We were recommended to Dr. Foley by our former vet who was moving. He and Dr. V. have been wonderful to our pets. While the place isn't as shiny new as the place we had been, they don't charge as much as other vets for needed procedures and don't stick you with tests and procedures that aren't needed just to reach "corporate quotas"  like some of the other vets in the community. Sadly our 19 year old cat had to cross the rainbow bridge, but the staff and Dr. V were very compassionate and respectful to our little sweetheart. Our dog has always had a lot of allergy and skin problems and both Dr. V and Dr. Foley have worked hard to help us find solutions to keep him from pulling his fur out, creating hot spots and damaging his skin.  Sometimes the front office staff is a little rattled and hurried, but I think its really because they care about the animals coming in and out and want to make sure they are given proper care. Additionally, sometimes those they care for need to euthanized and I'm sure this can be difficult for them to go through - not all of the people they encounter are as accommodating or understanding of what they are going through. I'd give a 5 if they had a better area for boarding and it was updated, but I'd rather functional and price conscious than overpriced and pushy. I adopted a cat recently and took her here and I'm so happy I chose this place. I had an appointment late in the day and I was worried I was going to be shuffled out because I was one of the last patients. Instead I had a great appointment with Dr. Foley! He spent a good 15-20 mins examining my new cat and explaining all the ins and out of owning a cat (she's my first cat). Let me start by saying Phil seemed happy when I picked him up from his second time boarding here. The problem was with the communication that a vaccination for leptospitosis became a requirement without any specific posting on their website (only a general vaccination requirement) or stating this when I made his reservation. It was not required the previous time he stayed there. Without any realistic option given that I was leaving on Christmas vacation, I had to pay the $24 vaccination fee along with a $45 vet examination fee. When I asked about the exam results, already knowing what they would say since he had an exam a few months before at his normal vet, the employee could only show me some scribbles that he is overweight. After, I asked other kennels in the area and none of them require this vaccination. Read Less

This is by far the best, no, GREATEST, animal hospital ever. I have had many cats and dogs over the years and have brought them all to Dr. Foley, Dr. V and Dr. Miner, all of whom are phenomenal vetrinarians. I recommend to anyone I meet as often as I can. The girls at the desk are like family to me and Dawn is a spectacular vet assistant. I recently had to put my kitty down as he had kidney cancer. Through all the sadness, this wonderful team got my husband and I through it gently and with the utmost compassion. We couldn't have done it without them...Today we received a sympathy card signed by all!! This is the kind of care you can expect from this gifted team. The first time I went in the staff at the counter was so rude to me I left. I could not believe it. I called my friend that recommend the place to double check if I had the right place! I ended up calling days later and making an appointment. The vet was fantastic! I took a look at the boarding facility and I would say it looks sketchy at best with the chain link fencing and concrete floor. It does not look homey and warm at all. I can see a great big dog loving that concrete floor in the middle of summer but not my five pound chihuahua. The vet is good but boarding is less than ideal for the little folk. Read Less

customer service is terrible, didn't give me the time of day on the phone,  I've heard nothing but great things about their doctors but maybe you should hire better help to actually obtain new patients.  I have a sick dog and the women on the phone couldn't help me just kept putting me on hold.  One thing to keep a person waiting but now my sick dog has to wait so NO THANKS. All three veterinarians are knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating.  I never feel that we are getting ripped off by undergoing unnecessary procedures.  They are not pushy and will only do what is necessary.  I have been very pleased with this facility and would highly recommend it. Least Compassionate Veterinarian Office I've ever had the Misfortuneof walking through their doors! To begin, Their own website has a gerbil on the home page along with other little animals, aside from Cats & dogs. Awhile ago, maybe two yrs, I had woke up to my gerbil trembling & aboutto die. Not being able to help or have the stomach to watch him suffer to death,I had brought him into Brighton Animal Hospital. When I had asked the staffabout having him humanly put to rest I was given a lip bitten grin. Along withlooking at me as a joke, I was told  the doctor wouldn't bother with a mouse! I understand most would think its silly to care about a tiny little critter suffering,but a veterinarian! I'm thankful my daughter was away at camp on the dayof their minimized treatment. I have been going to Brighton Animal Hospital for 20+ years. The doctors and staff are so friendly and take wonderful care of my fur-babies! I couldn't ask for a better vet and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new vet! They have extremely reasonable prices and never overcharge! Doc Foley saved my 3 month old puppies leg when she broke it so bad they thought it might have to be amputated. He performed a miracle and she didn't even need pins! 3 years later and she is as good as new, barely even a scar! My dogs feel so comfortable with him and even let him trim their nails when they give me a hard time when I try! Dr. Miner and Dr. Vamvakias are wonderful as well. This is the spot where I bring our dog and cats now. Never had an issue getting an appointment. The Doctor's are knowledgeable and friendly. They even take extra time to explain things to my kids when they are with me. We have used the Kennel before and no complaints there. But, I may look into other places as they don't seem to interact too much with the kenneled animals. Read Less

