They have taken care of my last kitty, Nelly, and now my new kitty, Lilia. They were always honest and helpful. They TRULY care. When my kitty nelly was dying, a vet who was helping me, who I had never met, was welling up with tears with me and she had just met Nelly. My actual vet, Dr. Ashton is a saint. She is brilliant, so so kind, empathetic, and deserves a raise. She was always so concerned about nelly, called asking about her, and when she died, she sent a long letter with the kindest memories of nelly and the sweetest words. They all love animals so much. I had to bring my puppers to their urgent care today and I couldn’t be more pleased! They were amazing, answered all my questions and all the ladies that were working were so compassionate and just super nice! Yes, it was a little pricey but I understood do to it being an urgent matter and what needed to be done and was happy to pay the cost. I have been a client of Dr Whilen for over 16 years and of this office for over 18 years. I run a business where i deal with other vet offices and not one can compare to this hospital! They are always very very accommodating,friendly and know their stuff! I recommend them to everyone and one time there(They even took a clients dog in that was not a patient when their vet office was making them wait until the next day bc they were booked out.. that client is now a client of theirs!) I will tell my full story, but the summary of it all is this: 1) They FORGOT to do my cat's blood work before tranquilizing her, and tried to LIE to me about her not needing it.2) They tried to charge me for a $54 full exam only 2 months after I already brought my cat in for a $54 exam because they neglected to inform me the first time that she needed a rabies shot. They tried to tell me it was because they didn't have her paperwork on file, but this was a complete lie and I called them out on it. If I wasn't prepared to back up my story with proof, they could have screwed me over. 3) They ACCIDENTALLY gave my cat an extra vaccine I didn't ask for, which is just so incredibly irresponsible. What if she had an allergy? Wtf? How do you run a hospital and accidentally give animals shots they don't need?I don't feel comfortable with this animal hospital after they've proven to be disorganized and careless with my cat on multiple occasions. I REALLY don't like writing bad reviews. I write this review not to spite the hospital, but to strongly warn others who care about the safety of their animals. I would stay away from this place.FULL STORY if you're so inclined:1)The first time I brought my cat to this animal hospital was in August. She was schedule to have a fill comprehensive annual exam and medical grooming (lion cut). I was told on the phone that she would need to be tranquilized for the medical grooming, and I consented to that. I was told that since she is an older cat (7 years) she would NEED blood work done BEFORE being tranquilized. They made this sound important. Blood work costs approximately $67 dollars, but I of course consented to this for the health and safety of my cat. I brought her in, and before being taken in, I filled out paperwork for her examination and SIGNED the paperwork for her blood work. They took all of her files and photocopied them for their records. When I came to pick her up, there was no blood work on the bill. When I asked about it, the desk person sort of stuttered... it was at that moment that she realized my cat was old enough that she would need blood work before being tranquilized. But she tried to cover it up "Oh, um. Well I guess she didn't need it after all." I replied that I was concerned because I was told it was necessary. I asked to speak to a doctor. She brought a doctor who told me "It was only tranquilization, so she didn't need it." Not helpful, but I was more trusting of a doctor at the time, I guess. (I learned later that this doctor wasn't even the one who saw my cat! The one who came to tell me this was a man. The doctor who examined my cat was a woman. Wtf?)2)I tried to call 2 months later (October) to get her another grooming appointment (her nails and fur needed to be trimmed). I was told that she needed a rabies shot. I was fine with that. Buuuut she needed a full exam in order to get the rabies shot. Excuse me? She JUST had a $54 full annual exam 2 months ago. I expressed that if that was the case, they should have told me 2 months ago when they would have already known she was overdue and I was already paying for an exam. They said "We didn't have her full records; that's why we didn't know last time." I told them I gave them all of her files BEFORE she went in for her exam, and they essentially said "Oh, umm..." I called back with her files in my hands and went through each record they had. I said, "You have everything that I have. I really don't want to pay for a full exam every single time I bring my cat in for a minor appointment."  They agreed after 4-5 phone calls to give me the exam free of charge. Simultaneously, they were telling me my cat needed blood work done. I explained the situation from last time and once again I got the stammering response "Oh... um... well that's weird... they should have. She really should have blood work done if she's going to be put under." Are you serious? It's for my cat's safety, and they simply FORGOT last time? And tried to LIE about it? I expressed my discomfort and concern and eventually got 50% off of the $69.70 tranquilization. I was still annoyed, but at least I wasn't paying full price for the exam and only 50% of the tranquilizer. 3)Today I brought my cat in for her exam, rabies vaccination, and grooming. I was extra extra careful when handing over my cat. I asked SEVERAL TIMES to be clear what she was getting. An exam, a rabies shot, and grooming. I repeated that multiple times. When I left I was still uneasy, but I decided to give them a chance. I got a phone call an hour later that she seems very healthy, her blood work looks great, she got her rabies, and she's groomed. Excellent. "Oh yeah, and we accidentally gave her the FCRCP shot also.... so.... You aren't getting charged for that...." Ex...excuse me? You ACCIDENTALLY gave my cat an injection? You ACCIDENTALLY vaccinated my cat with a vaccine I didn't ask for? Wtf Read Less

