Sad day for me yesterday, had to help my sweet little Gracie cross over the Rainbow Bridge. She has had Inflammatory Bowel Disease for a year, and was on anti-inflammatory meds. I hated to see her run from me, because she knew I needed to give her pills. It hurt me terribly to see a beloved pet run from me. Yesterday, I knew she was very thin, and didn't eat at all. Still purred, and still greeted me at the door with her tail raised, rolling over for her belly to be rubbed. Brought her in, and as it was late, Dr. Lann was gone. Dave was going to give her xrays and test for pancreatitis. Instead he brought me to a room, and told me she had lost too much weight, and had a big mass. I immediately decided with Dave's guidance, that she should be put to sleep. Lisa was very kind and informative in the reception area, and Sherri helped Dave bring her into the room. I had been given many options, but I chose to be with her, hug her and kiss her, and then Dave, with Dr. Lann's authorization, gave her the shot to put her to sleep. Sherri even told me that as she was being prepped, Gracie was looking out the window at plants and birds. Dave was so kind , can't say enough positive things about him, and the rest of the staff. Often speak with Melinda and Pam, who are also gracious and caring! This practice is outstanding with communicating by phone and email! No waiting for hours and hours, sometimes DAYS for test results or information. Today I received a compassionate call from Dr. Lann, expressing his sympathy at the passing of my precious Gracie.
