Imaging you bring your dog in for surgery and you sign an authorization to remove a fat tumor on the dogs belly. The Vet (Dr shevell) decides she will throw an extra one in for free and removes a second tumor from his dorsal hind. No presurgical work up, no post surgical pathology and it turns out It was cancer. 6 months later the tumor is growing back so big it will kill the dog sooner than later. Then imagine you go back to Dr. Beth Shevell and she cannot even remember she removed a second mass from the dog. Then she remembers but is certain it wasn’t the same area. Dr. Weiss has been of no help and is defending his Junior doc with disregard to the facts. This is what I’m going through at Manetto Hill Animal Hospital. Not very professional. They reached out to me on indeed to come in for an interview to take a position they needed filled, meanwhile I never even applied to the hospital. I called a week after the interview as a follow-up and in return got an email saying they haven't made a decision yet and would call me as soon as the decision was made. I never got a phone call or email with a decision. I was doing them a favor by giving them an opportunity to fill a spot they needed and they didn't even have the decency to tell me I wasn't needed. Needed a snap 4dx test and my current vet could not perform. Called USDA-APHIS looking for an accredited vet and they referred me to here. Called them at 1 pm explained my situation and they gave me an appointment for 3 pm this same day. Upon arrival impressed with the large parking area and appearance of the building. Walked in and the place is immaculately clean with a professional friendly staff. Waited less then 10 minutes and was called in to the doctor. Dr Weiss performed the test and did a brief exam on my pet. He was extremely informative & explained each step and did not make me feel rushed. If I could give them a million stars, I would!!!!!!!!We began going to Manetto Hill Animal Hospital shortly after adding 2 baby Yorkshire terriers to our family in February of 2017.  My girls, Ellie and Riley, have seen both Dr. Weiss and Dr. Shevell for their vaccinations and medical maintenance.  They have also been guests at Paw Seasons on numerous occasions while we have been on vacation.  They also go to Maurizio for grooming.  Quite simply, this place is the best in each of the above services, bar none.  The staff is happy, welcoming, courteous and make you feel like part of the family.  The doctors are impeccably skilled practitioners with empathy and compassion.  Just today we picked up Riley after a 4 day admission for acute renal failure.  They quite literally saved her life and essentially ours with a quick, accurate diagnosis and expert treatment.  Dr. Weiss called us twice daily with updates and was always honest, optimistic, and compassionate.  We could tell that he and all of the staff loved Riley and would do anything in their power to return her back to us healthy and safe.  No words could express the gratitude we feel for the entire staff of MHAH.If you are looking for a veterinarian, boarding facility or groomer- you could not find a more attentive, friendly and professional facility.Thank you to the doctors and staff for tirelessly working on Riley, saving her young life, and getting our family through 4 of the most difficult days of our lives.  We are forever grateful. Been using Dr Weiss for over 20 years. When we moved to LI from Qns we stayed with our Qns vet. Our dog had a size able growth on his side that the Qns vet wanted to remove. It would be a difficult recovery for an older dog. On 2nd opinion, Dr. Weiss said leave it be and our dog lived to 17 1/2. Our current dog lived to 15 1/2 all under the care of Dr Weiss. Based on my personal experience stay away from these veterinarians.  My dog had a severe ear infection that left untreated would have ended poorly for him.  I employed the services of the doctors who run this ascetically pleasant looking facility to intervene and arrest this painful and debilitating infection so my dog aka child could have some peace in his life.  Although I asked for some kind of oral antibiotic be used in order to bring this infection under control they chose not to.  Instead they implied as well as insisted that a surgical procedure was the best way to treat the problem at hand.  Some topical medications were were prescribed but after a months worth of treatments nothing was being accomplished to arrest or at least alleviate the problem at hand.  In addition Benadryl was suggested to be added everyday for the rest of his life.  I later found out the Benadryl does absolutely nothing for a dog because their biological systems are entirely different than ours are.Using my sixth sense I felt that the treatments he was receiving were lacking enough intensity to control what was happening to him right before my eyes.  All this time my dog was literally screaming on a daily basis from the pain that resulted from his infected ear.  I went to another doctor who came highly recommended and he immediately put my dog on oral antibiotics until the culture to find out what the infection was came back from the lab.  Upon receiving the results of said culture he switched antibiotics to one more suited for treatment of this problem.  Within one weeks time there was a noticeable difference.  After a months time the infection was gone and the ear canal was back to normal.This new doctor I took my dog to was appalled that the doctors at Manetto Hill did not culture the infection immediately.  