dog get over mange after I adopted him, they provided excellent quality of life for my dog with cancer, and they helped another dog beat life threatening Inflammatory Bowel Disease and bouts of pancreatitis. I met with Dr. Aubri yesterday because my 2 year-old pup has been limping and 3 other vets couldn't really figure out the cause of his limp. Dr. Aubri seems optimistic that Physical Therapy can help and was amazing with my baby. By far the best place to take your animal for check ups, minor injuries and surgeries. I love all the vet techs and doctors there. They are very friendly and caring with your pet and make even the craziest of animals feel comfortable ( my pug, top of the crazy list ). They are in no hurry to rush you along even with a constant revolving flow of other pet patients coming in through their doors. And there never seems to be an extended wait, everything runs smoothly. The vet clinic is a separate building than the surgery and rehab center, which to me makes it easier to put the attention and focus onto the animals for the certain reasons they are coming in for. My dog has seen both sides. Recently we have been to the clinic to help heal her poor eye back to health. And she has also been to surgery and recovery when we took her the other year to be fixed. All the vets and vet techs are very knowledgeable and professional and I felt comfortable having my dog in their hands.  P.s. Staff is very pleasant and thorough! I originally went to have my dog spayed because they were one of the only places in the area that accepted the Friends of Animals certificate. I appreciate this because I'm just starting out in my career and was being quoted $400+ other places because of my dog's size. They explained everything and the process was very simple. Since then, I've taken my two dogs to them for checkups and vaccinations and still get the same thorough explanations and everyone is just as pleasant! Very disappointed in this place after they lost Dr. Jim.  Brought my pet in for ear issues and the tech looked at her ears.  Dr. Mike, the owner,  never looked at her ears when he came in, didnt examine her at all.  I was also given mis-information and then later told I had misunderstood the Dr.  It was a simple statement and I am a college graduate.  Say what you mean and mean what you say.Definitely will not be back!  My four pets will stick to Brighton-Eggert. We love Pine Woods, not only for veterinary care, but also for boarding. Our cat, Gus, just spent four days at Pine Woods and he received wonderful care! The absolute only reason that I am even giving them 2 stars is because the receptionists are nice. My cat was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Dr. Jim came to the house to draw blood to make the diagnosis as we have tried multiple times to get her to the vet..she was just off the wall crazy. She bit, scratched and peed on Dr. Jim because she was so scared and he just took it all in stride and laughed, he said it wasn't the first time and it wouldn't be the last. She was prescribed meds for the condition..a 50 day supply, with the understanding she needs another blood test to check her thyroid levels to make sure the meds are at the correct dosage for her. I called Pinewoods to make another appt for Dr. Jim and was told he was no longer there. I explained my situation to them and the receptionist said she would confer with the other vets and get back to me. She never got back to me and when I called them, she was almost kind of arrogantly sarcastic & says " Dr. Mike says no he won't do a house call because he doesn't have the proper equipment to draw blood & that if you get her here we can spray feliaway & or give her a shot to calm her down"....Ummmm what part of the reason Dr. Jim came to the house was because we've tried to get her there and couldn't do you not understand ...but the 1 thing I didn't need to hear was you telling me to call the Greater Buffalo Emergency Clinic because Dr. Jim works there! When I inform you that it's an emergency clinic your response was "oh well, maybe he'll agree to continue seeing her". Dr. Jim & his wife cared about their clients..it appears the remaining staff could really care less and to think I raved about this place initially only to realize in the end it was the 1 doctor who made the experience with them great. So this is a mixed review. I changed it from 2 to 4 stars. Previous experiences has left me with a feeling of a sales driven outfit. However as of late, my pup has not been doing so well. He is getting up there in age and we found out he has cancer. While it has been an expensive endevour, I must say they have turned me around as far as their compassion and willingness to accommodate. They have taken me in twice with no notice and no emergency fee. They made it work and genuinely seemed to care. The second time, Dr. Jim had an interview and he set it aside to see my pup. My other vet (the one I was switching to) would not take me at all without an appointment. I guess in short, yes they are pricey but you get what you pay for. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR DOG, THEY CARE ABOUT YOUR MONEY. They're really a bunch of assholes here. My dog was extremely sick and I took him here as a last resort because my vet had no emergency openings for the day. They took xrays and found an obstruction in his intestine and told me he would need surgery and to stay overnight. Xrays, office visit, etc was $520... surgery would be $3000. He stayed the night and I got a call from the vet the next day (Katie) saying she would actually "rather do an xray and feed him on the hour, every hour because with the IV fluids he was getting, he was feeling better BUT we still may have to do surgery either way but it doesn't look like an obstruction anymore"... so she wanted to charge me $80 per xray... once an hour... to see if this object inside him has moved. Long story short... I told her I couldn't afford that is there any alternative, I was told "I'm sorry, i dont know what to tell you, you're paying for my education and my expertise, so you can come pick him up and transfer him to another vet, we will immediately stop treatment". Called another vet and they were disgusted that this vet even fed him at all if they were even thinking about surgery. Long story short, DON'T GO HERE. Read Less

