FOR SHAME on YOU NORTH SHORE VETERINARY HOSPITAL... You are the furthest thing from a hospital! If I could give zero stars I would!Not pleased with service. Multiple trips in one week, all but a guessing game.  Save yourself some serious money and only take your dog to a full service hospital. At least there you're in the right place if something is truly wrong.  3 visits cost me $1,178.00 and had absolutely NOTHING to work with. Due to their incompetency, I was then referred to a specialist hospital for the wrong diagnosis. Following which I spent another small fortune to re-do the work that North Shore Vet should have been BETTER at doing.  Worst still, North Shore advised my family that a dog having a fever for 3 or more days is really-really bad, YET... on her third visit after having a FEVER for now 3+ days, the doctor didn't even mention it to my family. Shouldn't he have said something?  ANYTHING?  Like, HEY, you might want to get her to the emergency today.  NO! Not this place. NO! Not this doctor. FOR SHAME! My dog was burning up again, at a minimum they should have alerted me and say, this is serious and for this reason alone (combined with the fact the antibiotic they administered days prior was doing nothing to help in lowering her temp.) you should bring her to emergency. Instead they acted very casual and said, seek additional medical treatment if you think you need to and sent us off with a referral... WHAT??!!!!After the referral, North Shore was supposed to forward all records to the referral hospital. That didn't happen as directed.  I had to call several times and learned that the same doctor instructed the front desk NOT to forward my dog's blood tests to the hospital he himself referred me to. What is the point of not sharing what is useful information?  I paid for it, who is he to say to NOT send valuable information.I am beyond upset with this place... I cannot believe this place is still in business seeing how they doctor. ABSOLUTELY LAME! PS - they also charge you $5.00 to dispose of a needle -FIVE DOLLARS!!!!  Seriously... they have some NERVE operating. Praying on people to the tunes of thousands... These guys are good. Seriously very good doctors. The prices are higher than some but after having a cat misdiagnosed at other cheaper practices the Physicians here diagnosed cancer correctly and it was treated and the cat went on to live many long years. I recommend these guys. Read Less

We are sending this review as it is so well deserved. If we could do ten stars we would. Two years ago we adopted a senior dog and he was treated prior by the hospital and staff. During that time we had a couple of visits which were always professional, accommodating, and reasonable in pricing. Two weeks ago we had to put this pup down and our visit was so full of compassion, understanding and kindness. I don’t think I have every been treated so well for myself in a physician’s office. And then, if that weren’t enough, the entire staff sent us a sympathy card individually signed by all. No matter have far this office is to our home, we will take all our pets there. North shore Vetinary used to be incredible but now they have major issue in aging staff, irresponsible treatment of animals in terms of recommended care, and a few staff members who have absolutely horrible attitudes. Multiple neighbors (Northport Reaident) of mine have recommended for years to not use them because of the pricing of services and add unnecessary procedures. They will literally see your Pet for the same ailment 5x in a row with the same treatment .... absolutely no new suggestions. Then the staff speaks to you as if you are a child. Unfortunately this is not isolated just to me but many Northport residents feel this way (many - small town) Please stay away from this location as they are absolutely horrible in terms of customer services and the treatment is just a continuous money grab with not even a smile but an attitude/frown! My family and I have been using this vet for many decades. Dr. Fredericks is the best. Very caring and extremely accurate with his diagnoses. The office staff has moderate turnover, but the superstars like Danielle remain. They cater to special cases, and are always able to offer the best and most accurate advisement. When your pet is ill and euthanasia is the only choice, Dr. Fredericks is so kind and empathetic. It doesn't get any better than this. I have recommended them to so many people, and everyone was more than satisfied. Waiting time can be long, but it's definitely worth it. They also have a boarding facility. I have never used it, but have heard good things. Parking is ample. Convenient location. I would never go anywhere else. Excellent overall. Read Less

Vet Lauren Donovan should not do spays! Or surgeries for that matter. See ANY other Dr. She almost killed my beautiful kitten. She glued the incision instead of stiches and it got badly infected. I have been taking my pets here for over 25 years. All of my pets got excellent care and lived long and healthy lives. The Doctors go beyond just examining the animals they educate the owners in how to best care for their pets. The entire staff really do care about each and every animal, and each pet owner too. Well if it wasn't for North Shore Veterinary Hospital my dog Max would not be alive today. Max is 15 and has a lot of issues. Dr. Lauren will go far and beyond to help your pets. I had a vet who told me that she couldn't help Max when he had e-coli in his bladder. Guess what Dr. Lauren did. Then Max had all the symptoms of having Crushing Disease the vet said no way. Dr. Lauren ran the blood work and guess what Max had Crushing. I truly believe that if I didn't go to Dr. Lauren for a second opinion Max would not be here with me today. I thank her sooo much for everything she has done for him. I would like to thank Dr. Crandell for removing a mass that was on the outside of Max's rectum. This was terrifying to me because I was afraid that he wouldn't come out of the anesthesia. The operation came out great. His rectum went back to normal and there is no signs that he even had surgery. Max is doing great. Dr. Lauren has him under control with his meds. Even tho he is 15 he is acting like a puppy again. He is back to playing with his toys and wants to run in the yard with our other dog Leo. Hopefully he will make it to next Christmas. The staff here is extremely friendly, sympathetic, loving and just overall amazing. We had a tough decision to make and they truly supported us like I never imagined a vets office would. Talk about easy and friendly Had to drop my dog off for the night Three people met me and my diamond.First they asked if there are any allergies or issues with the dog. I don't know any other doctors at this hospital but I do not recommend Donavan. We went for a wellness checkup. She checked my dog's teeth and buttocks. She cleaned the ear upon our request because we suspected an ear infection. I feel like she did not do a thorough examination. In addition she kept giving treats (three big Greenie's pill pockets). It is comforting to know that they have chosen a staff that meets their standard of care. Dr. Lauren Donovan did a horrible spay on my beautiful kitten. First off the spay was $422.00. The glue stitches looked strange, bumpy looking, when we first brought her home. My gut feeling was not good. The incision got infected, and then we took her back and Dr. Donovan cleaned it, & re-glued it. Then it got really infected! MY KITTEN ALMOST DIED because of Dr. Donovan re-glued an infection. The owner of the hospital (which I think is a good vet) had to go back and clean it all out and stitch it back up. My poor cat had to have TWO surgeries in a span of two weeks! She was on pain meds and antibiotics. Thank God she's better. I'm not saying she's not a good vet. I AM saying she screwed up. AND didn't take any responsibility for it and never called me to see how my cat was doing. None the less we found another vet entirely. He saw the pictures we took of her incision hole that had green puss inside. Horrified look in his eyes. Bottom line, they are overpriced, and not supervising the surgeries.What was suppose to be a inexpensive, simple surgery turned out to be a nightmare for me. I pray that no pet owner ever has to experience that. Read Less

This is a great animal hospital.  The vets are very knowledgeable and compassionate (we've taken six cats there, so we've seen a number of doctors), and the receptionists are always incredibly friendly.  The vets make house calls, including those for euthanasia.  In my experience, this is an uncommon service (having, unfortunately, needed to put a few of my cats to sleep over the years while living in different counties).
