I usually don’t write reviews for many places. But I think I need to for this vet place. My Guinea pig was extremely sick and was loosing a lot of weight. We were schedule an appointment on Monday, Dr. Brain Rose he ran a X-ray, temperate, and did a full checkup on her. Her X-ray shows she had a lump in her stomach, but instead of asking us to go to another vet knowing that my Guinea pig need’s emergency care, he made us wait till Thursday for a ultrasound which we were charge over $600. Meanwhile, she was prescribed Baytril Oral Soln for infection when clearly she didn’t have any infection but a lump in her stomach. The medicine the doctor prescribed, made her loose more weight and she stopped eating. I was getting worried and eventually search it up myself why she stopped eating and it was caused by the medicine the doctor prescribed. I called him and he said to stopped taking the Baytril and prescribed her with medicine that made her eat which did not even works. She started eating and went back to her own self after stopping all the medicine she was prescribed. Her result came back on Friday, and she had a 5 c.m lump in her stomach ,the doctor himself did not even know what to do, that he needed to ask the ultrasound guy what the next step was and we did not hear back till Monday. Monday evenings he called and basically told us, that he could not perform the surgery and that he would recommend us to another vet place….. We eventually went to the other vet place and was told the ultrasound and X-ray was useless in determining what my Guinea pig had. We spend over 1.2k in Port Jefferson Animal Hospital on nothing, not only that he made my Guinea pig suffer by prescribing her with the wrong medicine . Instead in the beginning if he was a a good doctor he would recommended us to another hospital ASAP. By that time my Guinea pig Lump has grew to 10 c.m on Monday after a CT scan in the other vet location in which the result came out the same day and was told that ULTASOUND and Xray are useless on guinea pig. We eventually needed to put her to sleep because her lump was pushing all her organs. I have never been so angry and disappointed before with anyone, they killed my Guinea pig knowing from the very start that they could not do anything. They took $1,240 and basically left us with nothing. If he recommended us to another vet location in the beginning and not made us wait 4 days for an ultrasound, knowing she in a bad condition she would have lived and she would have been here with us. NOT ONLY THAT IT IS THE DOCTOR FAULT FOR MAKING HER LUMP GROW, from all the waiting in between Monday and to the following Tuesday from his lack of experience. Her lump could have been so small on Monday but he made us wait till Thursday when it grew to 5 c.m and then to 10 c.m on the following Tuesday. In 7 days her lump grew because they wanted to perform useless XRAY and ultrasound on her that does not work for guinea pig to find out the problem. THIS COULD HAVE ALL BEEN PREVENTED IF HE WAS HONEST THAT HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. But, now she is gone, we lost our money and our Guinea pig is killed by Dr. Brain Rose. The picture below is my beloved guinea pig that is now gone and killed by him.I want everyone to know what happen to my guinea pig. I will be reporting the doctor to the American Veterinary medical Association.

Can’t put the blame solely on the Dr for my hens death but I will put the blame on Him for leaving her in the incompetent hands of Chris, his assistant. I believe he had no knowledge of what you can and CANNOT do with a bird.
Dr Rose tried to bring her back but it was too late, but I do appreciate the effort. However I do not appreciate jokes being made about my “dead chicken.” By your idiot assistant and your nurse. I find that despicable! This was my pet and we bring our pets to vets such as yourself for healing and compassion. I received neither. I was completely distraught when I walked out of there, then to hear the laughter from their very inappropriate jokes made me sick to my stomach. Since I never received a call/card etc., I called Dr Rose and he admitted he knew what happened and he told me that was not the first incident. Well he can be sure that was the last incident with me.

Although the wait was long even with an appointment, the overall visit was excellent. I had brought my 3 guinea pigs in who were really sick. Its hard to find a place who with take small pets. The doctors were very knowledgable and helpful. Almost a year later, and my babies are still alive and healthy thanks to the doctors here.

