This animal hospital is the most pleasant I've ever been to. Whether handling my Chinchillas broken leg, or clipping my Sugar Gliders nails, or working with my Yorkie when he had cancer, the Vets and their techs and assistants have been warm and embracing. The hospital is located in an old house that gives it that Country Doctor feel. They've always been very accommodating with appointments, and pricing isn't going to bust your wallet.Read Less

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGCHILD HERE!!!! They gave our little Lena 3 vaccines on same visit leading to us waking up at midnight to Lena vomiting and involuntary weewee, she seized- we ran her to the vet ER where thankfully she ended up fine after giving her Benadryl etc.... the ER vet along with our new vet Dr Wen said vaccines should never be administered in this way. North Fork Animal Hospital didn't care- although they cared after my phone call of what they did and started calling us EVERYDAY apologizing and promising it would never happen again. They too gave Lena a Lymes vaccine then tested her for Lymes which of course was positive because of the vaccine and they dosed her w doxycycline when she didn't need it!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGCHILD HERE! Maybe for a nail clipping but they hardly do that without having to bring her back every 2 weeks for $16. Read Less

What a wonderful staff and an awesome Doctor! They truly are very compassionate, gentle and caring with your pet. I took my cat there this morning at 9am and saw Dr. D'Amato. The wait time was next to nothing- we were seen relatively quickly! With the examination, testing, etc., we were out of there by 9:45! Not bad. We had brought our Yorkshire Terrier here several times over the years for routine health evaluations, and found the doctors and staff to always have been very kind, helpful, and informative. At 15 and suffering, we brought our beloved dog in for what would be a final visit. Everybody felt like family in helping guide us through the toughest decision a dog-owner can ever have to face. A few years ago I found a feral kitten living in my backyard.  The kitten looked near death.  The first vet I went to wanted to put the kitten down.  I traveled to North Fork Animal hospital from Westhampton because they were the only ones that would see her immediately after that.  Dr. Pisciotta nursed her back to life.  Over the past seven years he has treated her for infections from the unavoidable consequences of being an indoor/outdoor cat.  On Friday we made the trip again.  Dr. Pisciotta was thorough and kind during the exam and treatment.  The cat was less stressed than when I take her to be groomed.  It's Sunday today and my cat is healthy and happy and so is my family.  Thank you Dr. Pisciotta. I cannot say enough amazing things about my experience today here!! We have moved around a bunch over the past few years. Having been to several vets for my cats I have never found one where both myself and my boys were so comfortable at! From the minute we walked in today till now we could not be happier with today's visit. We saw Dr. Cabral today for a urinary issue and the moment she walked in the room my cat ran over to her and found a new friend. (Every past visit he hides and is miserable) She was able to keep him calm and relaxed through the whole visit including through the exam and shots. She also discovered he has a heart murmur which we never knew and took the time to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions. North Fork Animal Hospital is about a 30 minute drive from my house and I have no problems making the drive for the level of car we received today.  NFAH came highly recommended from a friend and I will be doing the same! had bad experience there too. dog needed antibiotic for tick bite and was in renal failure. same doc as above said we should put the pet to sleep.  took her to vet in nyc and urine showed the infection. nf doc looked at the urine and never tested it.  he also said to take her off protein which is part of what kills these pets w renal failure. they become anorexic.  dog is still alive and well no thanks to north fork animal hospital. 5/1/2013To say that North Fork Animal Hospital and their staff is THE BEST would be an incredible understatement!! If not for the expert knowledge of Dr. Pisciotta and his staff my family would have lost both of our dogs this past winter due to differing emergencies. We have been bringing our animals to North Fork Animal Hospital for several years and each time we are treated with professional and courteous staff! Our dog was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer. Dr. Pisciotta and the other veterinarians on staff were there every second to answer any questions we had and were genuinely concerned with how our dog was progressing. Unfortunately, due to the aggressive nature of my dog's cancer, we lost her in March. Dr. Pisciotta's staff was there for us every step of the way offering condolences and support for our loss. It was blatantly apparent to us that the welfare of our "pet" (more accurately, our family member) was of the utmost importance to the staff at North Fork Animal Hospital. Although the loss of our Daisy Mae was absolutely devastating, I am certain beyond the shadow of a doubt that every possible action that could be taken to save her life was, in fact, taken. I fully trust the staff at North Fork Animal Hospital and highly recommend them to everyone! They truly love what they do and treat your pet as a family member! I have been going to North Fork Animal Hospital for almost a decade. I almost always deal with Dr. Pisciotta. I have never seen a more thorough or dedicated veterinarian. I wish I could find a doctor for myself that I trusted as much as I trust his expertise. Not only has he impressed me with his knowledge and professionalism, but he genuinely cares about the care that each of his patients receive. He and his staff have mourned with friends of mine who have used his services and have unfortunately lost their pets due to unpreventable illness or old age. He has also successfully saved animals that I feel others would have written off for good. He is always going the extra mile for his patients. Not to mention the work he does in the community by donating his services to several organizations. I could not possibly say enough good things about North Fork Animal Hospital. I will remain a devoted client as long as I continue to include pets in my family! Read Less

Do not give this business your money! I live on the East End and unfortunately there are not a whole lot of Animal Hospital choices. The staff is incredibly rude, their prices for pet products are extremely overpriced, and they keep trying to tell me that my animals need more shots and more care when I bring them in for routine checkups or for boarding. By far the worst thing about this "hospital" is the answering service. THE PHONE IS ALWAYS BUSY. I refuse to take my animals here. Instead I go to Mattituck, there is much better service and care. Three bad/wrong diagnoses by Dr. Pisciotta. I can't speak about the other vets there because my experience was just with him. One misdiagnosis cost my my dog's life. She had cancer and he kept insisting that she didn't. It took another vet to confirm her cancer and by then it was too late to treat it. In my other two dogs, he missed a crucial diagnosis that could have saved a lot of money if it had been treated sooner. I gave him many chances and I will never return there. The biggest problem is that he thinks he knows all the answers and he simply does not listen to you when you tell him what's going on. It's completely irresponsible. Read Less