I honestly couldn't be more happy with how this visit turned out. Me and my fiancé took our pug here for emergency eye exam because her eye was leaking a clear fluid but it want tears it seemed like a gelled substance and it was a swollen shut and we freaked out.When we arrive we are immediately met with a smiling face from the receptionist she asked us out name and our dogs name and said the dr would be up shortly to see us. Two minutes later we were called back to room 3 and it's an awesome room I like the look they have its not like normal vets it has a giant drawing of a dog on the door and the scale has dog prong all over it.Our nurse first took her temperature and did her weight as well as checked her gums and teeth, very thorough. Then she said everything looked fine obviously other then her eye and she was extremely nice she made us feel comfortable in the fact that we were there doing the right thing, then we talked about her own pet experiences and this also made us feel very comfortable.When our Doctor arrived she was very nice immediately introduced her self and shook our hand. She explained what she was going to do and asked us what we could afford if we had any restrictions she needed to know about... That actually was awesome I just want to point out most vets that I have been to one in Particular that did this to us every time just did all these expensive procedures and then charged us a fortune without asking if we could even afford these things and if we said we couldn't seemed like they were trying to intimidate us.What she ended up having to do was put a dye in pugalinas eye to see if she had any cuts or abrasions in which she did of course she had a cut that turned into an ulcer but we caught it extremely early so she's expected to make a full recovery. After explaining everything about the medications to us and all the things each one was going to be used for she advised she wanted to see us in 2 weeks to see pugals progress.Another great thing i would like to point out is that all of these things we went through didn't end up costing an arm and a leg if we would of taken her to the animal eye specialist of western ny the consolation alone would if cost the exact amount pretty much of this entire visit... Insane.Overall I will absolutely be back and I will be bringing my Other pug for all of his issues hopefully he will have none and these will be check ups. Thanks for being awesome pine woods!! After living in NT for years, I feel like I've experienced every single type of vet there is. Some have been better than others, and after a rather awful experience at another veterinarian's office, the family and I ventured to seek a new veterinarian elsewhere.Our pets are not fans of long drives, so that eliminates a large number of 10+ mile drives to other excellent places. After a friend recommended we try this location, it just seemed like a natural fit.We've been taking our pets here for the past six or seven years and we couldn't be happier with the care and love the vets and vet techs provide our pets. Since going there, we've had many tests, many vaccinations, one pet put to sleep, and many phone calls assuring us nothing is wrong. When we put our dog to sleep, Dr. Jenni let us have our time with him and consoled us. They inscribed his paw print into a plaque and sent their condolences after grieving the loss. They were genuine and caring, and provided us with a good experience, even during the worst of times. Dr. Jim and Dr. Lisa stand out as exceptional doctors for our animals, always checking in and making sure our animals are in top health and condition. I'm sure the other doctors in the office are just as great, although I haven't personally had contact with each one.Although the office is always busy, and sometimes you're waiting longer than you expect to, I'm always satisfied with my experience there and the kids (the pets haha) are too. It's kind of difficult finding a reliable veterinarian, because there's so much love and care that goes in to finding the perfect one, but if you live in the area, this place definitely stands out. The atmosphere is quite friendly and feels less like an office than other places I've gone. Most of the time, you end up having a great conversation with the people that are waiting there with you and the lovely women monitoring the front desk.Ah, I can't say enough good things. Since they have added Regis Wojtowicz-Kowalski as their groomer I am so thrilled. Regis is kind,caring and doesn't make me feel like I am a bother when I ask questions.. My Missy loves her and comes prancing out knowing how cute she looks. I know that Regis has taken numerous grooming classes at her own expense and I appreciate her professionalism and kindness. I normally take my pets to Amherst Small Animal Hospital. When I took my dog to Amherst to be spayed, they gave me an estimate of $350 to $450. I refused to pay that kind of money and instead did some research online. Apparently, there a whole bunch of programs out there to help people on welfare who want to have their dog spayed for nothing but it's next to impossible to find a cheap spay program if you're not on welfare. I found this organization called Friend's of Animals and they sell a say cert for only $90! Pine Woods is one of two of the only vets that participate in the program. I took my pup for a free exam where she was looked at by a tech and her vaccine records were reviewed. At that time, they gave me an estimate of $0 for additional charges I might incur based on that exam. I went ahead and had her spayed a week later and as the estimate had stated, there were no additional charges. The total cost I paid was in fact $90. I really like the staff and I think I will be switching my dogs to this vet from now on. They are super friendly and they do not try to push additional services that are not necessary. I just called to get pricing for cat de-clawing. Since my father has leukemia, this isn't exactly something I can wait on, for fear that the cat might accidentally scratch my father. Although the receptionist sounded polite and professional, she stated that they could not give me pricing over the phone, but instead needed to bring the cat in for a "complimentary visit," which would then include discussing the estimates of the cat de-clawing. What a load of annoyance. I really don't have time to waste with bringing my loved cat to 5 different animal clinics just to get the price on cat de-clawing. They know this and are taking advantage by forcing us to bring the cat in in order to get a price for the procedure :-/ Read Less

