I absolutely LOVE this place! My first visit here was with my eldest dog, we were literally expecting the worst-case scenario possible because he was having trouble walking and was crying a lot. After super expensive vet visits from a previous clinic, we were told we would have to keep him in an animal hospital due to intestinal issues. The vet here took his time explaining absolutely everything to us, even broke down the x-ray report to help us better understand it. It turns out, that past vet that cost me an arm and a leg for visits with no MRI or x-rays done, was completely wrong.  My dog had another issue that was completely curable with the right medication and follow ups. Not only are they detailed oriented, their staff is as polite as ever and I swear their prices are super considerable and affordable. I am SOOOOO happy I found this place. I've been taking my cat to this clinic since he was 3 months old. This month he will be 5 yrs old. He is not the easiest cat to deal with. Meiko has a strong personality and it's very proud. He doesn't like to be held dow. or locked in cages. Dr. Dobson and his staff are patient and thorough. Although his visits often result in Meiko being sedated, I am never worried. When I got back to the exam room, I explained my pups symptoms and the doctor prescribed meds and gave a shot without a physical exam of my pup or feeling her body for the symptoms I was describing.  This struck me as a little off. I decided to try out a new vet that's closer to me and the vibe was completely different. When I called Liberty for my vet records, the receptionist was very rude over the phone. I had to ask multiple times to confirm the email and he said he'd send them now. afterwards he just hung up without saying anything. I've brought my dog here twice. Once in 2015 and on July 15 2017. First of all, the doctor takes walk-ins. A plus. Second, the exam fee is A LOT cheaper in comparison to other vets in NYC. Dr. Dodson charges $45. Most vets in the area charge at least $55 or up. Now, I have read some of the reviews here and I agree with some of their observations. When I was there in 2015, the boy at the receptionist desk was not very friendly/welcome just like what other reviewers have stated. However, in my second visit, they hired a new receptionist (a woman) and she was very very courteous, professional and super nice. Although from what I understand in my second visit, the boy is the doctor's son (?). So, some of you might see him at the clinic again.I also agree with others about the "expensive" medication sold at this clinic. Brought my pup in July due to ear infections, they prescribed me Zymox (1.25 fl oz) and they charged me $35. Looked it up online and Amazon has it for about $20 and in some places (allivet) $15. Am I happy about this? No. Do I find this outrageous? No. Go to any vet, docs or any professional establishments (esp hair salons/spas), they will sell you most stuff at higher prices than online stores. They need to make a living somehow. Also, online, you'll have to wait a few days and some stores have minimum purchase before they give you free shipping.  Last, in both visits, I find Dr. Dodson very caring and professional and he answered all my questions. That's what's most important here.Overall, I'm a fan of this place. I absolutely recommend anyone to come here. Again, they do take walk ins! I called like 10 places in NYC area on July 15 and all of them required you to make an appointment one or two days before and their fee was $55-$70 for exam.  Dr. Dodson was the only one who accepted walk ins on that day. This vet is amazing. I remember coming in and getting my cat checked out in 30 minutes or less. The receptionist is a really nice person and they are really professional with there job. The vet was an amazing man. He is nice and friendly and worked with us to treat our cat. He is really educated in his profession and has a lot of experience. It was smooth sailing and all went well. I took my doggie of 9 years for surgery due to a hernia on March 13, 2017 I was told if he showed any signs of complication he would be kept overnight for observation. Our doggie was released to us at 5pm saying everything was fine with a bag of medications. 2 hours later at 7pm he died!!! I got home a few minutes after him passing away to home of children and adults crying. It was a horrible experience that will stay with us forever all of this was on my birthday. We will miss you Rocky R.I.P we have had to get a new puppy to fill the void no one will replace Rocky but would never be able to go back here. The best veterinarian in Queens. I don't understand why other Vets overprice. Like, why? Smh. My dog has allergies and every other vet we took him to gave a dog version of benedryl and also overpriced me at each visit. THIS vet however, was so sweet and explained to me that the doggie benedryl only helps for a short while. It isn't long term. He gave my dog a better pill and spray to help with the itching. So the visit, spray and pill came up to around $150. Which is CHEAP compared to other places. Also, my dog feels SO much better and isn't constantly itching himself. Office was also neat and clean. Phenomenal Vet, Amazing support staff.  I would trust this small family owned business with my Yorkshire terrier any day. He is very old and developed kidney stones. The vet was very helpful in explaining his condition, and the options that we had. He had to undergo two separate surgeries the have the stones removed. The staff was patient, and on top of everything. I've had my dog for 14 years and have seen vets all over Manhattan and Brooklyn, this one is by far the best. I won't say this is the worse animal clinic but I have been to a lot better ones. I called to get my dog's records and was informed that "vet needs to review the records before they are released to me or another vet". I'm not sure why or if this is the norm but I've dealt with other animal clinics and they've never had to review the records before releasing them to me. They do not have the capability to email you the records- you either have to pick them up at their office or they will fax it to you or your new vet. Also when I called them to get some information regarding some tests done on my dog's eye the receptionist told me that the information regarding