The building was easy to spot from the road. The staff was pretty friendly though it seemed chaotic in the back office. I'd say it took about 30-45 minutes before me and my two boy rabbits were seen. Dr. Brian was knowledgeable, patient, and rather thorough. I brought my father with me and it did kind of feel like Dr. Brian was trying a bit harder to explain things to him, even though I'm the owner (and clearly stated that at the beginning of the appointment). He did answer all my questions. Plus, I finally know how much my bunnies weigh, they received a complimentary nail trimming, and I was given an informational packet to take home. Overall, I like this animal hospital, will be using them in the future, and would recommend them.

Good place to take your animal and be assured they're in good hands. Dr. Jeffrey is excellent at explaining everything I need to know in order to keep my animal happy and healthy. You do have to wait a little to be called up but every doctor will have a wait time. The receptionists can tend to be rude and have attitudes even when you approach them nicely. Besides that, I would definitely recommend this place, especially for exotic pet owners.

Good place to take your animal and be assured they're in good hands. Dr. Jeffrey is excellent at explaining everything I need to know in order to keep my animal happy and healthy. You do have to wait a little to be called up but every doctor will have a wait time. The receptionists can tend to be rude and have attitudes even when you approach them nicely. Besides that, I would definitely recommend this place, especially for exotic pet owners.

Dr. Brian was absolutely amazingly loving and attentive to my rabbit!My rabbit has been experiencing bouts of tummy trouble, and Dr. Brian was so fantastically thorough with her check up. He did not rush, and took his time to check her tummy, and also every other aspect of her body as well. He spoke in length about what the options were in terms of dealing with her illness - conservative / financially conscious and aggressive / possibly higher cost. He suggested for the conservative option to begin with and prescribed a few medications to help aid her tummy. He administered her first dose and also walked me through on the best method of giving my rabbit the medication in the comforts of my own home. The receptionists were also very friendly and you could tell that they cared about every visitor. While waiting, I noticed that they would happily greet every returning visitor without even looking at the paperwork! Once you're there, there's no denying that everyone working at the Jefferson Animal Hospital genuinely and truly cares about the wellbeing of your furry family member!

Where to even begin? I have been taking my ferrets here for almost a decade, & have been taken in immediately when I had several pet emergency situations. Both Dr. Jeff & Dr. Brian have preformed multiple surgeries on my pets, ranging from surgery on a parakeet, gerbil, & my dog. They were compassionate, empathetic, & more often went above & beyond my expectations. I can't tell you how many times Brian stayed Late to make calls to update his clients, never rushing when I asked 20 different times what something means, & the time he personally drove to a emergency hospital that had a blood bank because my dog needed a transfusion, well after business hours. Dr. Jeff even went back to check on my pet in the middle of the night. No place else have I ever experienced that level of dedication. They have a great working relationship with experts both local & across the country & will consult them on complex cases. Don't even get me started on the staff, top notch, always welcoming, true animal lovers, and YES...Kim will recognize people's voices, she says hello to me by name when I call before I even have a chance to say my name! When my German Shepard was sick they were able to pinpoint the illness, surgically remove his mass, & provided me with medications that were both pharmaceutical & holistic & through their dedication allowed my dog to exceed the 3 week prognosis. Thanks to them I had the opportunity to spend almost another year with him, pain free. There is no question in my mind that had I called another veterinarian I would have never gotten such dedicated care, compassion, & professionalism. Top notch.

I LOVE THEM!!! I HATED my first vet when my puppy was two months old. I felt lost and not knowing where to bring him. A family friend reccomended Jefferson Animal Hospital, and they are amazing. They are tentative and caring. They call my puppy Prince Myles and I genuinely feel like they have his best interest at heart. I realized how amazing they are when my puppy fractured his growth plate while I was out of the country and my mom was watching him. She called them asap and they took her that day and helped her through he whole process since we were out of town. They recommended an AMAZING surgeon and the whole process of him getting surgery went smoothly. I couldn't be more thankful, they call us to see how he's doing and are very kind. I love this vet!!

