There is a new veterinarian, Dr. Ami Maloco, and I will not take a pet to her again. She seemed knowledgeable enough, but showed absolutely no compassion for my dog and was not kind toward me. I got upset over what she was telling me and began to cry. She looked at me like I had five heads, shrugged her shoulders and muttered "sorry." When I asked her about what the previous vet at this location had told me on our last visit, just a few months prior, rather than offering an explanation of some possibilities and attempting to talk with me about my questions, she just said with an attitude, "well I can't speak to that." I could go on. She was short in her responses and completely uncaring. I left in tears and in disbelief over how the visit went. If she had at least shown some warmth toward my dog and the situation, along with being knowledgeable, then I could disregard her interaction with me, but that wasn't the case. Find another veterinarian who is understanding and shows compassion. It makes a world of difference when you and your fur baby are going through something. I will add that the rest of the new staff was very friendly and seemingly efficient, so it is too bad. I already found another vet who made me feel so much more comfortable about trusting him with my girl. Read Less

Not sure what to think about this business any more. Dr. Zimber was a great vet,too bad he sold to this new group. We had been taking our dogs to him for the last 17 years, he really cared for them not his wallet. After reading reviews of Dansville Animal Hospital, which the new owners also own and the responses from the vets husband/ business manager,it seems all they care about is the business and their protocols,not the pets or the feelings of their owners. Not my preferred location anymore, going to the one on Ridge Road East instead. The idiot on the phone scheduled my dog for a booster shot too early and I had to reschedule another day after I showed up for the appointment and checked in.  Then they gave me an appointment for 5:30 p.m, closes at 6 p.m.  Got caught in traffic on 590, got there at 5:45, doors locked, WTF. Been going there for the past years but seems they have hired incompetents. Not trusting my four-legged furry buddy to them anymore. Read Less

DR. ZIMBER IS THE BEST VET I'VE EVER HAD. he is vet that cares about animals and not the mighty dollar. Very very reasonable prices. My cat was sick, he was 14 at the time, meds weren't working. Was going to put him down. Dr. ZIMBER said(on a Thurs) he's an older cat he may need a few days more. Let's give til Monday, if he doesn't turn around, we'll make arrangements. BY Saturday , he was bouncing around playing with his 3yr old kitten, Maggie. He lived to be 18!!!!! I got to enjoy him for FOUR more years b/c of Dr. Zimber. Words can't describe the gift he gave. Dr. Zimber is great with day to day issues, like shots. If there is a serious problem though, I'd take my pets to a specialist. His prices are very reasonable and, even though he's downtown, he's got off street parking. Read Less

I have had my Lola for 12 years and she has always gone to Dr. z. Lola never needed any real medical attention ( aside from getting mange in the forest ew). She has been a healthy and happy doggo for as long as I have had her but, I knew I was in the right place when I took her for her shots and Dr. Z came rushing out of a room with a dog and its parents. They had brought the dog in and Dr. Z determined it was an emergency. In the lobby they went to pay for the visit and he refused to accept it saying the ER would charge them a lot of money and he couldn't help her. He insisted they just had to go and take the dog their immediately. That always stuck with me. Since then he has treated Lola for bladder infections, teeth cleanings and her regular shots. I will say he is blunt and does not sugar coat anything. He always talks to me about kidney failure in older dogs and the signs and symptoms but, I see it as his way of preparing his patients for the inevitable. He will provide his opinion, tell you your options and do whatever you choose or what he can. I can't imagine bringing Lola anywhere else. Read Less

I have had 2 very bad experiences here.  I can't help but wonder if both my cats would be alive today if only I had gone to someone else.  Every time I've brought a cat here that he thinks is older he gives the same speech:  "if this cat was in the wild he wouldn't be alive today".  Or his other favorite:  "well you know with older cats it's either the kidneys or the thyroid that goes".  And inevitably the blood work shows kidney failure but another vet tested my second cat (was too sick at this point to be saved) and there was no sign of kidney failure.  Stay away from this guy!  He's too ready to put an "older" cat down......although I don't think 9 really qualifies as older.  He's fine with shots and kittens but that's it!  I don't trust this man.... I can tell you any vet that has you sign a release form when they operate on your dog and screw up and dont do anything to help them and you have another vet look after them and it cost you 7 grand to try to save your dogs life and its to late. They should be not be your first choice because they are cheap.  Think about your choices. Read Less

Dr Zimber and his staff are wonderful! Dr. Zimber is listens and is attentive to your pet's needs. I had to make the difficult decision to put down my cat (19 years old) in January and he explained all the options and was very caring and compassionate, helping me to make the best decision for her. Dr Zimer is the most feel headed compassionate vet around. He is always willing to talk in person or on the phone to give you advice. If one of his long time staff members was better I would have given this practice a 5 star rating. But he is definitely 5-star! Read Less

We have several animals that we take to Dr Zimber everything from small rodents to the 3 dogs we have. First of all Dr Zimbers prices are far more reasonable then any vet office I have ever been to. With that being said he also offers top care, knows what he is doing and also compassionate and reasonable. He will take calls and answer questions and doesn't nickle and dime you for everything. Ive had a bitten hamster, dog with an infected eye and a dog with a broken leg. Costs were very reasonable and we cannot afford much. He has handled all of that and above. His practice is very appreciated and hands down the best. I recommend him to everyone. Read Less

My parents used to take our dog there when I was young... Well I have gone back after all these years and Dr Zimber is great. The other vet we were patients of for 10 years seemed so overpriced and impersonal. Dr Zimber explains everything and is very compassionate. We have 4 dogs and this place is wonderful!!!! Dr Zimber is a No Nonsense kinda guy that is extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy when it comes to providing care to your pets.  Im so happy I found him and our 4 animals are his patients.  The clinic is extremely busy, but your pets get thorough exams and he doesn't do all the frills and price gauging.  Cut and Dry..which us pet owners need from a vet because we can lose our sensibilities when it comes to our furry loved ones health and quality of life.  He will always give you his honest opinion..even if its not what you may want to hear.Highly recommended! I take my cat, Honeybucket, here because the prices are great and I trust Dr. Zimmer.  Apparently I'm not the only one who loves this place - they aren't accepting any new patients because they're having problems being booked solid. The only problem with them being so busy is that sometimes the disinfectant hasn't fully dried on the exam room table when they let you in.  Not a huge problem, but I always wipe it off before I let Honeybucket out.The exams are thorough (I take her in for a nail trim and he still does a quick once over!) and they're good about vaccines.  They also don't charge anything on top of the exam fee for a health certificate - important for flying with your pets!
