I have no other words than simply WONDERFUL for this place to take your furry feline. Dr. Marcia Landefeld and her staff are just beyond amazing when it come to the love and the care that they provide your cat or should we say "family member".  I came across Dr. Landefeld after a horrible experience I had with a veterinarian in the Bayside area a few years back. The long and short of that horrible experience and I quote the veterinarian, "your cat is sick and its going to die". Wow, what a way to speak to a pet owner. When I say this man had no compassion, I really mean it was no compassion. Yes my cat did pass away, I gave her a lovely home after her original owner died, She was a beautiful creature and to this day I have such great memories of her.Now back to Dr. Landefeld. I researched a lot of veterinarians before bringing my grandcat to her. Garth has been with me off and on since his real mom (my daughter) has had apartment pet acceptance issues in Boston. Boston landlords seem to be sticklers for pets and people living in Boston move around like campers, anyway, now it seems that Garth has been with me more than his own cat mom. That being said, I wanted only the best veterinarian for the sweet Garth. Garth has come to Feline Veterinary for all of his check ups, his vaccinations and for the lovely lion grooming cut that Dr. Landefeld is so great at doing. Garth goes in for his grooming on a Tuesday and stays overnight just because Dr. Landefeld wants to make sure all of the anesthesia has worn off. Garth is a long haired cat and with long haired cats sometimes you get the occasional present of the hairball. I find when Garth gets his lion cut, the hairballs are eliminated and besides he just looks so cute with the puffy mane and puffy tail. Because of his ginger color he looks like a miniature lion. During this visit for beautification, Garth received his annual check up, his vaccinations and his beautiful grooming. I received a call from Dr. Landefeld in the afternoon telling me Garth was fine and was awake and doing great. She also called to make a suggestion that because Garth was getting older that maybe it would be good to do a little extra screening of his blood work. I was appreciative of her call and giving me the option of the standard bloodwork or the extra screening. She also indicated that Garth had gained a little weight since his last visit and recommendations were made to cut some calories. I guess his 11PM snacks are the culprit. The staff at this hospital are so caring to the cats and you can just feel the love when they talk about the patient cats and their own pets. Dr. Landefeld staff are the cats pajamas!I know Garth will be on another journey soon to his cat mom, as she has moved to Texas and living arrangements are so that cats are welcome. I will certainly miss sweet Garth and I will miss taking him to this wonderful Veterinary Hospital. Port Washington is a bit of a hike from the Bayside area, so this is not your neighborhood vet hospital but it certainly is worth the drive. Even if I lived farther away I would still make the drive to Dr. Landefeld. She is just the cats meow when it comes to cats and their care. She is purr....riffic!Here is the website so you can read more.felineveterinaryhospital… Read Less

I never met this vetenarian before, so I was amazed at the compassion she had for me and the two stray kittens I found. Without any questions and after calling approximately 30 shelters and other vets, she opened her doors and her heart and allowed me to bring these kittens to her for the proper care. She did so without accepting a penny. I even called my own vetenarian whom I use for my dog, and he rejected me. Dr Landefeld not only has given these homeless newborns medical care, but is keeping them, bottle feeding every 3 hours, and will continue to care for then until they find a home. This is the kind of compassionate doctor that anyone would be fortunate enough to have for there own pet. I highly recommend her. Read Less

I find that they are more up to date on everything, from behavioral issues to medical issues, where other places can be well meaning, but just wrong. The Vet, Dr. Marcia Landefeld, is extremely patient with the more frightened kitties and extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of cat care. The doctors staff is also a genuine pleasure to deal with. My cat had a problem in one of her ears for years. Every other vet told me it was just extra wax and not to worry about it, but it seemed to really bother the cat (scratching, shaking her head if you touched her on that side, etc.). This vet ran tests and diagnosed an infection, which we treated successfully. My cat is much more comfortable. Was this a grave problem? No, but no other vet even bothered to take a culture and investigate. I had to pay for tests but I appreciated the diligence. And my cat is much happier. Read Less