I have two young guinea pigs (Hershey and Cocoa) and did extensive research on exotic veterinarians both before and after I adopted them. The staff here was able to get us in quickly when I first adopted them in the summer of 2014 for their first checkup. I thought that Dr. Jeff was thorough and answered all of my questions.Fast forward (almost) a year and my little fur monsters were getting dry paws. Both of them had dry and scaly feet. I've taken them in for two appointments regarding the issue and both the front desk staff, vet tech, and veterinarian (Dr Felicia Cohen) were accommodating and attentive to my concerns about my guinea pigs and my schedule. I have found their prices to be reasonable and am glad to have chosen them as Hershey and Cocoa's caretakers! Also, I learned they board guinea pigs in addition to dogs and cats! The boarding service (I have not used) and their exam prices are reasonable.

Been going for years with multiple pets, the Doctors are top notch and truly care about you and your furry children and while some may say they have to be as 2 of the 3 doctors (brothers) own the place but that's not it, they truly care you can sense that its not a customer service act.Most importantly though, the Staff is nothing short of awesome even in the heat of activity they take the time to care and listen. I'm actually don't know what it says but Kim even knows my voice, hopefully that a good thing but that is just the attention to detail you want. The follow-up the next day and there ability to answer most questions and concerns without saying IDK will take a message is a real added plus. The technicians have been their for years and honestly the level of knowledge and professionalism makes we wonder why they don't have their own place, you will never feel well I need to speak with the Doctor cause if the Doctor hasn't already spoken to you be assured they will and no matter who I have spoken with I have never gotten mixed signals about care and that is crucial you want to know that the people you trust know that they are doing and they sure do. All is well and good but so you ask well what about price, well simply put - you get what you pay for. While I am sure you may find cheaper places and more expensive places, if you are honest with yourself and the care of your animal and actively manage their care you will not be forced into a financial situation that cause you not to provide for your pet. In other words go for the annuals, give the flea/tic meds, get the others labs done so if there is an issue you can work with this dedicated team towards what's best for your pet and yourself. Think about pet insurance also.The wait while sometimes long is only because an emergency issue came in but also because you are not rushed when it is your turn, most of my time has not really been taken up by them working on my pet but in the consultation of what the issue is, what does it mean and what my options are for care. In the end you really cant ask for more that that, oh wait I can but that is for another time.

Awful. They have been sucking us dry with appointment after appointment for nonsense. Our puppy had her ears cropped before we picked her up. They promised much experience with this procedure, yet did not bandage her ears properly. We had to bring her back to get her ears REposted after their first failed attempt. They put her under anesthesia to put TAPE on her ears, but upon picking her up the receptionist said they had to tape her 3 times because she kept getting the tape off. So, did they have to put her under 3 times to do so? Obviously not, which means they conned over 100 bucks for anesthesia alone and put a little puppy under for no reason (if they even did at all, who knows). To make matters worse, they didn't leave her ears with any room to breathe under all of the tape and when we took it off her ears were infected and smelt disgusting. She had not ONE open wound in her ears for this round of taping, the stitches were completely healed. Both visits for TAPE cost over $600 and now we have another costly problem on our hands because of their incompetence. In the past month that we have had our puppy, we have pumped $1500 into this dump because we trusted them. Yet, you would think we were trying to get the president on the phone in our attempts to get Dr. Rose to speak with us about his poor practice. I highly recommend you bring your business elsewhere, these people are parasites.

