I just left this clinic a few hours ago. I brought my newly adopted cat to establish care with a different veterinarian. To be honest, I am most impressed by the front desk woman and their vet technician! Their vet tech is compassionate, knowledgeable and empathetic. She was able to immediately state what the vet was probably going to prescribe and start teaching. Now, THAT is an awesome and experienced nurse who is in tune with her furry patients. The doctor was nice, also, but again, I am highly praising their staff. A doctor is only as good as their staff, because it is they who relay what is happening. I say this because I am a nurse for people, so I feel that I know what people should look for. Sure, I'd bring my pets back there. No doubt.

IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS AVOID GOING TO MERRICK ANIMAL HOSPITAL IN N.Y. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN AND INVESTIGATED!!!!!This review is long overdue, if i can give this place 0 stars I would for their negligence and not taking responsibility for the death of our cat Felicity who died on July 11, 2018. Our young healthy cat died in the hands of one of their irresponsible Vets. Our cat Felicity died of septic shock last month because the Vet who was suppose to treat her constipation decided to cut inside her colon because he "thought" he saw a polyp and ended up tearing and damaging her colon. He did not tell us what he was going to do and we would have definitely not given him permission for him to that. We ended up paying 400 dollars for the visit and even worse we had to rush Felicity to an emergency animal clinic so they can perform surgery to repair the colon. The surgery costed 10,000+ and she ended up dying. The Manager of the Animal Hospital never called to apologize nor offer to repay us for the cost of the expense. We lost our cat who meant the world to us and over 10,000 in less than 24 hours. Felicity meant so much to us and her life is irreplaceable.

The staff and receptionist were very patient and helpful when dealing with my troublesome cat. But then, when I was leaving, the doctor on duty suggested that I get my 1 year old cat declawed. I was so shocked that a vet would suggest such a thing. I'm really disappointed because the staff was really nice and the location of this place is convenient. But I don't agree with the doctor's suggestion and I will not be going back there.

Horrible clinic. After taking x-rays and cutting my dog open for no reason(no operation was performed) they made a quick suggestion that I should euthanize him. Of course I would not make a hasty decision to kill my dog so I paid for an overnight stay so that another vet could come in and see him the next day. The next vet took a quick look at him without opening him up again said that the problem was just normal fatty tissue and that nothing needed to be done. I ended up paying over $1,000 and had to go through the fear of possibly losing my dog just to be told that nothing needed to be done. Of course we also had to pay for the pain killers too.This place is a waste of money and time.

I have been going to Merrick vet for about a couple of years. I only have wonderful things to say about the vet. The staff members are friendly and comforting. My yorkie, Angell had surgery in September by Dr Romero. I was a nervous wreck but the staff made me feel right at home. Dr Romero and his staff did a terrific job. I am forever grateful. We Also had his nails clipped there twice and they butchered him, where he blead. He has not been back of course!

I just left this clinic a few hours ago. I brought my newly adopted cat to establish care with a different veterinarian. To be honest, I am most impressed by the front desk woman and their vet technician! Their vet tech is compassionate, knowledgeable and empathetic. She was able to immediately state what the vet was probably going to prescribe and start teaching. Now, THAT is an awesome and experienced nurse who is in tune with her furry patients. The doctor was nice, also, but again, I am highly praising their staff. A doctor is only as good as their staff, because it is they who relay what is happening. I say this because I am a nurse for people, so I feel that I know what people should look for. Sure, I'd bring my pets back there. No doubt.

The staff and receptionist were very patient and helpful when dealing with my troublesome cat. But then, when I was leaving, the doctor on duty suggested that I get my 1 year old cat declawed. I was so shocked that a vet would suggest such a thing. I'm really disappointed because the staff was really nice and the location of this place is convenient. But I don't agree with the doctor's suggestion and I will not be going back there.

We Also had his nails clipped there twice and they butchered him, where he blead. He has not been back of course!
