If anyone in our area is looking for a vet I would like to recommend Middle Country Animal Hospital. The vets and the staff have been kind and compassionate to us, not only during Molly's extended illness but also when we had to make the decision to put her to rest. We are very thankful that we were allowed to stay with her until the end. Today we received a card from them with her paw prints which I had planned to do and had not gotten around to with all that has been going on. I am also grateful to the woman in the waiting area who was waiting on her dog to be brought out who handed me tissues when we walked out and as they left mouthed "I'm very sorry" to me. Dr. Clark & Dr. Cavallo have been my pets vets for over 10 years and i wouldn't trust anyone else. When you enter the exam room the Drs treat you like your time is valuable and dont rush you, they take the time to answer all your questions & always greet my pets with lots of love and they are very patient especially when sometimes the animal doesn't want to cooperate lol... Their staff is always so pleasant and know exactly who i am when i call. Anytime i need to pickup food or medication they always get me in and out as fast as possible. I had the worst Devastating experience here. I brought my not even yr old kitty to get neutered and I get a phone call back within 2 hours that my cat had passed away. After I was told for about a half hour how healthy my cat looks and is. I am devastated and so is my family. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone in my life, and I will be sure to tell everyone I know with pets and the 3 people I know that go there not to go there any longer. Both Veterinarians have been treating my dog for her liver condition, they both are extremely helpful and honest when it comes to managing her condition. However i was a little disappointed with their staff early this morning on 6/27/18. My dog hasn't ate or drank in 2 days... my mom had called to get her seen and they told her if she were to come in it would have had to been earlier in the morning ( my mom left a message at 8:20 and they didn't get back to her until 9:30) and then told her they didn't have availability. I then called and they said they told her they had a spot in an hour and that was "pushing it" and "they really shouldn't even be booking us until tomorrow"   Unfortunately my dog cant walk and my mom cannot pick her up so we needed something a little later than an hour to give my dad time to come home from work. They were not having that. Im sorry but i worked as a vet assistant i know if there was an emergency it would have never been taken so lightly and we would have made it work and that was a practice with only one vet not two. Unreal and then i asked for a recommendation to someone else seeing they couldn't accommodate us and she replied "anywhere" i felt like saying really b*tch? If all went well i was going to take my other 4 dogs and my one cat here but now i wont be returning. Moral of the story the doctors are good but they need a better staff with better customer service. Also they should take off there website that they accept emergencies if they don't even have enough room for their current clients emergencies. Read Less

Horrible staff very rude. After arriving on time at 6 pm for an appointment, I decided to wait outside because of how small the place was. My dog is very hyper yet friendly and did not want to disturb other sick dogs. After waiting over an hour and no phone call to be seen when being told it would be a half hour to 45 minutes wait. I decided to bring braveheart (my dog) in. I asked why he hasn't been seen and I get a nasty remark from the secretary. "We've had sick dogs all day your dog looks fine just wait". Idk what kind of customer service that is but I am very displeased with the staff and how unimportant they made me feel. Read Less

Hands down the best animal hospital EVER. I've frequented veterinary services most of my life with my dogs and cats. Dr. Clark's demeanor is friendly, calming and reassuring during, what are otherwise,  stressful visits because your pets are sick or injured. His bedside manner is exceptional and he takes great care in handling his patients. The manner in which he administers his care and education to the entire family is remarkable. His knowledge is quite extensive and has the ability to explain complicated things in layman's terms, which is much appreciated. I trust no other veterinarian with my beloved pets. I've had bad experiences with other animal hospitals in Suffolk County, and no one else compares with the wonderful service and experience Middle Country Animal Hospital provides. Dr. Clark's professionalism, integrity, love for animals, is a credit to his profession. Rascal, Lucy and Zena appreciate their tender loving care.  I'm so thankful for Dr. Clark and his supportive team for all they've done for my fur family and for giving me peace of mind. P.S. Regarding the negative reviews: 1. The waits are fair and understand, like doctor's offices for humans- especially urgent care, there can be patients who are experiencing emergencies. That will affect waiting times and understandably so. Try to be patient and know you'll receive the same excellent care.   2. It's not fair to always blame health providers for a bad outcome without presenting all the facts- a lot has to do with how timely a visit is, how severe the illness is and at what stage the condition was diagnosed. I'm sorry to hear of any loss and know it's an emotional experience. Let's be fair though. This is a WONDERFUL doctor who has dedicated his life to care for the quality of life and health of animals. No doctor can guarantee everything will work out. It's up to us to take care of our pets routinely with preventive care visits (just like people), so that when there is an illness, a baseline has been established, which makes it easier to determine if something is out of range. I found this place to be the most congenial and the prices are less than other area veterinarians while the service and personableness of the doctors not only equal but surpassed the competitors. My family has been using them for years. My mom takes her dog, my sister takes her 4 dogs and I, myself have used them for 2 dogs and a cat. They are super friendly and knowledgeable. My animals love both Dr.'s. They are to the point and layout the options respectfully. They are reasonably priced and you never feel pushed into paying for things that may not "really" be needed. This practice has some of the most caring and loving people I have ever met working there. I recently lost my Furbaby and Dr Clark and Jocelyn were amazing. They made a horrible experience as pleasant as possible. And then today I received a beautiful card which contained my babies paw print a true treasure in my eyes. I've been going to this vet for about 2 years with my two dogs. While I appreciate they are thorough, they take FOREVER. Be prepared to wait and hour minimum. The staff working isn't very professional. Half the time I have to correct or instruct them on what they're doing (issues with weighing dog, what medication I was told I needed/dosage, etc.).  There prices are on the higher side compared to other vets, but you can tell both vets are huge animal lovers. They walk in and immediately cuddle and love the dogs, which is sweet. The only reason I stick with them is I don't have to come that often and the location couldn't get any more convenient. Dr Clark and Dr Cavallo are very intelligent vets and they care about each animal they treat. They've been available to me at odd hours anytime I needed them. They have amazing bedside manner and care about you and your pet. Dr Clark especially will take the extra time to go over every detail with you to make sure you're educated on your pets health. We recently lost our beloved cat of fifteen years. Charlie had been a patient of Dr. Clark's from the time we brought him home at three months old. We could not ask for a more thorough or empathetic doctor. It was plain to see how much Dr. Clark cared for Charlie during all office visits, both well and sick. When Charlie became seriously ill last month, Dr. Clark took the time to return all of our phone calls and always addressed our concerns. We never felt rushed on the phone or in the office. When Dr. Clark and I spoke of Charlie's passing, I could hear in his voice that he was sad for our family as well. We were able to have peace of mind knowing that Charlie received the best care possible. We look forward to visiting Dr. Clark with our new kittens in the near future. Read Less

