This place really advocated for us throughout our experience with our dog's neurological issues. We came here after a sour experience with another vet who did not seem to care at all about our concerns. Dr Harper took us seriously and suggested follow up options with a specialist. He was in touch with us through the entire thing, offering advice and doing everything he could to find an answer. We ended up putting our poor boy to sleep after things got much worse and they could not have been more gracious through that difficult experience. We saw Dr Mott who helped us through everything and is now seeing our new dog. I'd highly recommend this vet. Read Less

we have a very recent review of our experiences at Wheatfield. our regular vet couldn't see our dog & we took her on an emergency basis to Wheatfield with a 4-5" gash in her leg. although we weren't regular patients she received the utmost care. she had to stay overnight for observation. we felt the charges were commensurate with the quality of care.last week, my senior cat was very ill & we were again given a quick appointment. doctor was very thorough in her exam & discovered a polyp in the back of her throat. we discussed options & I left with my cat.at no time in either situation did I feel rushed or prodded to take any tests that weren't immediately necessary. the doctors were very patient, caring & professional. all fees & medical advice for various procedures were discussed prior to any testing.we have full confidence in Wheatfield. the staff is friendly, professional & love their animal patients. we've dealt with Drs. Mott (dog) & Dr. Hajec (cat).we have transferred all our pets records to Wheatfield & feel that we will continue to get compassionate care for them. Read Less

I brought my dog Pickles in December of 2017 for a second opinion because Companion care vet said he may heal at home instead of surgery, but surgery could be the likely outcome. Pickles was not getting any better at home after being on a joint supplement prescribe by companion care. Companion care also wants the money all at once. At Wheatfield animal hospital with Dr. Harper, gave me the option of a Care credit plan of which you can make payments. This made it easier on my pocket book and I had the surgery done with Dr. Harper, who also stated that Pickles was in a lot of pain and prescribe pain medicine for him. My dog started to feel better, and when the staples were removed after surgery, he started to put weight on his leg. Soon after he was walking a little more and trusting to use his leg more and more. I am so happy that I decided to go with Wheatfield animal hospital and Dr. Harper when I did and not wait any longer for surgery as my dog may not have done as well as he has. He is walking , running, and doing all the things he did before he tore the ligament in his knee. Dr. Harper did a wonderful job with the surgery and was worth every penny so my Pickles could walk and use his hind leg again.
Thank you Dr. Harper! Read Less

I had left a rather frigid review after we took our dog here for a UTI. I didn't think twice about going to this office again, despite how much more expensive this office is compared to others in the area. I soon realized, however, that there is a reason I chose to take my pets there when they were ill. This is by far the most thorough, compassionate animal hospital in Western NY. I was going to take my cat to another vet that I had used for her check ups, but they were rude to me on the phone so I called this office. I had taken her there before, for an emergency appointment when she had a UTI. I knew that she would have better care when she was ill there than she would have at the other place. Despite the fact that my baby had not gotten her regular care at this office, the entire staff treated us as though they had known us for years. Within minutes, I had an exact diagnosis and was able to make a decision at that visit to give her peace. Today, I picked up my baby's ashes and found the most wonderful card signed by all the members of the staff with so much love that it made me weep again. Thank you. Read Less

What a wonderful place to bring an animal. I brought my dog Bailey there for over the past year for various needs.....staff and Dr. Mott were always so extremely caring, as well as informative. Yes going to the vet is expensive, but that is the price we pay for our pets, to keep them alive, and well, and happy. We had to put Bailey down recently and they could not have handled it better. Exemplary beyond words. They showed the utmost compassion, kindness, and love, not just to our dog, but to us as well, exceeded our expectations. So caring and so loving at her last moments, truly surpassed anything I've ever experienced before. I cannot say enough kind words to describe how much I love this place, and Dr. Mott!! Thank you. Took 3 month old pup to get nails clipped, 3 people pounced on him, one putting him (3month old) in a headlock and the other 2 started to grab when I yelled get the hell off my puppy and left. The loser Vet (Paul) called to tell me that's how they handle problem difficult dogs, I replied he is a 3 month old puppy and you are an idiot. His reply is he has been a Vet since he was born, how stupid does that sound!these Vets need to start caring about the pet and not their damn WALLET. I thought I would never trust another vet with my dog but now not so sure. The front desk staff was wonderful, as usual. The vet didn't seem very caring. My dog appeared to have a sprain. She wanted to treat with acupuncture, xrays while under anesthesia, IV fluids, blood work...for a total of $1800. I instead decided to try medication-muscle relaxant & anti-inflammatory for $100. If that wouldn't have helped I would have opted for more aggressive treatment. Thankfully my dog was back to his old self within the week. Why perform such aggressive treatment without trying the obvious first?! Never even received a follow up call to see how he responded. I may have to re-think my vet options. Read Less

