If you value your hard-earned money, and do not want to be taken advantage of, then I highly suggest you NEVER step foot in PENFIELD VETERINARY HOSPITAL!! I went there today to have three puppies examined, vaccinated, and dewormed. Penfield Veterinary Association is part of Monroe Veterinary Association and they are the only VET that does this. They have now started charging almost $20 per puppy to administer dewormer!! Thats on top of the price you pay for the dewormer!! For three little puppies today..the dewormer was $9.54 and they charged me $56.40 for them to administer it to them!! Serioysly.. Put a little syringe and their mouth and push a plunger!! Are you freaking serious!! No other vet does this!! I have been to this vet office many times before with pups and was not charged this ridiculous fee! I am beyond livid and these vets are shady because they did not notify anyone of this! They are just about the money! This disgust me! I should have stayed away when two of their popular vets left about 2 years ago. Shame on you! Read Less

I have been going here for years. Absolutely loved it. In and out, helpful vets and staff, ahhhh was so happy. Now over the past year or so, there has been changing going on. It's still a very reliable vet to take your pet to, but when you have had something great and been spoiled, you tend to not agree with the changes. It's not like you have to go, if you and your friend are lucky, but once a year so as long as my dog is good it will be ok. If you walked in for your first time today, you will love the place, it's clean, fairly comfortable and has never been a long wait. If there is some feistiness in the waiting room, they usually have a room available that they will offer. The vets are great. So absolutely go. I have been to other vets with friends and walk out disgusted, this is not one of those places! Just remember to get your weight on the way in, or back out you go. Read Less

Dr. Ragone is the best! Our dog is a bit hyper and she is able to work with him and does so with a smile. Not something many others vets we have gone to are able to do. The staff there is always helpful in filling prescriptions over the phone. They always allow us to check out in the exam room and have even at times put us in a room that we can head right outside from so we don't have to deal with our dog getting too amped up by other animals. What a lovely place. Our animals have been seen by Dr Hawkins and Dr Mueller for over 10 years. Both are wonderful, caring, and answer all our questions. The vet techs are wonderful too. I still remember how kind and thoughtful the vet tech was when discharging my little cat from dental surgery. When our older cat had to be put down due to kidney failure, both doctors sent personalized sympathy cards - such a nice thing during our time of grieving. Recommend 10/10.Read Less

Penfield Veterinary Hospital is wonderful!  We take our Pepper there....16 yrs old & a few issues related to age, but Dr. Braaton & Dr. Mueller are absolutely wonderful!  I'm sure Dr. Herrema & Dr. Hawkins are, as well, but we have so far only seen Dr. Braaton & Dr. Mueller. Our little Pepper can be so frightened of certain surroundings & people, but she loves them. Pepper goes there for her baths & nail clippings, as well, & that staff is also awesome!  We are so very pleased with everything about Penfield Veterinary Hospital, & highly recommend them to all!  Thank you, PVH!! Have been going here for over 5 yrs when one of my two dogs had a case of diarrhea. I brought in a fecal sample as they requested and wanted to be sure my other dog wouldn't get sick so I asked the assis't a quick question. She went to the back to ask the vet who replied, if I want an answer I should bring the dog in. REALLY? After 5 yrs, 2 dogs and paying higher than normal fees, I have to make an appointment to get a answer on preventative care? No thank you. I'll take my dog where $$ aren't their driving motivation. My experiences with PVH over the last 20 years has been nothing but positive. Very caring Dr.s, tech's, customer service reps. My pets have always enjoyed going to the vet rather than being fearful! I trust them with the care of our "kids" throughout their entire lives. Dr. Herrema is knowledgeable, loving and takes time to spend with us and our pet. We bring both our cat and our dog to Penfield. We primarily work with Dr. Hawkins, who my pets just love. However, the whole staff is wonderful. I cannot say enough about how they love my animals like their own. They have very flexible scheduling. They are wonderful. The front desk staff, techs and vets are all reliable, effective and have a real love of animals. I was only in the area for a brief time, and Dr. Mueller was excellent. The whole staff treated me and my dog with professionalism and care every visit. Outstanding practice, great docs and staff. We have five cats and one dog, and all have been going there since 2004 (it's 2015 now). The compassion and insight of the docs (and with six or seven pets at any given time, we've seen all four docs at one time or another) is exceptional. There's little turn-over in the staff, which speaks well of the practice as well. In terms of the staff quality, they're dolls, but they don't lack in professionalism. I'd be comfortable recommending Penfield Vet to anyone. Read Less