i wish i didn't even have to give them one star. Bringing my dog here was one of the most horrible experiences ive ever had. Most of the staff was rude and disrespectful. the woman doctor was the most unprofessional, rude and nasty person ive ever met in my entire life. My dog was very, VERY sick when i brought him in AND he had diarrhea... so while the woman dr was examining him unfortunately he couldn't hold it in and went on the table. the dr was so disgusted with him that she ran out of the room and left us there for 15 minutes so she could go wash her entire shirt (meanwhile nothing got on her it was all on the table) when she finally returned (sopping wet) she refused to come back near him. this same doctor told me that she "doesn't tell owners more than they need to know" because it just confuses them she said to me "when you go to the mechanic do you expect them to explain how the pistons work?" i told her YES I DO! i expect to know why you are making the decisions you're making she told me it was too complicated to explain and i wouldn't understand she told me not to bring my dog to an emergency vet because the staff there "honestly don't know their ass from their elbow" (thanks very professional) most importantly of all she told me my dog had CANCER. turns out he DOESN'T after transferring him out of there and taking him to a real vet (in EMERGENCY) he is doing great. please reconsider this place if you currently take your pet there. they are not only unprofessional but will not listen to you and they are too busy to give the pets the proper care and time that they need. there is so much more i would like to say about how horrible it was there but i think this is more than enough Read Less

this place was the most unprofessional, rude nasty, and disrespectful business i have ever been in.they treated both me and my dog like garbage.they told me he has cancer when it turns out he didn't.dr cavallo literally started yelling at me for asking too many questions about my very sick dog and told me she "doesn't tell owners more than they need to know" and "when i go to the mechanic do i make them explain what the pistons do too?" to which i responded YES! if your telling me we are up to $2000.00 and we still don't have any answers you absolutely better explain yourself to me.i will never be back here and i encourage other people to rethink bringing their pets here as you don't know if your getting all the information you need to make an informed decision Read Less

Not only is the veterinarian NOT trained to treat birds, he also is extremely unknowledgable. I took my cockatiel here four times, and every time he told me that the cockatiel was fine and doing better than before. When i noticed he wasnt actually recovering, i took him to another vet for a second opinion. My bird ended up having giaria, a lethal parasite if untreated, and a secondary infection. I'm pretty disappointed in Middle Country. My parents have been bringing our dogs there for almost 20 years now, they haven't been extremely happy with them since every time they go they have to wait at least 2 HOURS, but since it's only been a one-year thing they never switched. I have a persian cat who I adopted and brought her for her regular check-up there. I noticed one day, on a Saturday, that she has been getting a huge bald spot which is now clumping and scabbing. They refused to see her or even recommend a place that we could see her that day. I thought it was ridiculous that if they weren't able to accommodate something as simple as a skin issue they could at least send us to a place who would. The girl who answered the phone said "I don't know I've never had to recommend a vet before". I interned at Heart of Chelsea Animal Hospital in Manhattan and they would never turn away a client whose been seeing them for that long for a skin issue, I've heard the same for Farmingville Animal Hospital. They only have one vet on at a time who doesn't even show up until 10am, which I think is a little ridiculous and borderline lazy. My mom also mentioned that when she was talking to the vet about people shadowing, the vet basically complained and said that she has someone shadowing her now but it's only because she knows his family. I didn't really like that attitude. Overall, it just seems to make more sense to go to Farmingville Animal Hospital, I've head really great things about them from multiple people, especially about how they never have to wait more than 15 minutes, and that's where I'll be taking my pets from now on. Dr. Clark is one of the most caring vets I have ever seen. My parents started using him in 1988 when we moved to Selden. He was always so patient & caring, and took time to explain everything & answer all questions. I remember he even cried with us when we had to put our cat to sleep after a stroke. After getting married & having our own pets, my Husband & I knew there was no one else we would trust our fur babies with. He cared for our dog his whole life. And I just brought in our new puppy for her first visit. Just like at our former Dog's first visit, Dr. Clark was giving our puppy kisses the while time. Waited almost 10 minutes but they were very courteous and helpful. They don't try to push unnecessary shenanigans on you, except front line for tick prevention, but that makes sense.
