Buyer beware? More like buyer stay far, far away. I received nothing more than abysmal care and customer service from Port Washington Animal Hospital.
From the tests done incorrectly to tests ordered without authorization; from the undereducated staff who ordered said tests to the absolutely atrocious bedside manner (if you can even call it that) of Dr. Ezell; from the 1990s technological capabilities to the emotionally unstable staff, this is by far the worst animal hospital I have ever been to or heard of.
We took our dog in for a suspected condition and had tests that have nothing to do with that condition done without our permission (so much so that they were eventually refunded). Once the legitimate tests came back “negative” (though we subsequently discovered that the test was done incorrectly), we had a licensed (I assume) veterinarian say that since “the test was negative” the condition “could really be anything,” including a tumor that, given its location on my dog’s body, would be extremely challenging to surgically remove, if not inoperable. After delivering this news, the “doctor” made a snarky dad joke as a sign off.
As someone who works in healthcare I know firsthand that it is both excellence of practice and compassion of healthcare delivery that makes a great medical professional. The staff at Port Washington Animal Hospital have neither.
If you care about your animals and your own sanity, I strongly encourage you to drive a bit further afield and visit West Hills Animal Hospital, where your family member will be cared for with the utmost professionalism and you will receive expert care from individuals who are passionate about their chosen profession, share your concern and personally invest in your pet’s outcomes, and work at the very top of their accreditation.
If I could find out if anyone at Port Washington Animal Hospital is affiliated with AVMA, I would send them a formal complaint – unsurprisingly, this accreditation is either nonexistent or not visible so, for now, this will have to suffice. Read Less