Having used this practice only once before I was still forming an opinion. With this experience i was out of town when my dog needed urgent care. A dear friend stood in for me and communication for the most part between myself and vets involved was good. Except in one instance I was told by one vet that surgery was necessary and then told the same day by another vet that it wasn't recommended. Additionally I am not convinced that all the vets here have much experience with complicated cases. I am satisifed overall with the medical care she received . I am however very concerned about the over inflated expense and the recommendation of procedures and medication that would have done nothing but make my bill higher. When you walk into the office you can quickly see that there is alot of overhead. I am glad that my dog improved while in their care. I am disappointed I have found yet another practice that expects its vets to be concerned about generating revenue. Reminds me of lawyers and billable hours. $3.00 for a roll of tape. $4.00 to throw away a syringe......Please....... And the IV catheter was changed after 2 days because it was old. It was working fine..... $28.00 That is just a few examples of the unnecessary expense..... This is no reflection on the vets at all. I would probably use them in the future.....at a different facilty. There are vet practices in the area where expenses are much less and the care is as good or better. So if you read this and you go into this facility...ask if what they are suggesting is really necessary. During this visit by doing so I saved $1200+ Surgery never happened and my dog is fine......I got a second opinion. We all want the best for our animals. but do we really have to go broke providing it? Read Less

I took my aging cat who has been sick to them for the first time. When I called they got me in within an hour. Dr. Mike and his staff were friendly, informative and reassuring. They did not try to get me to buy anything, they just did what was necessary to diagnose the problem and help my poor cat. They put her on three medications and taught me how to rehydrate her,(she has early kidney disease), and it did not cost a fortune! They were very reasonable and I highly recommend this animal hospital to anyone interested in finding a permanent vet for their pets. Read Less

We have been going to Pinewoods since they first opened. We have always found the staff to be friendly, courteous and helpful. We have lost several pets over the years and the staff never tried to talk us into using expensive treatments, etc. to try to keep them alive but rather suggested that the kindest thing to do would be to put them down. I just brought my SPCA cat of 6 years here for the first time. He has the feline leukemia virus and chronic conjunctivitis as a result. Unlike other vets I've been to, Dr. Mike did NOT nickel and dime me for various tests, nor did he push steroid therapy (which merely masks the condition and which can result in diabetes and ulcers); rather, he cut to the chase, prescribed 4 helpful medications and kept the costs down. He charged just $37 for the office visit and encouraged me to purchase the prescriptions at local pharmacy (which is nearly always cheaper than what a vet charges!---and, get this--he pointed out that my AAA membership card entitled me to prescription discounts. Update 3/10/09: Employee ""Jude"" is incredibly ignorant. When I phoned to ask how much they'd charge to neuter a male cat I'm thinking about getting, he said he couldn't reveal that on the phone and that I'd have to bring the cat in to find out the cost--ridiculous! We have 2 dogs and a cat. My experience with the first dog was GREAT! My experience with the second (psycho) dog was WONDERFUL! Dr. Mike is gentle and caring and it seems like the dogs sense this. I have never had a good vet experience with my psycho dog but today was the best experience I've had in the 2 1/2 years we've had him...no muzzle, no throwing up, no growling.... For many yrs we had three pets: two dogs and a kitty -- all aging! Dr. Mike and the staff at Pine Wood were fantastic! Anyone with pets understands that a family Vet is similar to a pediatric doc. (that's not saying children are like pets!). Over the course of three years -- all in May -- each of my pets moved onto life beyond here. Dr. Mike and the staff were incredible. When I brought Casey (the cat) Dr. Mike encouraged me to begin adopting younger animals -- I wasn't ready yet. We have been going to Pinewoods Animal Clinic with our animals since they opened. Through all the serious illnesses with our 2 Labs, we have always been treated with kindness. Dr Mike has always been very open & never led us to believe something that was not true with their health. When the end came for both of them, his staff acted like it was their own pet that they had lost. VERY compassionate people. The office is clean, bright & cheerful & every pet is treated with kindness. We have a new Lab puppy & he is just as happy going there as the other 2 were. Dr. Mike is just wonderful. He cares for all of my animals. I have always had a positive experience with him. My dog was run over by a car and the emergency vet wanted us to put her down. Dr Mike saw her immediately the next morning and couldn't help her but referred us to someone who could save her. He has been taking care of her every morning and I am positive that she is in the best hands. He is always just so caring and wonderful to my pets and his staff is so great. I just love him! Read Less
