I have been using Fruit Valley Vet Clinic for at close to 28 years (they purchased the practice in 1990.) I first started going to FVVC to vaccinate the CNY puppies-training for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I grew to like Dr. Susan so much, that I began bringing my personal cats and dogs to their practice. Now, Dr. Susan is very quiet, very laid back. Her husband, Dr. Eric..... Not so much. I can remember the first time I saw Dr. Eric, one of the guide puppies had diarrhea. When I walked out of the office, I thought I was ready to take the ANY State Vet Boards , and become a licensed vet tech!!! NO, I thought I could pass the licensing exam and become a vet. This is NOT meant to be a slam to either Vet. Both are extremely good at what they do. They treat the animals like they treat the humans -with respect , love, absolute professionalism. You will NOT find vets as great as these two ANY WHERE in Central New York, or possibly in the whole state. Read Less

Best veterinary experience I have ever had! My husky/German Shepard mix is such a pain to take to the vet he howled and cried the whole time and they were all so nice and the vet was very thorough in his exam. Even advising me on which vaccines were evidence based or not. Definitely not one of those vets trying to make your bill as high as possible, he actually talked me out of one vaccine! Fruit Valley is a full 45 minute drive from my home. But my pets are family and they deserve the very best. The staff is warm, knowledgeable and has the best interests of my animals at heart. When have you ever called for an update on the condition of your pet and had the veterinarian return your call and spoken to your for 30 minutes without additional charge? Vet care can be expensive....but Fruit Valley works to ensure your pet's health is the first priority at a fraction of the costs charged by my old vet. The additional drive time is a small price to pay for quality service. Read Less

I'm not looking to change anyone's opinion about this place, I simply would like too inform everyone of a recent experience. As a client for many years, I'm besides myself of what happened. The person that recommended this place to me years ago had been a client there for a very long time, with many animals that have been cared for throughout the years. They tried to make a appointment for a 19 yr old cat that they believe could be dying from old age. The cat is not eating anymore. They informed her they couldn't see her for days. They just saw my dog a week earlier for a lacerated lens. I called when I heard of the problem with this other client and asked if my dog could be seen again. They gave me a 4pm appointment that same day. Once given that appointment, I told them right then on the same phone call, I was giving my appointment time up for this person with a possible dying cat. They turned the idea down. SAD. Read the attached picture from their Web page. Thanks I'm moving on too a new vet. Good job Fruit Valley.Read Less

We've had three official visits thus far for ongoing end-of-life care, and go there frequently for prescriptions.PROS:- Dr. Danielle M. is knowledgeable, compassionate, and takes the time to go over what they're doing, what the options are and why.- Clean, quiet facilities.- Very little wait time, if any.- On-call doctors who get back to you quickly in my experience.- Not forcing you to make an appointment for medicine pick-ups once you're established.- I can't emphasize how important it is that these guys will teach you LIFE SAVING TREATMENTS you can do affordably at home.NEUTRAL:- They mark up some equipment substantially. Don't particularly resent it because they do try to keep your visits affordable, and other supplies are actually under-marked.CONS:- If your pet has not been a client in their care, it doesn't seem like they honor other vets' prescriptions.- Some clinicians are less understanding than others, which is especially important in sensitive situations.- If they mess up your prescription order, you get a credit and stuck with the mess-up instead of a cash refund and exchange. All in all, with respect to the grief of a horrific situation that no family should have to face, Fruit Valley Vet has given us a lot to work with. They're a small clinic, and do remarkably well for it. Read Less

Have brought my pets to the clinic my entire childhood, but never really appreciated how great Dr. Eric is until I moved to Long Island and started treating my own pets. His prices are wonderful, he even works within your budget in an attempt to give the best care to your pet. He is able to do most anything in his clinic instead of sending you to many expensive specialtists. Both doctors are able to come in after hours for emergent situations (current clients only) and will bend over backwards to see an urgent pet the day of. Never have had a bad experience. Dr. Eric is highly knowledgeable and continues his medical education through articles published by Cornell. The entire staff was extremely patient with me the past several months when our cat had a mysterious illness that was hard to diagnose and ultimately led to his death at 16 years old. The staff remembered my cat when he hadn't been in for 1 year but I brought him in because he looked "strange". The techs immediately remembered his personality and that his eyes were changing. They never made me feel like the crazy cat lady I felt like and answered all my ridiculous questions. Amazing service, very compasionte as my family has been dealing with the euthanasia of 2 of our oldest pets in 1 year. They don't push unnecessary tests or vaccines. They even helped us adopt 2 of our 5 pets that they were treating for the humane society at the time. Read Less

Dr Susan (as well as the rest of the staff) are very good with the animals and all very compassionate. I don't blame them for not giving meds to animals they do not regularly treat or people who have in the past been unable to pay. Giving meds to animals they do not know the medical history of opens the door to all kinds of problems including legal and they need to make money doing what they do, and in my opinion do well. They are the only ones who will ever treat my animals!Lorie HainesHappy pet owner Read Less

Fruit Valley Veterinary Clinic has a policy that in order to get any form of medication for your pet you must first be a previous customer, they will only treat an animal up to how much the owner can afford to pay, and only in that price range. So if you have a cat or a dog that is seriously ill they won't even attempt to go all out to the best of their ablitlites to save an animal. And forget any type of service if you should have a outstanding balance, they'll try to make you pay the remaining balance on the spot before even considering looking at you let alone your beloved pet. So, avoid the runaround and the headache. Other Hospitals in the area are: VCA animal Hospitals, Heacock Noel A DVM- Fulton, North Country Animal Health Center- Watertown NY, North Country Veterinary Services PC- Oswego & Pulaski,Tara Animal Hospital- Oswego, Fulton Animal Hospital, Highland Animal Hospital - Central Square, and Mexico Veterinary Hospital. As you can see there are a lot of choices to choose from other than Fruit Valley Veterinary Clinic. Read Less

I will continue to bring my pets to Fruit Valley Veterinary Clinic. Read Less

I have been taking my do to Fruit Valley Vet Clinic for 9 years, the staff have always been very helpful and concerned. They even met me there on Sunday during a holiday weekend to check my dog.

Read Less
