I had an excellent relationship with East End Emergency for fifteen years when Dr. Vatash was there. Not only was I an extremely happy client, all things considered, but a consistent advocate and source of endorsement and referral within the East End community, where I have lived and worked for 35 years. There were many times, that Dr. Vatash asked me, and presumably others, for feedback to see if anything could be improved. He frequently came out and spoke with people in the waiting room. We had lengthy, calm, collaborative interface. And he LISTENED. And made changes because he was truly interested in having the best possible care available to our community. I respected him for that and everyone loved him. And yet, even though I was disappointed to see Dr. Vatash leave, I was more than courteous and welcoming to the new Director, who works for a company called, ironically, "compassion first."
In contrast to Dr. Vatash’s caring approach, her behavior – in fact her entire attitude - is defensive, didactic, inappropriate and unprofessional, not to mention insensitive and downright mean. It’s notable that since she took over, many of their veterinarians, admins, and support staff - the people that made that facility what it was – have left. I know for a fact that many of patients are not happy but have no choice when it comes to 24/7 emergency vet care.
As to the quality of care? How does this sound...
I brought my cat in and told the vet, who I couldn't actually see because of COVID restrictions, that he had a limp that was getting progressively worse. I asked him to call me while examining my cat but he didn't. After waiting in the car for 40 minutes, he came up with the brilliant diagnosis of "Your cat has a limp." Then I asked if he had taken an x-ray. Nope. Seriously? A cat that went from playing with toys to barely being able to walk within two weeks with a serious limp wasn't x-rayed? When I asked why not, there was no answer.
And then I got a call from this new "Director" screaming at me that I had been "nasty" to her "staff" and threatened that she wasn't going to let me be a patient anymore.
Then my regular vet ordered an ultrasound there, and she refused to do it. My vet was aghast.
Then they refused, and continue to refuse, to give me my medical records. That is against the law. They hang up the phone on me, and blocked my number.
This place used to be great. Now, it's a disgrace. Read Less