that test was missing from my dog's file. This was a bit unsettling for me since I would think that they would or should have their patients file in order. When you talk to the vet, he doesn't seem knowledgeable and recommended procedures that my dog didn't even need! The receptionist is friendly, the price of services seems reasonable. Update. Unfortunately this friendly, one-person (plus one receptionist and teen helper) vet operation is no longer budget-friendly. While the price of the VISIT itself on his invoice is reasonable, he inflates the price of the medications provided by 5 times; yes five times. I went online and checked the price of two medications he sold me for my dog because I thought they were rather expensive. Each item was five times more than the online price for the exact thing! This caused my bill to double. These vets in NYC are out of control with their greed and taking advantage of people's emotional attachment and commitment to their animals. Liberty Animal Clinic is the most caring, affordably priced place in queens. They are honest and helpful and do not look to overcharge you like many other offices will. My 12 year old dog passed away just over a year ago, and Liberty was so incredibly helpful and understanding throughout the whole situation. Watching your dog's health deteriorate before your eyes is not an easy feat. At liberty they meet you with necessary compassion. They understand that you are not just dealing with a pet; you are dealing with a family member. They look to put your animal first and never try to manipulate you or fool you into over-paying.I now take my 8-month-old puppy to their office as well. And this week, my boyfriend's 4-year-old dog made his first trip to Liberty after being told an absurdly false estimate by another veterinary office. The other office wanted to charge $2000 for an "emergency" surgery for an anal abscess. Turns out, not only would Liberty have charged significantly less had the surgery been needed BUT also, the surgery wasn't even necessary. The vet took the time to actually examine the dog and not leap to a highly expensive unnecessary treatment. He explained that surgery is always the last option and that you never want to perform surgery if it isn't necessary. Instead he expressed the gland, drained the abscess, prescribed antibiotics and sent us home with a $150 bill rather than a $2000 bill like the other office was trying to do.. Read Less

Awful place for my dog. I left get my dog to be neutered at 9am and at 1:30pm exactly I get a call telling me this clinic could not go through with the procedure since my dog is 4 months. Oh! I've used this place and same vet, Linden Dodson since my puppy was 7 weeks old. We were charged $125 for anesthesia but the Linden Dodson did not come out to for an explaination. Sends out my drugged up dog with a staff instead of him coming out to explain how he botched this procedure. So I put my dog through 24 hours of fasting per Dodson's instructions for a mishap by vet. This is the last visit to this place for my dog. I am speaking to other dog owners/trainer about making this place be more responsible for their action and license to practice. Is it outrageous! Initially when I had gone into this place a year ago or so i was happy about it. I got an appointment quickly and they even had the food for my animals on sale. And the prices seemed to be relatively reasonable. But pet parent beware.First, the fact that I ordered food and was supposed to get a phone call when it arrived, and didn't (3x) is the least of my issues. Try calling here and have an ongoing issue with your animal and you will soon wonder if the guy at the front desk is protecting Oz or in a romantic relationship with the vet and wants no one to access him. He will not, and I mean will not put the vet on the phone or even pass along a message to him. Forget it! You have to make an appointment which you paid for, even though you were just in the office the week of.Then when you make an appointment and need recommendations from the doc regarding food before your appointment because your animal is practically dying, he not only is not helpful, he will then insult you and your intelligence like he did me. "maybe you are not smart enough to understand what I'm saying." And "I don't care!" in regards to whatever I mentioned to him with his snide laughter, because obviously no one was in the office or near him at the time so he could go off on you at will. Then he hangs up on you, and when you call back, of course there is no answer. Too bad I was too far away to come down to office and throw cat piss in his face to teach his ghetto ass a lesson in respect.Then to add salt to the wound, I called on a bright Monday morning. This time I get a lady who is so nonchalant about the situation, she just cannot believe that this person, whom she was not sure of, would do this. Mind you they only have one crusty young boy working the front desk, but she not only didn't know who I was talking about, she also found it hard to believe that he would do this. I will still be making a visit to this office to ask said young man if he has something he wants to say to me. And I am going to say it very loud when I walk in the door, because he had A LOT of mouth when I called the office a few weeks ago and I am giving him time to forget me. I hope the doctor is in to get an ear full of what I think of his crappy unprofessional practice. My family and I have many pets to begin with, so we are always trying different vets because we haven't really found the perfect one. The previous vet I had taken my pets and my mom's pets to was very pricey and seemed clueless with diagnosing the problems. Most vets I have been to like to do the trial and error to rule things out and the bill ends up being insane due to this. We ended up bringing my boyfriend's cat (Melo) to this clinic after a referral from a friend who brought her shitzu here. We got to the clinic really early even before the opening time, Dr. Linden Dodson was there and let us in the waiting room even tho it was not opening time, the staff was not even there yet. The Dr. Was very polite and told us he would be right with us after he finished cleaning and setting up. After about 15 minutes he came to the waiting room and asked us what was going on with the cat and was very helpful and made some observations and told us the possible diagnosis from his symptoms.  