I adopted a dog that has anxiety issues and is on medication. I made an appointment for him to have a basic check up and get his meds refilled. They said they had to do blood work and could not give me the prescription until the blood work came back. Ok. I get that. I told them his meds were running out soon though so they promised me they would give me enough to hold him over. I also needed flea medicine and heart worm medicine. They could only give me 1 month of flea medicine and had no heart worm medicine. I'm new with dogs but they didn't even recommend something I could get at a pet store to take its place. After two days I had to call them back because my dog still had no prescription. They had no idea what I was talking about and I had to answer so many questions before they knew who I or my dog was. I got the prescriptions but I will not go back. Oh yeah, the vet never came in the room, they took my dog out of the room to do the blood work? Is that normal? Do NOT bring your pet here. Brought my dog here because she had broken toe nails. They said they repaired the injured nails and clipped the others as requested. I took her to the groomer as soon as the bandage was removed and told them to avoid the toes this time. Two weeks later she's got more broken nails that look like they never got clipped to begin with. I had her examined again for $35.00 and made another appointment to have the same procedure done again but also wanted them to trim a little around the toes as her hair is now getting long and again I would need to request the groomer avoid that area. My son arrived to drop her off and was approached by the vet saying he didn't have time to clip the hair around her paws. Mind you I was told when making the appointment they close at 12:00 on Thursdays must be lunch was more important then taking proper care of my dogs needs. It's easy to tell when someone is a vet for the money, or a vet for the love of animals. Dr. K is one of the latter, in my opinion. He's quirky, and kind, and talks to the animals as he's examining them (apologizing if it's something uncomfortable, and praising them for being so good), and he shares anecdotes about his own pets. His staff is very competent, and the techs understand when an animal is just not in the mood for a nail-clipping; they won't traumatize them (or their owners) by trying to force the issue. These folks just moved into a new office a week ago, so I can't really speak for their facilities (blank walls, rooms with just a single chair and a pet table). I'm not sure how high their appeal is but from some of the other reviews they seemed like an okay place to go. The service by Dr. K was good. You can tell he really loves animals and he treated mine like his own (I was there to get my dog a rabies vaccine).
The only thing to really mention that was out of the ordinary was the request for my driver's license number and SSN on the sheet they had me fill out. I thought this was terribly odd for a Vet to ask for and questioned the receptionist about it. All she could say was "It's for billing purposes and you have to give us one or the other or we can't see your dog." I questioned this again and the other receptionist said if I'm paying with cash I don't have to give either. Then, out of nowhere, Dr. K comes out and explains that it's all protected under HIPPA and I need to give him one or the other.
There was no real explanation of WHY I needed to give this information, but I decided to give my license number as that's less personal and probably less potentially damaging. It's still not clear why this was needed. Read Less

I don't know what universe this place is operating under, but they are NOT cat/kitty compassionate AT ALL!!! I just hung up the phone with the receptionist, deciding to make an appointment some place else. Reason being- they accept a free examination voucher from the shelter I adopted my cat LOKI from- BUT- I will be charged for the visit if my animal is sick! And I believe my pet has an upper resp. infection. So, even if (as this sweet woman explained- as sweet as an abscessed tooth) I had just made the appointment without expressing my concerns, and THEY discovered he was ill...I would be charged! Completely asinine!
I even pleaded that I was low on funds at the moment and knew I would have to pay for medications, and that my kitty couldn't wait until Friday (my payday). Didn't matter. SHE DIDN'T CARE!
