All I can say is they were wonderful!!!!! I was on my way to my regular vet in Southampton from Center Moriches for a Dog emergency. I got to Hampton Bay and was stuck in a dead stop with no let up in sight. There was no way I was going to get there in time for my dog. I turned around to go to the emergency vet in Riverhead and passed The Animal Hospital of Riverhead. Quick pulled in check rating on yelp and they had almost 5 stars. Ran in and explained the situation to the girls at the desk. They were great. They spoke to the doctor and he had NO problem seeing me at all and didn't have to wait more than 5 min. He was nice, caring and lifted my spirits that my dog was going to be ok. They spoke to my other vets office to get his records and I was able to leave him there to be treated and picked up in the afternoon. I cannot tell you how much I love these people. They could have told me to continue on to the emergency vet but they didn't. Everyone was super nice and treated my dog like one of their own and I did not have to pay a million $$. I cannot express enough how Dr. Lacchar and staff here treat my pets as if they were their own and they have been seen since March 2017. He knows exactly what to do when they are sick and is compassionate, empathetic, and so knowledgeable in every diagnosis. This is the only animal hospital in which I have taken them to, in which they are not afraid and know they get help and excellent care. I would not take them anywhere else. I recently started working for the Animal Hospital of Riverhead when an opportunity arose because of my wonderful experience here with my pets and the staff. I called around 11:20am Monday for an appt. after a few days of my dog not eating well. Dr. Lachhar was going into surgery at 12pm. The receptionist said if I could bring her down before 12pm they would see her. I brought her right down. I have to say I didn't really think anything life threatening was wrong with her. I had just put down some pest killer outside a few days prior and figured she may have come in contact with some. But after a few questions and an examination Dr. Lachhar knew it was pyometra. He recommend an X-ray which we did and it showed her enlarged uterus, which he then drew blood to insure it was infected. The next morning he called me immediately with the blood results confirming his prognosis. He gave me two options (his recommendation) surgery, or antibiotics (which wasn't a guarantee cure). Since the antibiotics wasn't guaranteed to work and she needed to be spayed anyway I went with his recommendation. We scheduled the surgery for the following morning. Thank god we did, she was his 2nd worse case in the past 22yrs, she would of become septic if untreated probably and most likely died. Can't thank him enough! He was reasonably priced and the staff was so friendly and loving towards my Storm. Connie (I'm guessing his tech.) walked us out and made sure she got in my truck safely. I will only be using Dr. Lachhar from now on, since her current vet is on the more expensive side. I also noticed they clipped her nails and cleaned her ears at no charge. :) couldn't be more pleased with choosing them!Read Less

After going to two other Vets. We thought we were going to have to put our cat to sleep. After treatment and surgery at Riverhead . Mr. Jingles is doing great and my two children didn't have to deal with their pet of two years dying. Great place and I highly recommend it. Read Less

Dr. Lachhar and his staff are both knowledgable and professional. His assistant treated my beloved friend, Copper, with extreme care while the doctor performed a thorough examination. His recommendations for treatment were based solely on Copper's best interests. In fact, Dr. Lachhar suggested inexpensive, all-natural supplements to treat his arthritis. From my experience, most veterinarians tend to push costly medications without first considering more conservative options. After finishing the examination, Dr. Lachhar told me to call him in a week to check on Copper's improvement. In 15 years, I have never met a veterinarian who was so considerate. My wife and I went to Riverhead Animal Hospital with our dog. We found his staff to be very helpful & courteous. Our dog was very sick. Dr. Lachhar really saved our dog Mikey's life. My dog, Chewy, just loves to go see the doctor and staff. He gets just as excited as if he was going to Petco, lol. The vet and the staff are very kind to him and they seem very knowledgeable. Last Wednesday was a very hard day for our family. We had to make the difficult decision for end the suffering that our dog Princess was going through. When we arrived at the hospital everyone was so kind and caring. They made one of the worst days just a little easier. Then today in the mail I received the nicest sympathy card from the hospital. Dr. Lachhar. Most unethical Professional I have ever dealt with. This is the person who is responsible for the negativity of the Honest Veterinarians out there. He raped me on the bill more than 3 times what was discussed in detail with Sergie on appointment scheduling. I needed to know the rates before the procedures were done. He went ahead without discussing fees and then hands my son a bill for $388.00. More than I could afford . I am on a fixed income and knew what I could spend. When I called the office and politely questioned the bill Dr Lachhar hung up on me. I called back and again he hung up. Called and spoke with receptionist and she was extremely rude. I called back the next day to speak to the office manager and was going to tell her about the rudeness of the receptionist but decided it would not do any good since the officer manager was ruder than the receptionist! Not a fan at all! One of the secretary's is rude and got a huge attitude. She tried over charging me not once, but twice!! The vet is nice but when asked about how to deal with my dog's hip problems, right away he talked about expensive surgeries. Also for neutering they charge between $350-450. No thanks. Read Less

I can agree that in the past the front desk was hit or miss. Now it seems the front desk is great. They are a younger bunch and seem very happy to help and listen. I love the doctor, he is kind, gentle and very knowledgeable. I drive 20 minutes to use this vet other than the local vet that is very expensive and not that cordial. Read Less

I only joined citysearch so I could write a favorable review because the previous one did not reflect our experience at all...we had to take one of our cats to see why it was throwing up repeatedly. The diagnosis and treatment worked immediately and the problem was not a hairball as we had thought but an allergy. The doctor called the next day to see how she was and to give us the results of her tests, followed by a welcome card in a few days. The next week our older cat became very ill suddenly and had to be put down... the doctor and staff were compassionate and could not have been more caring, making it easier for us to deal with our loss. A sympathy card with the Rainbow Bridge printed on it followed in a couple of days, signed by every staff member with their own ""I'm sorry for your loss', etc. and we were really touched. This Animal Hospital is close to home, and clean. The ladies at the front can be nice or can be really rude some days. The owner got rid of our favorite vet that did surgery on our dog. Most of the vets we like, seem to leave the animal hospital. Not very compassionate. My daughter asked for an interview, and they said no and gave the most idiotic excuse. I probaly will be changing to another animal hospital the next time i need to bring my dog and cat for a checkup. Read Less