Once the staff got in we filed the forms and immediately saw the doctor. The staff was also very helpful and polite. What I liked best was that the doctor was not concerned with adding unnecessary tests, he performed an X-ray and sent it to a specialist and in the interim put in a catheter to relieve Melo's swollen bladder. The problem ended up being that Melo had crystal build up which blocked his urinary tract and caused the swelling. The examination fee is 45$ which I think is reasonable and standard. This vet clinic is cheaper than others Ive been to in terms of paying for the necessary. Like I said previously other vets Ive been to tend to play a guessing game and perform expensive tests and sometimes don't even end up truly fixing the problem and the outcome is an insane bill. Dr. Linden Dodson only performed the tests and procedures adequate with what he believed to be the problem, therefore our bill was much better than it would have had we taken him to our previous vet. Overall this vet is very client friendly and so is his staff. They allowed us to go to the back and see our cat while he was under anesthesia with the catheter inserted, he informed us what the issue was, what we needed to do to avoid the problem again and was very patient in answering our questions. He even personally opened on Sunday (even though they are closed) so we could pick up our cat and take him home. I am looking forward to bringing my dogs here for a checkup and shots which are 95$ for all 4 vaccines, amazing!! Read Less

Dr. Dodson is the best of the best. My cat was very ill when I took her there. I thought I was going to have to put her down She was hospitilized there for a few days. Dr. Dodson tested her and gave a very accurate diagnosis of her condition. The facility is very clean it's a very healthy and caring environment for your pets. After a very bad vet experience at Lefferts Animal Hospital, I came here with my 4 year old female pitbull. Her condition had worsened since our last vet visit and she had so much swelling that her left eye was shut and the entire left side of her face, head and neck blew up. The vet tech was concerned about her and took her temperature right away, informing us she had a fever, something the vet at lefferts did not do. The vet did a full examination, taking his time to figure out what the issue was and how he was going to get her better. He gave her an allergy shot and specific instructions on what to do there on out. He had us call and e-mail him 2 days later to give him an update and let him know if she was better or not so he could advise us what to do next. Just days later and she is almost 100 percent back in good health. This was exactly what we needed and were looking for! I recently got a puppy and needed to get her vet checked right away. Normally, I would go to North Shore Animal League in Long Island. But they're next available appointment was in a month. I always thought NSAL had the best prices until I went to Liberty. They had a puppy special and I was able to get my baby vet checked for half the price than NSAL. And to make it better, the gentlemen who manned the front desk were very polite and helpful. Dr. Dodson was wonderful and very welcoming. He was thorough and very informative. He even gave me his website where I can ask him and other vets any questions I may have. Today Lulu went for her last series of shots and I once again, I was very pleased with the service. I have a 12 year old Chinese Crested, blind, very delicate and sensitive to anesthesia. She had a dental abcess and was in a lot of pain. I took my Boston Terrier  Joey there today. The Veterinarian couldn't have been more nicer. He was very kind and took very good care of Joey.My experience with many Veterinarians have not always been pleasant. They always want to give your animal this shot and take blood for this and just trying to nickel and dime you for every procedure. that you never really needed to have done and before you know it you end up with a whopping Vet bill!!!...But not this Veterinarian he  was an absolute sweetheart. Dr. Scott honestly does not care about any clients that come into his door. He does the same song and dance for every pet. I worked for him and quit, because I couldn't adhere to his lack of ethics. He rushes through appointments, truly does not address the pets' needs and really just wants your money. He over-sells products and medication to compensate for the lack of clients he is able to retain, because he is so terrible. If you choose to ignore this review, be warned - he will intentionally beat around the bush to the cost of what services he will perform on your pet so when you check out, do not be surprised when your bill is absurdly high. He's old and should retire, and you can see that his heart isn't invested in the care of animals anymore. Do yourself a favor and sincerely take your pet somewhere else. Read Less

I love this clinic. My cat have a bladder problem and needed emergency surgery. Dr. Scott and Dr. Dobson were my saviour. This clinic is clean and the front desk staff is very warm and helpful. The doctor was such an asshole! Kept telling me all this medical terminology instead of speaking in laments terms. He first tells me that the cat is fine and their is no need for x-rays. Then he tells me that we should x-ray the whole cat! He doesn't really tell me what exactly is wrong with the cat. Names like 3 or 4 things that could be the problem and doesn't narrow it down. When i questioned him as to why the x-ray now he started to be nasty towards me. I told him he was making me uncomfortable and his reply was "I don't like that you questioned me". WTF! Am I not within my right to ask! Worst experience ever! The staff in the front is very nice I will say. I think the doctor was either Haitian or african. Not really sure if there is more than one vet here, but if you get him turn the other way! Read Less

Dr. Scott is the most caring Vet I have ever been to. Whenever I go to Liberty Animal Clinic, I am treated like family. Not sure if that's because I have been going there for 5 years, or that's just the way the staff operates. Regardless, they're not just good, they're great, and reasonably priced.