I really like everything about this veterinary office so far.  These are the things I love, in list format:- They're punctual; no waiting for-ev-er for your appointment. Sometimes they're even ready for you immediately after you walk in. - Accommodating; I've called them with semi-emergencies before and they make room for me that day or the next- They're friendly; I never feel like I'm an inconvenience.- They're thorough; my dog lost one eye to glaucoma, so they pay extra attention to the remaining one. Checking it routinely for signs/pressure without me asking them to.- It's a clean, inviting, relaxing environment; HOORAY! This place doesn't "smell" like a vet's office, so I don't have to carry my 85 lb dog in (like I do everywhere else). It's a nice sized waiting room with lots of natural light and seating. I think the costs here are just about on par with everywhere else in Rochester, and the care is above average. It's a great spot, tucked away by Linden Ave. Read Less

Dr. Foley is so great with our dog.  My dog is a wimp and hates shots, nail clippings, etc. and Dr. Foley is very patient with him. Also, I ask a lot of questions and he is very patient with me. I'm very comfortable with the advice he gives. I get the impression that Dr. Foley really loves animals, I haven't always had that experience with other vets. It makes me a little bit more comfortable bringing my fur-child to see him.We have used the kennel once. I have no complaints, however it is not my first choice because the dogs are only walked in the yard and there is no large space for them to run. I do find it comforting though that the kennel is right at the hospital in case my dog needs some medical attention.Another perk is that they have late hours on Monday and Wednesday and then some limited hours on Saturday. The receptionists have the absolute worst attitudes ever. Whenever we check in they give us these dirty looks like were interrupting their day, and then again on the way out the billing process is painful for them. When we asked about purchasing special food for our cat they were very curt and acted strangely about such a simple transaction. They are very whinny and short on the phone as well. These ladies need an adjustment.They've scare people away that I send to them!However the actual veterinarians are always excellent and thorough. My wife and work with Dr. Michael Foley who is always very professional and remembers us from previous visits which makes the trip worth it. I work with a dog rescue and in doing so have visited most area vets. I must say that the personal service and compassion that Dr. Foley showed to one of our rescue dogs has surpassed every other vet I have seen. I was so impressed, that I am now switching my own dog to Brighton animal hospital. You do not find caring service like that anywhere now a days! He does not push unnecessary medications, preventatives or procedures, like so many other vets do. Making an appointment was quick and painless and we were escorted into an exam room before we could walk away from the counter. And, of course, the sick dog we brought in made a drastic recovery after his treatment. I am very very very impressed and would recommend BAH to anyone! Read Less

We've had 2 dogs over the past 14 years being treated at BAH. We have had nothing but great care for our animals and kindness toward us. When one of our dogs had to be put down 2 years ago, we felt very supported by the staff. I know many other people that take pets there and they all rave about it. The rates for many procedures are much lower than at the larger hospitals in the area. In fact, my brother brought his dog all the way from Baltimore for surgery that would have been more than 2x the cost at their vet. Read Less

We have a greyhound and a chow-shepherd and we go to Brighton Animal Hospital because they were recommended for greyhound care. They are the best, and we have often boarded both dogs for several days without incident, no flees! They have prompt service, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and care that goes the extra mile. My pets have been patients at BAH for well over 5 years. Granted, I don't have a cat and have never taken one there, but over the years 4 of my dogs have had check-ups, shots and surgeries here; they have all come home fine and have never come home with fleas. At my request, Dr. Foley came to my house to euthanize my dear old dog, that's how caring this facility is. I have never had a bad experience here, everyone is wonderful to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate to ever recommend this hospital for any pet. The last review sounds like an isolated incident that may have not gone too well over communication problems. Read Less

I took my cat to Brighton for a de-clawing. He had to spend the night there. Keep in mind he is an indoor cat...never has been outdoors. We brought him home, and after a few days we noticed that our dog was scratching alot. I took him to Brighton and was told he possibly had allergies. I bought a spray to help it. Well a month passed, and I noticed worms in my cats stool. I researched how he may have gotten worms, and it is caused by ingesting fleas. It all made sense. I am 100% certain that he got the fleas at Brighton during his overnight stay. Of course they deny it and blame it on my dog...who only goes outside to go to the bathroom. DO NOT RISK TAKING YOUR ANIMAL THERE. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MESS THAT I AM DEALING WITH NOW! Read Less
