I am writing this review as a warning to other dog owners. Just like Phyllie C., Neil L.,& Lori G., we lost our beloved pet to misdiagnosis and mistreatment by this so called Vet. I wish I had read their reviews before I trusted my darling beloved pet to his inept care. She was a happy, smart, healthy dog who had been bred to be free of certain diseases, including thyroid and kidney disease. Yet, with incomplete testing we were told that she had hypothyroidism. Unfortunately, we found out later that there were more thorough tests that should have been done, but were not. So, we believed the Vets at Plainview Animal Hospital. We should have gotten a second opinion. They repeated the same inadequate tests every few months increasing her dosage of soloxine(thyroid medication). Still, she kept shedding and gaining or losing weight. When we complained that our beloved dog was dribbling urine once in a while, they put her on PROIN, a drug banned in Europe and banned for humans in the US. You may know this drug as Phen Fen because it caused numerous deaths and heart complications in humans trying to lose weight before being removed for sale by the FDA. It also can cause seizures. A simpler solution would have been to prescribe a natural food supplement or parsley, but what did we know? Now, we know. Our dog developed a heart murmur, but we weren't informed about this development until her near demise several years later when it was too late. Every time we took her to the office, we told the Vet that she was shedding way too much and was out of breath. She began to lose too much weight, didn't want to eat her food, & was refusing her medication. I could kick myself for not seeking out another Vet! I closed my eyes to the outdated office that looked like it hadn't been updated since 1947. They finally sent us to a specialist in cardiology, but it was too little, too late. The heart damage was done. Her kidneys were functioning at only 25%. We took the Vet's advice and admitted our baby for treatment for hydration. She was there for 5 torturous days. On a surprise visit, we saw the condition of the hospital where she was kept. There were open exposed drains and crumbling concrete floors. We should have whisked her out of there right away, but we didn't because we were ignorant. She came out of that awful place with infected eyes, mucous oozing from her rear and sore paw pads. She was now afraid of our water hose in our back yard. What had they done to her? Did they spray her with a hose her in her cage? When I asked why she was being put on antibiotics I was told, "It's just a precaution." What was it a precaution from? Was it a precaution from the infections that she got in their hospital that would finally kill her? Did they spray her in her cage to clean her and torture her in her final days? We finally woke up and took her to another more reputable Vet. His blood analysis was so detailed that we felt like fools for having stayed with Deutsch so long. She had come out of the 5 day treatment with 15% kidney function! The new Vet suggested we continue the antibiotic because it looked like she had a UTI (urinary tack infection) for a very long time that had gone undiagnosed by our prior Vet. We grasped at straws and started a treatment regimen to try and prolong our girl's life. She had a few good days, but she soon could not keep food down as her kidneys deteriorated. It was just too late. The family said goodbye to her. She was still giving us kisses on her death bed. We couldn't let her suffer, so we took her to a compassionate Vet and she went to sleep. Do not take your beloved pet to these people! Read reviews on Yelp and go elsewhere. Don't be fooled by his cheap office visit costs. You will get what you pay for, a dead dog. I shall never forget our beloved friend. This is my legacy to her memory. Read Less