The folks at Weatfield Animal Hospital are truly not carers of animals as evidenced by the young man that was told to leave earlier today because he didn't have $60 with him as he rushed his dog in because he was bleeding heavily from the rectum. Despite offering to come back later with the cash or to have a relative pay for the consultation by phone, Wheatfield Animal Hospital told him they weren't interested and would not help and asked the young man to leave. No signs of compassion or caring whatsoever. I have brought our cats and dog here several times after switching from Pinewoods Animal Hospital after our vet left the practice, and didn't realize how heartless they were here until I saw this incident. Our family has been coming to WAF for over 11 years. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats. We recently had to say goodbye to our Nala who was over 16 years old and I cannot express enough how loving and caring everyone at the office was to our Nala and also my daughter and I. We obviously did not know what the outcome was going to be when we came in that evening (even though we knew our little lion had been sick for some time now) Making the decision to let Nala go in peace and not be in pain anymore was the hardest decision my daughter and I had to do but we knew it was the best for Nala and the WAF staff made this transition the most comfortable that they could possibly make for somebody in this horrible situation. Nala is no longer suffering and he lived a long life! Thank you WAF for all your years of excellent service but especially for taking care of Nala and us when we REALLY needed it most! We received your card and paw print clay remembrance plaques of Nala today and I cannot again say how wonderful you are! Thank you for being so caring and thinking of the "little things". Remembering from the past excellent care for Rebel at Wheatfield. I took my Aunts / mine (was14 year old) cat Boots there also. For the last 11 years up to Boots Euthanasia in August 2016. I had the best medical team, They always called me a few days after a sick visit. or hospitalized to see how he was doing and if there was anything they could do for me. "If there is anything we can do just call us we are here!!!" Excellent care 100%, Groomer Yes I had Boots at the all day four to six hours W.A.H. spa for regular fur cuts!!! (Lion fur cut style) He had Very Long Hair Fur,!! (FUR/HAIR BALLS YUCK) One of the main reasons I love Wheatfield Animal Hospital is their Boarding care when I traveled. I never had to worry about Boots welfare and safety. He was in the best of hands and care when I was absent on a out of state vacation. They were and still are majorly supporting me after Boots death!! They were/ are kind friendly, highly knowledgeable.,,lovable and compassion towards Boots and his master/owner me. Since then I returned to their practice with a new kitten (with no kitten experience at all) and they have been nothing but amazing to my little girl and I! I have called multiple times with questions, which they have answered on the spot each time. Also, I had a rather unsettling question about her, and they let me take her in ASAP and helped get the situation resolved quickly, all while being courteous and warm to my pet. Today I received a welcome card from them, not a huge gesture, but a gesture enough to reiterate how much they care. I had taken my cat here a few times and wasn't thrilled but they had decent reviews and it was a semi convenient location for us so I tried to stick thru. BIG mistake! My husband and I were just getting ready to leave for an overseas trip when we noticed something extremely abnormal about Kiwi. I started stressing right away because we couldn't miss this flight but I needed to make sure my girl was taken care of. I called my mom right away on our way to the airport and gave her all the info to get Kiwi to her vet. Long story short, the Dr claimed it was just her anal glands that needed to be cleaned. I was hesitant about this but tried to stay optimistic til we got back home. So as soon as we got back and I saw that the same thing was STILL wrong with her, we took her to a 24 hour clinic in southern Erie county. Turns out she was impacted and had to remain this way for at least 10 days because the Dr at Wheatfield Animal Hospital didn't know!!! Horrible experience. I now know after everything we dealt with with Kiwi after this, that impactions are very easy to identify and shame on the Dr that couldn't recognize this. We will never recommend this office to anyone. Stay away!!Read Less

