I didn’t have a bad experience with the people working there or the facility whatsoever. Only thing was, that after 3 visits somehow my dog was misdiagnosed with a somewhat “common” issue for what did end up happening. It was somewhat of an emergency and I stumbled across Abbott Road Animal Hospital, after another that I had called was closed for the day. They were able to get me and my 6 year old dog in the same day which was very nice. He had been lethargic for a couple days, bounced back and I suddenly noticed blood in his urine. After a physical, then blood work he was diagnosed with a rare “parasitic blood disease” and was put on antibiotics as well as steroids. It seemed to be working as he was his normal self after a day or so. Fast forward 3 visits later and blood work/urine samples each time. But once we started to ween off the steroids he was immediately sick and on his death bed once again. I was told to have an internest look at him or increase the steroids once more. I ended up going the very same day I was told that, to a vet that my family has always used in Bennington. Within 2 minutes of his physical, she noticed that his spleen was enlarged. He went into surgery the following day and had the entire thing removed. He is 100% himself if not more as of today, with no cancer that they could see in the tests that were ran on samples of his spleen. This vet is probably good if you bring your animals in from day 1, but not so much in emergency situations. Let alone a normal physical as I had Xrays at the new vet I went to and showed that the mass on my dogs spleen was “tennis ball sized”.. Not sure how that was missed after 3-4 visits by a normal physical as they feel his abdomen, or if they didn’t want to tell me that was the case? Nevertheless, it says “animal hospital” in the name.. But this place seems more of a yearly, quarterly checkup kind of place not so much a hospital. Read Less

my shih tzu had a ruptured anal gland that was getting infected fast. no other vets would take me with what little time I had, due to his infection, and what little money I had. I called abbott rd animal hospital and they had me come in almost immediately. Had I waited for another vet to give me an appointment, my dog could have gotten seriously infected. they put him on antibiotics and pain meds. I only had very little money at the time of the visit and they even offered to call walmart to see if they had cheaper prices on the meds my dog needed. so compassionate and caring. thank you so much ! I would recommend abbott road animal hospital to everyone. the workers are great, and the doctor was so kind. Read Less

My animals have always gotten excellent treatment by a very caring staff. I have been a client since 1993 when we got our first family dog, a chocolate Labrador. He loved to go to the office. He had to be put down due to a medical issue at the age of 14 and died peacefully surrounded by his family and Dr. Galluch who had tears in her eyes. All of the staff was very compassionate to our situation. I now have two dogs who are happy for a trip to the office even when they have had procedures done. I have had many issues with my pets and am not one to jump and do something just because it is suggested. I like to be informed so I know I am making the right decision. All of the vets have taken the time to answer my questions and go over everything with me.. They always follow up with a phone call if I had been in with a problem. I'm very happy with the service. Julie C. you're clearly grieving over the loss of your animal and there is no reason to lash out at this animal hospital.  I had a chocolate lab that I brought in with a tumor on her foot.  The staff was extremely accomodating and patient with my dog.  Dr. lesch confirmed that it was cancerous but never once pushed me to do anything that I didn't want to do.  After a couple of months of being on a heavy steriod my dog lost her battle.  The professionalism that this vet's office has is outstanding.  I never felt pressured to do anything that I didn't want to do and I was also told the truth, no sugarcoating.  All in all this place is great the prices are reasonable and they even have a stock pile of unused medicine for people that can't afford to purchase them for their animals.  I feel like they are truly out to help anyone that needs it and in the event that I ever get another pet I will be sure to bring them to this vet, that are fantastic! The only reason I am giving this place two stars is because of their prices. The service is good..sometimes they oversell when they know  procedures won't work in a situation that is dire.  I've fallen for a few of these hardsells.I brought in a Basset hound that was only five years old. He lost the use of his hind legs almost overnight. They told me this occurs in small legged dogs - Bassets, Corgis, etc. - and that the prognosis was good if I did one of two things. Send him to Cornell to have experimental surgery at a cost of THOUSANDS with no guarantee of the outcome or let them do some drug therapy and send him home with me to do physical therapy. Again, no guarantees. I opted for the latter. And I watched him slowly lose his self pride as he lost control of his bowels and bladder. The PT didn't work. After a few days I called to set up an appointment for euthanasia. That is the overselling part. I do take my Sphynx cats here and they brush up before I come in. The staff is cool. Prices are high and they push for sonograms and stuff that is not done around here so you are looking at major dollars. It' s not a bad place just be prepared for a selling frenzy. Read Less
