The Pearl River Animal Hospital was terrific when Dr. Tony was at the helm but Dr. Diane is simply awful. She is rude and condescending and made no less than 4 snide comments (at my expense) on our last appointment. I'm a happy -go-lucky introvert so thought I may have read it wrong until the friend who accompanied my dog and myself commented on her horrible behavior. I'm sorry to say I will not be back. Dr. Tony if you're reading this - we adored you. You daughter, however needs etiquette classes and a crash course on basic manners. Read Less

I've been bringing my cats here for more than 15 years and have always been satisfied with their service. When I first went there in 2001, Dr. Di diagnosed and treated my cat Tuesday for asthma, a condition that a previous vet had failed to diagnose (he treated him for hairballs!). Tuesday lived comfortably for another 10 years with the care from Pearl River Animal Hospital, which included an emergency visit with Dr. Anton when the office was closed on a holiday weekend. They have taken care of 4 of my cats over the years and I have never hesitated to  recommend  them to family and friends. Read Less

I wouldn't recommend taking your dogs/ puppies to this hospital that is a ripoff and shows no help . The doctor seemed she didn't know how to help a dog. My dog , Boo , was suffering from pain , so me and my family members rushed to take her to the nearest animal hospital. Before , I tried calling to the hospital but after answering the phone the front desk assistant hang up the phone on me . So we rushed to the hospital without a call. After arriving my mom has explained that, Boo is in pain and that she is crying , not eating nor drinking , nor being active as she is usually . My mom has mentioned that she has pain in her stomach area. The doctor has done blood test and afterwards said that there is noting wrong with Boo, and that she's good to go home . So for a blood test my mom has been charged $375.00. We trusted the doctor and brought her back home after 2 days Boo still did not recover, she was feeling even worse ... so I took her back to the hospital and told the doctor that she isn't feeling well and there MUST BE something wrong . I asked the Doctor to help us find out what's wrong with Boo. She did x-rays then told us that there is a bone in her chest and that she doesn't know how to help Boo. So we got charged another $340.00 for the X-rays. After we took Boo to the emergency Oradell Animal Hospital and the doctors told us that those X-rays taken in Pearl River Animal Hospital aren't clear and that they have to retake them. After retaking the X-rays they told us Boo has a bone in her throat that has created many health issues for her. Also , Oradell Hospital doctors said they need to retake the blood test ... after retaking the blood test they found out there was an inflammation / infection that has started . This information would be very helpful if since the day 1 Pearl river animal hospital would have informed us. We wasted time and money in this hospital that didn't help us to give help my beautiful 3 years old dog. We trusted Pearl river animal hospital and lost our time to give Boo help. In Oradell Boo' s condition got worst since it was late to help her . The Infection spread in her blood and she couldn't breathe and there was fluids in her lungs due to this we lost our dog yesterday. Me and my family are in such a big pain, that we were unable to help Boo and that we wasted time in pearl river animal hospital without receiving help . I would strongly not suggest you to take your puppies to this hospital since they show no professional help. Read Less