I called for an appointment, as a new customer, for my aged cat suffering from weight loss and other G.I. symptoms. They asked me to come in within 2 hours. The staff was kind and comforting; the doctor was thorough in his exam and explained in easy terms what the situation was. What I appreciated most was that they shared the fees for tests (i.e., blood work, etc.) before performing any procedures and fully explained the reasons for suggesting the work. Sometime later, I had to return to have my beloved cat put down because of her failing health. Again, I received a same day appointment. The staff was extremely considerate and understanding. It was a very difficult experience that they helped my cat as well as me get through as gently as possible. A few weeks later, I received a sympathy card signed with personal messages from the doctor and entire staff along with a touching plaster imprint of my cat's paw decorated and be-ribboned. Their prices are in line with most of the area vets and they offer boarding and grooming as well! Convenient hours and location. The doctors are young but extremely capable and they seem willing to do the research necessary, if needed . They also offer laser for treatments and surgeries. Like, if you're having Your Dog spayed, the laser cuts the skin better and I was told the dog heals faster with less complications. They also have a groomer that comes highly recommended and she can do dogs that other groomers refuse to take. My dogs leave there clean, happy and looking beautiful! I want to thank Doctor Ashley Saffire for being so gentle with my Oscar. He was a beautiful little Basset Hound that was diagnosed with terminal cancer. All we were able to do was make him comfortable. He lasted another 5 months and when the time came for Dr. Saffire to help our baby over the Rainbow Bridge, she took my father and Oscar to the park across the street from the office she was previously working at in Lewiston, and sat them down underneath a tree. My father held Oscar is his arms and said a prayer while Oscar was sedated. When my father was ready, Dr Saffire let our little guy rest in peace. The way it was done was so compassionate and so beautiful that I will never forget it. If anyone was to choose a vet in the WNY area I would highly recommend Wheatfield Animal Hospital. When Doctor Saffire moved there we followed.
My other dog Charlie was diagnosed with arthritis 3 days after Oscar passed. We feared the worst as he is getting up there in age and he was unable to walk. Dr Saffire performed surgery on one of his knees. Though he is in pain from the surgery, he is moving around better than he has in months. More importantly he is much happier. For a while we thought he would just waste away because his buddy was gone and not being able to run after his ball as he always loves to do. Now he is able to put weigh on that knee and go for walks. Any dog owner can relate that our animals are our family. We love them and want the best for them. Thank you Dr. Saffire you are an angel. My experiences with WAH have been excellent. I am surprised to hear that people have found them less than compassionate. My cat was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure, and as he declined we made the very difficult decision to let him go. Any time we visited the office, all the staff were friendly and very sympathetic. At first I wasn't sure about Dr. Brown -- he seemed a little wooden at first -- but he turned out to be so, so wonderful. He couldn't have been more patient and caring during the procedure. I opted to stay with my cat and of course was very emotional. He made me feel comfortable and handled my cat gently and carefully. What really sealed it for me was the long, handwritten sympathy note I received from him, as well as an obviously handcrafted clay memorial plaque for my cat that included his paw print and a clipping of his fur attached. I recommend WAH to anyone who cares about their animals and wants excellent, compassionate care. Dr. Brown and the whole staff are obviously animal lovers and love what they do. Read Less

Thank you. Read Less

Needless to say I'll not be bringing any of our animals here again in the future. I just want to say something about Wheatfield Animal Hospital. They were so great to my family's aging cat who passed away late last year.

Such a touching gesture which I cherish. I HIGHLY recommend them...if you consider your pet a family member, this is your place! They all truly love animals and offer professional, high quality pet care at competitive rates. Read Less

The doctors and staff at Wheatfield Animal Hospital are amazing! It is evident that they truly care about my pet's health and well-being through everything they do! I have a crabby diabetic cat who recently had a dental and teeth pulled out. I know my cat can be nasty but the staff really seems to love her! In fact, they drag me in the door so they can visit and get treats and love! I highly recommend this place! Read Less

Read Less
