Port Chester Animal Hospital

Port Chester, New York
General Info
Port Chester Animal Hospital in Port Chester provides compassionate and knowledgeable care for pets in the area. Their services include Surgery. The practice’s team understands the profound bond between pets and their families, offering services that enhance wellness, address chronic illnesses, and support urgent medical needs. Port Chester Animal Hospital assists families in Port Chester and neighboring New York regions by planning emotionally paced procedures consistently to minimize interruptions and promote wellness. At the beginning of the tour, animals are allowed to enter at their own pace. Staff monitor how the dogs move around and how long it takes them to settle, which is tightly linked to touch sound and scent cues. Examinations measure skin elasticity together with hydration ranges and limb movement, teeth condition together with the health state of the coat and body weight levels. The checks are followed by discussions on changes in sleeping patterns, feeding times and energy within the house. Port Chester Animal Hospital provides vaccinations and blood work, mobility care and dental planning, preventive guidance and surgical support, as well as long-term care discussions. Service packages are implemented gradually or in bundles depending on the pet’s sensory preferences. Some families choose to space a few shorter visits, while others decide to do one thorough session and then continue by themselves at home. Each plan is based on what the family can realistically implement and takes into account things like the emotional load of caregivers, how well pets tolerate travel, and schedules within the household. Medical appointments offer a chance to write down questions, side notes, and personal stories, which is especially helpful for new users and those managing chronic conditions. Port Chester Animal Hospital helps pet families from Port Chester and neighboring New York communities integrate care into their daily lives as a harmonious rhythm rather than a daunting chore, creating opportunities for connection and consistent wellness.

I think that the person who wrote the last review is short sighted. I got a new dog who was supposedly vetted out by a legitimate veterinarian and got the "free" shots from the dog pound, which were given to my new animal by Dr. Levy, which is how I met him. Twice now, because he insisted on doing a thorough physical before giving the dog any shots, he has found deadly congenital defects in the dogs and saved me thousands of dollars of expensive medical treatments, not to mention the heartache when the dogs would have eventually died. I was able to get the so called healthy dogs back to the pound and got different ones instead. If you have kids, you know the bond that your kids make with their dogs and Dr. Levy saved us a lot of pain by insisting on being thorough. As a matter of fact, we were going to a different vet who had told us that the dog was healthy and when our dog was in an accident and Dr. Levy was covering, we found out he had a serious heart condition that the other vet missed. So, I say that if you are looking for a vet that will treat your pet like you would want your doctor treating you, thoroughly, Port Chester Animal Hospital is the place to be. Read Less

I went to this animal hospital just to get my rabbit's nails cut because I was inexperienced and the reviews looked great. My experience, and surely my rabbit's as well, was horrible. My rabbit, Cucumber, was scared enough as it was because it was her first time at the vet's, but the way they handled her was completely unprofessional and held no compassion that was mentioned in the other reviews. If you're going to hold her down so roughly, I'd expect she'd struggle and try to escape! I was reprimanded for not handling her more often which, at the time, I thought was completely my fault. But a week later, I brought her to a friend's house to see if she could hold Cucumber while I attempt to cut her nails. This friend was able to pick her up perfectly fine with no struggle what so ever and I was able to cut all her nails without a single flinch from her. My friend and I are both new rabbit mothers and are both only 14. If we could pick up our own rabbits with no struggle, I'm sure there was no fault except for the vet's. I'm never taking my rabbit there, again. I would give only one star but the receptionist was lovely and we were not charged for such a failed visit; those were the only pluses. Read Less

Today I brought my two healthy dogs in to this practice for a simple teeth cleaning, a more specialized treatment. My primary vet is with another practice and does not specialize in the cleaning of dogs teeth. I feel I was very poorly treated here. And I lost an hour of my day. I was originally told by their reception/or tech assistant that their primary vet required a blood test first to make certain there was no issue with putting the dogs under. This made complete sense. What did not make sense was the vet's insistence on recreating a complete physical per dog, on my appearance, even though both were recently seen by my primary vet and received a clean bill of health. I had also told the receptionist on arriving that my primary vet could fax any information needed to them. I felt this duplication quite uneccesary. People dont have complete physicals when seen by their dentist! Vet's are not regulated to behave in the manner of our own doctors--I feel this is a huge mistake. Boutique veterinarians in our day appear to be most concerned with making their money and disregard the fact that all of these additional treatments prescribed are costly and in the end potentially weaken the state of our healthy dogs in the USA. The American lines of this breed are not very sound. Both of my dogs are from imported and healthy bloodlines. Sadly working with some of todays vets can make it appear very difficult to try to keep them this way. L. Lyons Read Less