Call there later in the week made an appointment, upon showing up for the appointment they said I didn't have one. Then they wanted me to wait there a few hours to see somebody. I even showed them my call log but I was on the phone for 5 minutes with them setting up the appointment and then I asked for the office manager and obviously she wasn't there. Thank you to all the people and Dr.Delahanty who Immediately took such wonderful loving care of my sweet Abby after she was hit by a truck last night. A special thank you to the lady whose perfume I can still smell on her head and neck, comforts me to know that you loved on her when I couldn't. Last week was no exception when our one year old went in to be fixed , his surgery was early in the morning and by the evening he was starting to be his normal full of energy playful self. After going to other vets with long wait times and Vets that rushed through exams, I am very happy to have a found a place where everyone genuinely cares about my pets, emotionally and physically. Appointments are easy to make and wait times are short if there are any at all. During exams my pets are fully examined from head to tail. On Monday October 31, 2016 my dog became very ill, immediately with bloody stool and throwing up I thought parvo....we get into the vet Mary feels around and says it feels Like something could be stuck in his stomache, 300$ in and still no answers and she has me Thinking it's an obstruction, I ask To speak with the actual dr. She is new, he won't even come talk to me so I walk out !!!! 900$ later he does have parvo and Pittsford animal hospital was going to send me home with meds where he would of died!!! My first visit to this Clinic was for an emergency after my 3 yr old male cat had pretty much de-clawed himself (nearly tore out one of his back claws after spooking and getting caught). After calling 3 other clinics near to me and being turned away (they were 'booked' for days), I was directed to the Pittsford clinic and they had me come right in. In less than half an hour they had not only treated his wound but they also updated all of his shots (the timing worked out nicely...as a silver lining). I was very pleased with how concerned they were over the injury and how thorough they were in explaining the after-treatment care. Everyone from the front office staff, the vet techs, and the veterinarians, are caring and knowledgeable about helping you and your pet. My dog, Tito, sees Dr. Sarah Funk and she is especially thorough, knowledgable, and helpful in our visits. When Tito has had concerning symptoms, I have come in quickly to the office and seen other veterinarians, who have also been similarly helpful. After a dental cleaning, a color copy form was given to me with information and showed the before and after photos of different views of my dog's teeth. The person that went over Tito's dental information with me was thorough and answered all of my questions. Fifteen years ago I inherited my aunt's Siamese cat, who was 5 at the time.  Since she had always taken her to Animal Hospital of Pittsford, I continued to do the same.  Over the years I have dealt with 3 or four of the vets there and they are all amazing, as is the staff.  About 13 years ago I found a little lump on my cat, which they biopsied and found to be skin cancer.  They removed it surgically.  When the vet called me later and told me that he was confident he had gotten it all.  He said I could take her to Cornell for radiation if I wanted, but , after I asked what he would do in my position, did not feel it was necessary.  And he was right.  She continued in good health for the next 13 years.  Sadly, last week, at the age of 21, I realized she was not eating or pooping.  I took her in hoping it was just intestinal blockage and she would need an enema (this had happened two years ago).  Rather than put my cat through a lot of uncomfortable procedures, the vet immediately did an ultrasound  because she was exhibiting bloating and discomfort in her upper abdomen.  The results were a tumor on her spleen.  Given her age and poor prognosis, my husband and I made the heartbreaking decision to put her down.  I cannot say enough about the way all the staff there treated us.  Some of them looked as if they were going to cry too.  They even had us come back for the euthanasia through the back door, so that we would not have to go through a lobby full of generally healthy pets.  While nothing can ever prepare you for the inevitable experience of being a  pet parent, i am so grateful for everything they did for me, and my kitty, for her 21 years and especially at the end.  I will return again when my grieving lets up enough for me to get another kitty. The staff is always kind and friendly! The techs are very knowledgeable and the vets are some of the best in the field. Dr. Delahanty is GREAT with animals and with my dog Wolfie! My dog was diagnosed with a serious illness called ITP last year, and the care he has had from Dr. Delahanty and this hospital has been the best I've ever experienced!! What I really like is everyone there is genuinely very concerned with your pets well-being. They explain all your options and give you their recommendations...BUT if you decided not to do something, they don't make you feel like you have to. They respect your opinion and feelings for "your" pets! My Vet also works with Cornell Hospital as a team for my pets serious condition to ensure we are all on the same page regarding his health! They also have an online pet portal available. You can request appointments online, get updates, look at information, and send your Vet emails!! My Vet ALWAYS responds quickly and is right on top of my pets care!! If you live on