We had a terrible experience here. We brought in our cat to be euthanized. This is never an easy choice, or experience. Our old vet had retired, and Laurelton was recommended by a friend. The vet was condescending, and cold. He lectured us on how we should not have waited as long as we did to make the choice. While our dear cat was laying on the table, dying, the tech came in the room and reached over the dying animal to make me sign the credit card slip. What should have been a somber passing of a beloved family pet was transactional, cold and judgmental. We will never visit this shabby business again. Read Less

My dog lost 10lbs a week after being nuetered (over $600) at laurelton. Charged me for blood work to see if he was ok for the procedure(over $100+) never heard of this. Charged me additional a $50 for being 7 days over a year old. (REALLY). My dog stopped eating and broke out in welts all over his body a week after. My wife brought him in and saw Boehm (won't give him the credit of being call a Dr.) He didn't know what was going on with my dog but he was going down hill fast. Treated him with a bland diet and appetite stimulator after blood work came back normal.($250+) All organs levels were in normal range The next day I thought my dog was done for. So we brought him back again . They still had no clue after running more test.($200+) So this were I suggest all to stay clear. I question Boehm on the test that were being run and at this point I was very frustrated. So yes I was becoming irritated and frustrated and yes my voice came across that way. His reply to me is "Come get your dog and file. We no longer want your dog here" . I was shocked. Talking about abandonment. He said my wife didn't listen to his suggestions (lie ) He's the expert and that's why I'm paying you. You figure it out. I can go on and on about this but I'll cut to chase. Horrible vet. They are rude overwhelmed with animals and have no time to take care of yours. They do have time to run useless test on your animal and over charge you though. Read Less

In general, I don't trust doctors or veterinarians. After what happened to my dog just confirms my belief that most of the vets I have dealt with over the years are heartless, greedy ass holes. In my case I wish I would have pressed "Dr" ken boehm at laurelton animal hospital as to why my dog did not need to take his insullin for his diabetes anymore. 3 days later he was dying because this greedy ass hole fucked up. To make matters worse, he rushed us over there to say goodbye because he only worked till 5. Then on top of that, hands me a bill for close to $1000. I filed a complaint with the NYS Board of Professional Licensing to find out he already had an ongoing investigation for a complaint filed on him earlier that year. I wouldn't recommend laurelton animal hospital to my worst enemy. I can guarantee from the people I've talked to over the years and the reviews I've read about this place that others have had similar experiences. A family member recommended penfield veterinary hospital to me. My entire family and I have now been taking our dogs, 14 altogether, to penfield and have not had a single issue. I would recommend penfield to anyone. They are friendly and their doctors have knowledge on how to practice veterinary medicine. Read Less

Wonderful, caring, and expert care for our pets. A few years ago, we had to make the incredibly difficult decision to put our first dog to sleep. Dr. Boehm was very supportive throughout the process and helped us cope with a decision that had to be made. He has always answered our questions in a thorough and easy-to-understand manner, and we are thankful that he has been there to help us in stressful times with our pets. I just brought my new puppy there and saw Dr. Ken. Not impressed he was not friendly, he took all of 7 minutes with us. I received a disapproving attitude because I was on a budget and wasn't going to be upselled on everything. We have to go back in a month for a booster but with a tech. After that we will be finding a friendlier, more welcoming veterinarian. Would not recommend. Read Less

The Nurses are wonderful! The Vet however, was one of the rudest people i've ever met. Made me feel incompetent like i didn't know how to care for my kitten and then didn't even give me the right medicine to treat her! when she wasn't getting better i called them to say she wasn't improving and they spoke to the vet who said he forgot to give me a med that they said they were going to. The vet only wants money. He didn't seem interested in the well being of my kitten at all and for that reason i would NEVER trust him with one of my animals again. Read Less

This is a small practice which is a good thing. Many vets are like medical clinics where you have to line up to check in, wait in the waitng room, wait to check out. At Laurelton you are in and out FAST. The level of caring for my cats has always been super. What separates Laurelton from many vets is that they are in business for the love of animals - not to milk money from you. I have two experiences where they discouraged spending huge amounts of money to prolong a dying animal's life by a couple of months. Excellent. They have a very nice group of doctors and nurses. They saw both of my cats in a timely fashion and the trip was not very expensive!