Therefore I implore anyone who is considering using this facility to treat their sick animal, to reconsider their decision and look elsewhere for more competent treatments. So I brought my cat in to see Dr Herman at Manetto Hill Animal Hospital. He had very bad breath and was drooling a lot. He was missing fur in spots and had some scabs. Turned out he did not have an endocrine problem nor was he diabetic. So Just wasted money there. He prescribed him an antibiotic for his sores and gave him some benedril and told me he was stressed and overweight! So we left and my poor cat got sick from the antibiotics and the problems continued. I called the vet a number of times and spoke to Dr. Herman who then told me to pick up more medicine. All this medicine cost me more $. Problem still not solved and getting worse. Dr. Herman then told me he had no idea what was wrong with my cat and that he was "doing research online!" and wanted me to bring him back for more tests AKA More $!! I did not bring him back! I took him to DIX HILLS Animal clinic and Dr. Alli was so nice and diagnosed my beloved cats problem immediately without doing any tests. (She looked in his mouth) which Dr. Herman did as well but didn't see the huge tumor under his tongue. Don't know how he missed it, even I saw it when she pointed it out. Turned out unfortunately that it was a cancerous tumor and he was terminal. She also did a tape test and identified his skin problem as well. Dr Herman never did this and had no idea what it could be on his skin. Manetto Hill animal hospital cost me unnecessary $ and suffering to my wonderful cat! I would never go here ever!!! The Manetto Hill Animal Hospital Dr Weiss are great . The saved my dog Prims life .they cared about her to do exploratory surgery and found she had a cyst that ruptured her spleen . PLEASE TAKE THIS ADVISE......STAY AWAY FOR THIS PLACE....MANETTO HILL ANIMAL HOSPITAL....PLAINVIEW, NYMy dog has been vomiting for 4 days and not eating for almost 3 days.  I called around on a Saturday to see who can see her immediately.  Everyone was booked expect Manetto Hill Animal Hospital.  That should have been a warning sign that they had a few openings, WHEN EVERYONE ELSE WAS BOOKED SOLID..   They schedule me for 12:15.  But did not see my dog until about 12:45.  They took X-Rays and gave us a quick diagonals, but stated that they could not do more tests because the staff is leaving and they close at 1pm.  They referred me to a 24 hour emergency vet.   They gave me a bill for $265.  I was livid because, this place was ill equipped to handle ALL procedures (from what I learned from the owner)...and furthermore,  I now have to pay a 2nd time in going to another Vet.   The owner just talked in circles and gave me a line of BS and  told me why they did not have time to help my dog (and then admitted that they actually couldn't help him, because they are ill equipped)...but I still had to pay their fee..   I have owned dogs for many, many years, and I have never experienced anything like this....paying $265 for a 15 minute visit and then they did not even have time to help my dog.  As it turned out, my dog was VERY sick.  As I write this, she is staying overnight at another Vet and hopefully she will survive the night.  If you really care for your pet, PLEASE do not go to Manetto Hill Animal Hospital in Plainview, NY....it is not even a Hospital....they can only do very limited care...they are scam artists......RUN FROM THIS PLACE if you care for you dog and your wallet.I would give them NO STARS,....but the system on here forced me to give them at least 1 starUPDATE:  I went to 2 vets after this.....ALL money sucking vultures that try to take advantage of people when their animals are in REAL need...will try to suck you dry.  I finally tried NORTH SHORE ANIMAL LEAGUE....they have a VET HOSPITAL.  I should have went to them first, because if I did my dog may still be alive.  North  Shore is the only one that cared enough to give my dog the proper treatment.   The VETS to stay away from besides Manetto Hill Animal Hospital are MID ISLAND ANIMAL HOSPITAL (in Hicksville) and Long Island Veterinary Specialists (LIVS)....LIVS is a 24 critical care unit that WILL either not give the full treatment or will RIP you off with their out of this world fees......Trust me go to North Shore Animal League instead....they actually care for animals and are very reasonably prices.....they even worked with me on the payment.....NONE of the other swill....they want their money UP FRONT Read Less

I have never met as doctor that's so uninterested in his patients, but still manages to charge me through the nose. Recently found out the technicians/nurses have never had any education. I highly recommend Manetto Hill Animal Hospital, who provided excellent care and compassion during the difficult decision of having to put my cat to sleep. Dr. Ashley Van Kurin was extremely thorough and knowledgeable when it came to examining my sick cat on more than one occasion. What impressed me the most was that she presented all of the options we had and unlike many veterinarians, she didnt try to up-sell or push me to spend money on tests and biopsies that ultimately would have lead to the same conclusion and result of having to put my cat to sleep. She let me spend as much time as I needed with my cat before the procedure was done and offered to stay until 10 pm or later if I needed more time with him, even though the office is supposed to close at 8 pm. After the procedure was done, she offered to send me a cement block with my cats paw prints and name carved in it, as a keepsake to commemorate his life. A week later, I received it in the mail, along with a hand-written card offering their condolences. All it took was a small gesture like that to secure my loyalty and I will definitely be taking the 2 kittens I adopted from Last Hope Animal Shelter to Manetto Hill Animal Hospital for any and all of their needs. I took my English Bulldog Oscar here a couple of weeks ago after he started having skin problems. He was licking patches of hair off his body and leaving raw red spots where he licked. He was being aggressive towards strangers because of this and didn't like people touching him. When I took him here I was nervous that he was going to be difficult but the staff here made him feel calm and comfortable during his examination and I was shocked. The staff was so nice and gentle, Oscar was happy and in turn made me happy and I wouldn't go anywhere else whenever my Oscar needs help. Needless to say Oscar is now all better. Read Less