the west side as I do, (or even on the east side) the drive is worth the care you get here. Brought my cat in after he got into a fight and had an abscess. They took him in right away for a double surgery (he got neutered as well) and I believe they saved his life. He had a 107 fever and just a week later hes back to his happy little self. They even called to check up on him a couple weeks later. Very friendly and helpful staff. I took my cat here to determine why my cat might be urinating in places outside her box and here is what happened to me. The entire time all the vet was trying to do was push procedures and products on me. First, the vet recommend the I have my cat's blood screened and urine screened to determine the cause. I agreed, but when the vet could not get any urine out of my cat, she decided to recommend giving my cat antibiotics without a diagnosis of a bladder infection. I decided not to just give my cat antibiotics without a diagnosis, so I just said I would come back another day. Three days later I came back to have my cat's urine tested and this is when this place really tired to pull a fast one on me. I paid 44 dollars to have my cats urine tested, then that night, at 8:30pm, I received a phone call from an unknown number. I don't typically expect businesses to call at such late hours, nor do I expect them to call from blocked numbers, but this vet did. I let this go to voicemail, and then they got me. The vet called and told me she would like to send my cat's urine into another lab for additional screening for another $80 and that she would be out of the office the following day and wouldn't be back until the day after. I had interned to call the vet back on the day after, when she indicated she would be back, to discuss my cat's recent behavior ( she stopped urinating outside the box)  and what this test could show me that the one I paid $44 dollars for could not, but then I check my mail and low and behold I found a bill for $80 for the additional screening of my cat's urine. Out of the office, eh? Convenient. At this point, I called the vet's office, who strangely was unavailable to speak to myself, but could speak through the receptionist, and told her I never verbally agreed to the extra screening of my cat's urine. This receptionist, who put me on hold several times (most likely to speak with the vet who would not speak to me herself) tried to tell me "This is the next step for your cat and the vet did leave a message about sending the results in for further screening." I then told her "I never agreed to this extra screening and I would think you would need my permission to charge me for extra procedures." Apparently not. The receptionist also was not willing to listen to me and kept trying to cut me off as I tried to explain to her that I NEVER agreed to the extra $80 screening of my cat's urine that I got billed for.While these people may claim that they are acting with the best interest of my pet in mind, I also know that they are a business first and their first and foremost goal is to make money. I also found it strange that as the vet was recommending the first initial procedures (blood screening and urinalysis) that she did not have any idea what these procedures cost. Every time I asked while in the office, I kept getting estimations and answers like "Well off the top of my head, I really don't know." I felt like saying "I know I'm not the first to ask and I'm pretty sure you should know, but nice way to ease me into a $200 bill while telling me my cat could be anything from diabetic to having a urine infection. Nice."  I love my pets, but I hate sleazy businesses more, and I'm sure I can find a vet that will be upfront with me about procedures and costs. I care, but I will not be scared, or lured into procedures and products. Funny part of this all is I might have considered the extra screening had I not woken up to a bill I didn't agree to. I brought my sick kitty here and she received a very thorough examination. The vet was clearly busy, but still took ample time to explain to me his line of thought and answered many questions. It was not good news for us, but I felt relieved to at least have a diagnosis and a time frame for what to expect, after a very unsatisfying trip to the emergency service earlier that week. The support staff were really nice too, the receptionist actually called me back when they got a cancellation so that I could get my cat in sooner. And the vet's assistant also paid a lot of attention to the cat and took her back to be examined right away when he noticed some alarm signs. I was pleasantly surprised with the bill, too, the cost of visit plus medication was only about $60, and the meds are actually working great to ease my cat's symptoms. So I had a great experience here, I wish my kitty wasn't sick, but if it is her time to go, this is the place I know I can count on for the support I will need. Read Less

I brought my pet to the animal hospital of pittsford.  The feeling that they had given me were that they were quick to jump to the conclusion.  In fact my trip there I have a feeling that I was exploited.  My pet went under surgery from an inconclusive x ray.  The doctor pretty much hinted that death was highly probably if surgery was not made.  The outcome of the surgery proved that the doctor's initial diagnostic was wrong.  Not only that I lost my pet during the course of the surgery.  Basically I lost the life of my pet from a fail surgery that wasn't needed.   When I went to see my pet one last time the doctor kept on saying he/she was sorry, he/she kept on saying that even when he/she laid the bill ON TOP of my pet's body. I tried to move the bill away and the vet simply moved it back on top of my pet.  I don't think this vet was really sorry for my lost at all.  I did some research and asked around and found that there were others that had the same feeling.  I will NEVER take any of my pets there in the future and strongly advise against going to this hospital.