I travel almost all year for business so my ""babies"" get to visit ALOT of different vets from all over the country & the Dr's at Jefferson Animal hospital are by far the BEST. We especially like Dr Moran!! she is very thorough & seems to have genuine compassion for animals & concerns for there well being. I am an overprotective Mamma & always have a ton of questions which get patiently answered without me feeling as though Im being rushed or a burden which is a feat because this place is almost always busy!! I also love that there a wide range hospital not just limited to cats & dogs they have expertise with rabbits & other ""pocket pets"" as well! Last summer they performed cosmetic surgery on my bunnies eyelid which Is definetely not common!! They have fair prices they do not over charge & the only reason I didnt give them 5* is because even with an appointment theres always a bit of a wait, they are very popular!! I wish the rest of the country had vets like these to offer!!!

We were schedule an appointment on Monday, Dr. Brain Rose he ran a X-ray, temperate, and did a full checkup on her. Her X-ray shows she had a lump in her stomach, but instead of asking us to go to another vet knowing that my Guinea pig need’s emergency care, he made us wait till Thursday for a ultrasound which we were charge over $600. Meanwhile, she was prescribed Baytril Oral Soln for infection when clearly she didn’t have any infection but a lump in her stomach. The medicine the doctor prescribed, made her loose more weight and she stopped eating. I was getting worried and eventually search it up myself why she stopped eating and it was caused by the medicine the doctor prescribed. I called him and he said to stopped taking the Baytril and prescribed her with medicine that made her eat which did not even works. She started eating and went back to her own self after stopping all the medicine she was prescribed. Her result came back on Friday, and she had a 5 c.m lump in her stomach ,the doctor himself did not even know what to do, that he needed to ask the ultrasound guy what the next step was and we did not hear back till Monday. Monday evenings he called and basically told us, that he could not perform the surgery and that he would recommend us to another vet place….. We eventually went to the other vet place and was told the ultrasound and X-ray was useless in determining what my Guinea pig had. We spend over 1.2k in Port Jefferson Animal Hospital on nothing, not only that he made my Guinea pig suffer by prescribing her with the wrong medicine . Instead in the beginning if he was a a good doctor he would recommended us to another hospital ASAP. By that time my Guinea pig Lump has grew to 10 c.m on Monday after a CT scan in the other vet location in which the result came out the same day and was told that ULTASOUND and Xray are useless on guinea pig. We eventually needed to put her to sleep because her lump was pushing all her organs. I have never been so angry and disappointed before with anyone, they killed my Guinea pig knowing from the very start that they could not do anything. They took $1,240 and basically left us with nothing. If he recommended us to another vet location in the beginning and not made us wait 4 days for an ultrasound, knowing she in a bad condition she would have lived and she would have been here with us. NOT ONLY THAT IT IS THE DOCTOR FAULT FOR MAKING HER LUMP GROW, from all the waiting in between Monday and to the following Tuesday from his lack of experience. Her lump could have been so small on Monday but he made us wait till Thursday when it grew to 5 c.m and then to 10 c.m on the following Tuesday. In 7 days her lump grew because they wanted to perform useless XRAY and ultrasound on her that does not work for guinea pig to find out the problem. THIS COULD HAVE ALL BEEN PREVENTED IF HE WAS HONEST THAT HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. But, now she is gone, we lost our money and our Guinea pig is killed by Dr. Brain Rose. The picture below is my beloved guinea pig that is now gone and killed by him.I want everyone to know what happen to my guinea pig. I will be reporting the doctor to the American Veterinary medical Association.

Dr Rose tried to bring her back but it was too late, but I do appreciate the effort. However I do not appreciate jokes being made about my “dead chicken.” By your idiot assistant and your nurse. I find that despicable! This was my pet and we bring our pets to vets such as yourself for healing and compassion. I received neither. I was completely distraught when I walked out of there, then to hear the laughter from their very inappropriate jokes made me sick to my stomach. Since I never received a call/card etc., I called Dr Rose and he admitted he knew what happened and he told me that was not the first incident. Well he can be sure that was the last incident with me.

The doctors were very knowledgable and helpful. Almost a year later, and my babies are still alive and healthy thanks to the doctors here.