We took our almost 11 year old dog here for what we believed was arthritis. We saw the father first who confirmed our thoughts that our dog was suffering from arthritis. Our dog was placed on Previcox which is a NSAID.  The Previcox helped the arthritis but had such severe side effects we were convinced it was toxic to our dog. My dog displayed side effects of decreased appetite( most days he had to be hand feed to get the dog to eat), decreased desire to drink, change in behavior, incoordination, black, tarry & bloody stools and weight loss which all took place in 3 weeks with only 5 pills given. When I contacted Dr. S he stated that the side effects I was reporting was not due to Previcox and the major side effect was diarrhea. I was pretty insistent that I believed in my gut that the timing of the medication given and the extreme change in my dog was not a coincidence. We changed the medication to Rimadyl for 1 pill which gave my dog diarrhea. I called the vet the next day to inform them of side effects and that I was taking the dog off all the medicine. Since in my heart I felt as if we were killing the dog we went back to Pearl River for an exam. Dr. Diane saw us and stated my dogs side effects had nothing to do with Previcox. Well guess what Dr. Diane why don't you go on the Previcox web site and every side effect I noted was exactly the result of Previcox. You and your father prescribed medicine and neither one of you knew any of  the side effects. Besides the hundreds of dollars you charged for other medicines to help with my dogs side effects that had nothing to do with his overall health, simply the result of Previcox. Thankfully I was smarenough to leave Pearl River and seek out some real professionals that actually knew the side effects of Previcox. My dog has been off the medicine for 2 weeks and his appetite is stronger than ever, his stools are a regular form and color, his personality is back and his activity level is back. Then to add insult to injury, after 2 visits to you and 2 examinations by you, the next day, I noticed a hole in the lower abdomen of my dog. We immediately took him to a real vet and my dog had a maggot that invaded the tissue in stomach area. Dr. Diane never even noticed it.  Dr. Diane recommended I go to an internist in Yonkers because she recommended x rays and ultrasounds. She expressed she thought it was very serious and kept stating the age of my "old dog' and even suggested cancer. Save yourself some money and mostly grief as this animal hospital is antiquated and not set up to give x-rays and ultrasounds so when you go to a new vet, you have to pay a consult again. My dog means everything to my family and we put our faith in Pearl River and it was a terrible experience which caused my dog unnecessary suffering and if I listened to them I believe my dog would have died. For over four years I've been bringing my cat to a vet in chestnut ridge, NY because of his horrible rashes which would become crusted over and raw, causing hair loss, apathy, and just every other symptom which a pet owner knows that something is very wrong.  The doctor there would give him a cortisone injection every few months, when finally last spring she told me I should find a doctor that specializes in allergies.  When I searched the Internet I found Dr. Diane Stenzler, from the Pearl River Animal Hospital, who was noted for specializing in animal skin conditions, although not a dermatologist.  However, I was so excited; perhaps this doctor may be able to help my sweet Devon Rex cat, Gianni. When I brought him in on August 19th, I was shocked and impressed with what happened.  Dr. Diane and her staff were so wonderful, gentle, and thorough!  Turns out my kitty has been suffering from a full blown yeast infection, in his ears, in his paws, all over his skin!  Dr. Diane did several tests to confirm this; and she didn't rush the examination.  We were there for close to two hours, and for the first time in years I was almost hopeful.Today, my little cat Gianni and I went back for the two week follow up and further treatments.  I love that the doctor takes pictures of him at each visit, so that a photographic record is on file as well.  His ear infection was 95% cured, his hair is already growing back in, the greasy, coarse fur feels like silk now,  but most importantly, he is so happy!  What a difference in two short weeks!  He's no longer hiding, his appetite is great, and he's playing and cuddling and purring, things he hasn't done in years!  I'm tearing up, tears of utter joy that finally I've found a brilliant, compassionate, and dedicated doctor for Gianni, who is finally on the road to recovery!  I just wish I had known about The Pearl River Animal Hospital sooner.  It hurts that no other doctors took the time or had the knowledge to diagnose and treat him correctly, and also for the unnecessary suffering Gianni had to endure for so long because of these other veterinary clinics ineptitude.I am so grateful to the doctors and assistants at the Pearl River Animal Hospital for taking the time to perform the tests necessary to Gianni's recovery!  In the past 10 years, I brought my pets to Valley Cottage and Chestnut Ridge, and never have I experienced such care, experience, and expertise as I have at the Pearl River Animal Hospital.  Bless you all, and thank you with all my heart! I had been a customer here for many years with many different pets. We always had Dr. Tony see our dogs. He is such a sweet and genuine man, and a great man. Dr. Tony has since retired and now his daughter Diane runs the practice. Oh boy. I have had many rude encounters with this woman but kept going because we love Dr. Tony. I always hear the other customers and even the staff complaining about Dr. Diane. Our Lab Rex has had ear infections on and off. Usually about two or three a year. Dr. Tony always treats them and they disappear. We had discussed that Rex could have some type of allergy, but being that labs are nicknamed "hoovers" and we had small children who would drop snacks, it would be better to just treat the infections as they come because they always responded well to the medications and were only a few times per year. So Dr. Tony is long gone enjoying his life away from his crazy daughter so we have no choice but to see her as the other doctor was booked. Max has had a few encounters with Dr. Diane and my usually lovable big teddy bear just has never liked her. He never snaps or growls but I can just tell he is uncomfortable. Dr. Diane tells us about her allergy testing and how we are basically bad people since we have never done it. I tell her what Dr. Tony's usual treatment is and she laughs and says her dad doesnt know anything. I tell her I will think about but I would like to speak with my husband first because he is a medical doctor. She got very upset and started screaming at me "WELL IS HE A VETERINARY DERMOTOLOGIST?" We continue with the appointment and Rex has gotten very upset at this crazy woman yelling at this mommy so he tries to back away from her when she goes to look into his ears. She now starts screaming at this poor maybe 90 lbs. teenager to hold him (Rex is about 125 lbs.). I go try to help the young girl hold him then Dr. Diane starts screaming at me that I am not a vet and I just need to get away. At the end of the appointment she asks me, verbatim "Why do you need to speak to your husband? Does he not allow you to make your own decisions? I just don't understand woman these days. Do you not have a brain" She then continued to talk about me to the staff right outside the door, and she was screaming and throwing thisng. She really works herself up and clearly has a mental issue. There are many other instances but this was the most recent. Rex has been going to another vet for a while and we are both very happy. Point is STAY AWAY DR. DIANE IS COMPLETLY CRAZY! Read Less

Read Less