The building was easy to spot from the road. The staff was pretty friendly though it seemed chaotic in the back office. I'd say it took about 30-45 minutes before me and my two boy rabbits were seen. Dr. Brian was knowledgeable, patient, and rather thorough. I brought my father with me and it did kind of feel like Dr. Brian was trying a bit harder to explain things to him, even though I'm the owner (and clearly stated that at the beginning of the appointment). He did answer all my questions. Plus, I finally know how much my bunnies weigh, they received a complimentary nail trimming, and I was given an informational packet to take home. Overall, I like this animal hospital, will be using them in the future, and would recommend them.

You do have to wait a little to be called up but every doctor will have a wait time. The receptionists can tend to be rude and have attitudes even when you approach them nicely. Besides that, I would definitely recommend this place, especially for exotic pet owners.

You do have to wait a little to be called up but every doctor will have a wait time. The receptionists can tend to be rude and have attitudes even when you approach them nicely. Dr. Brian was absolutely amazingly loving and attentive to my rabbit!My rabbit has been experiencing bouts of tummy trouble, and Dr. Brian was so fantastically thorough with her check up. He did not rush, and took his time to check her tummy, and also every other aspect of her body as well. He spoke in length about what the options were in terms of dealing with her illness - conservative / financially conscious and aggressive / possibly higher cost. He suggested for the conservative option to begin with and prescribed a few medications to help aid her tummy. He administered her first dose and also walked me through on the best method of giving my rabbit the medication in the comforts of my own home. The receptionists were also very friendly and you could tell that they cared about every visitor. While waiting, I noticed that they would happily greet every returning visitor without even looking at the paperwork! Once you're there, there's no denying that everyone working at the Jefferson Animal Hospital genuinely and truly cares about the wellbeing of your furry family member!

Where to even begin? I have been taking my ferrets here for almost a decade, & have been taken in immediately when I had several pet emergency situations. Both Dr. Jeff & Dr. Brian have preformed multiple surgeries on my pets, ranging from surgery on a parakeet, gerbil, & my dog. They were compassionate, empathetic, & more often went above & beyond my expectations. I can't tell you how many times Brian stayed Late to make calls to update his clients, never rushing when I asked 20 different times what something means, & the time he personally drove to a emergency hospital that had a blood bank because my dog needed a transfusion, well after business hours. Dr. Jeff even went back to check on my pet in the middle of the night. No place else have I ever experienced that level of dedication. They have a great working relationship with experts both local & across the country & will consult them on complex cases. Don't even get me started on the staff, top notch, always welcoming, true animal lovers, and YES...Kim will recognize people's voices, she says hello to me by name when I call before I even have a chance to say my name! When my German Shepard was sick they were able to pinpoint the illness, surgically remove his mass, & provided me with medications that were both pharmaceutical & holistic & through their dedication allowed my dog to exceed the 3 week prognosis. Thanks to them I had the opportunity to spend almost another year with him, pain free. There is no question in my mind that had I called another veterinarian I would have never gotten such dedicated care, compassion, & professionalism. Top notch.

I LOVE THEM!!! I HATED my first vet when my puppy was two months old. I felt lost and not knowing where to bring him. A family friend reccomended Jefferson Animal Hospital, and they are amazing. They are tentative and caring. They call my puppy Prince Myles and I genuinely feel like they have his best interest at heart. I realized how amazing they are when my puppy fractured his growth plate while I was out of the country and my mom was watching him. She called them asap and they took her that day and helped her through he whole process since we were out of town. They recommended an AMAZING surgeon and the whole process of him getting surgery went smoothly. I couldn't be more thankful, they call us to see how he's doing and are very kind. I love this vet!!

I have two young guinea pigs (Hershey and Cocoa) and did extensive research on exotic veterinarians both before and after I adopted them. The staff here was able to get us in quickly when I first adopted them in the summer of 2014 for their first checkup. I thought that Dr. Jeff was thorough and answered all of my questions.Fast forward (almost) a year and my little fur monsters were getting dry paws. Both of them had dry and scaly feet. I've taken them in for two appointments regarding the issue and both the front desk staff, vet tech, and veterinarian (Dr Felicia Cohen) were accommodating and attentive to my concerns about my guinea pigs and my schedule. I have found their prices to be reasonable and am glad to have chosen them as Hershey and Cocoa's caretakers! Also, I learned they board guinea pigs in addition to dogs and cats! The boarding service (I have not used) and their exam prices are reasonable.

Been going for years with multiple pets, the Doctors are top notch and truly care about you and your furry children and while some may say they have to be as 2 of the 3 doctors (brothers) own the place but that's not it, they truly care you can sense that its not a customer service act.Most importantly though, the Staff is nothing short of awesome even in the heat of activity they take the time to care and listen. I'm actually don't know what it says but Kim even knows my voice, hopefully that a good thing but that is just the attention to detail you want. The follow-up the next day and there ability to answer most questions and concerns without saying IDK will take a message is a real added plus. The technicians have been their for years and honestly the level of knowledge and professionalism makes we wonder why they don't have their own place, you will never feel well I need to speak with the Doctor cause if the Doctor hasn't already spoken to you be assured they will and no matter who I have spoken with I have never gotten mixed signals about care and that is crucial you want to know that the people you trust know that they are doing and they sure do. All is well and good but so you ask well what about price, well simply put - you get what you pay for. While I am sure you may find cheaper places and more expensive places, if you are honest with yourself and the care of your animal and actively manage their care you will not be forced into a financial situation that cause you not to provide for your pet. In other words go for the annuals, give the flea/tic meds, get the others labs done so if there is an issue you can work with this dedicated team towards what's best for your pet and yourself. Think about pet insurance also.The wait while sometimes long is only because an emergency issue came in but also because you are not rushed when it is your turn, most of my time has not really been taken up by them working on my pet but in the consultation of what the issue is, what does it mean and what my options are for care. In the end you really cant ask for more that that, oh wait I can but that is for another time.

Awful. They have been sucking us dry with appointment after appointment for nonsense. Our puppy had her ears cropped before we picked her up. They promised much experience with this procedure, yet did not bandage her ears properly. We had to bring her back to get her ears REposted after their first failed attempt. They put her under anesthesia to put TAPE on her ears, but upon picking her up the receptionist said they had to tape her 3 times because she kept getting the tape off. So, did they have to put her under 3 times to do so? Obviously not, which means they conned over 100 bucks for anesthesia alone and put a little puppy under for no reason (if they even did at all, who knows). To make matters worse, they didn't leave her ears with any room to breathe under all of the tape and when we took it off her ears were infected and smelt disgusting. She had not ONE open wound in her ears for this round of taping, the stitches were completely healed. Both visits for TAPE cost over $600 and now we have another costly problem on our hands because of their incompetence. In the past month that we have had our puppy, we have pumped $1500 into this dump because we trusted them. Yet, you would think we were trying to get the president on the phone in our attempts to get Dr. Rose to speak with us about his poor practice. I highly recommend you bring your business elsewhere, these people are parasites.

I travel almost all year for business so my ""babies"" get to visit ALOT of different vets from all over the country & the Dr's at Jefferson Animal hospital are by far the BEST. We especially like Dr Moran!! she is very thorough & seems to have genuine compassion for animals & concerns for there well being. I am an overprotective Mamma & always have a ton of questions which get patiently answered without me feeling as though Im being rushed or a burden which is a feat because this place is almost always busy!! I also love that there a wide range hospital not just limited to cats & dogs they have expertise with rabbits & other ""pocket pets"" as well! Last summer they performed cosmetic surgery on my bunnies eyelid which Is definetely not common!! They have fair prices they do not over charge & the only reason I didnt give them 5* is because even with an appointment theres always a bit of a wait, they are very popular!! I wish the rest of the country had vets like these to offer!!!
