Dewitt Animal Hospital P C

Syracuse, New York
General Info
Dewitt Animal Hospital P C in Syracuse provides compassionate and knowledgeable care to pets in the area. The services include Boarding, Dental Care, Laboratory, Microchipping, and Vaccinations. With an empathetic team that understands the profound bond between pets and their families, the practice strives to promote wellness, address chronic medical issues, and handle acute concerns. Dewitt Animal Hospital P C Syracuse explains that animals closely pay attention to their owners’ behavior and learn from them. A trembling hand or tight voice causes clinics delay, while clinical success begins with emotional calmness at home in New York. The way the elements are arranged in the room enables the state of stillness. The way the chairs are arranged also follows a specific pattern designed to minimize pressure. Exam tables change their format for better access and visibility. Staff members assess key caregiver metrics such as breathing rate, vocal pitch, and eye movement before animals approach because pets constantly monitor their humans for cues. Silence is deliberately employed. An ideal initial care approach involves waiting to allow the dog or cat to reflect decelerated rhythms before any practice application. Dewitt Animal Hospital P C provides integrative services, which include organs’ diagnostics and pain threshold analysis. Other targeted exams like allergy identification, hydration status, and energy-based wellness analysis are also available as deemed appropriate. The schedule of visits is planned because morning animals can endure more attention while evening pets need some silent time with the observer. Effective animal communication relies on vocal tone variations: anxious dogs respond better to low-pitched voices, and cats are less startled when the frequency band is narrowed. Instructions on what to do at home include guidelines on how to treat the pet, such as which words to use when talking to it, when to ignore it, and when and where to place it (e.g., in sunlight or dark isolation). These patterns promote the body’s and mind’s return to baseline. Dewitt Animal Hospital P C connects the nervous systems of pets and owners across Syracuse and New York in a way that maintains clinical integrity, coherence, and balance.

This is my usual clinic and my cat had a potential exposure to a bat that was found dead in our apartment. Each time I called, I was told to contact someone else. The first time, I was told to contact a local emergency clinic that doesn't even carry the rabies vaccine (they told me I need to talk to my usual vet). The next time I called to make an appointment for a rabies booster shot, to which they said they would look into it and call me back. When they called me back, Nicole advised me they were fully booked for the next couple of days and told me to contact the ADC which will help me find me an appointment. Sounds great, but how do I contact them? Nicole told me just to google it and I can find the number that way. I had to ask what the ADC stood for because a cursory Google search returns: Art Director's Club, Arkansas Department of Corrections, Analog-to-Digial Converter, etc. Nicole advised me it stands for Animal Diagnostic Clinic. OK, that search only returns results for a clinic in Dallas, Texas. I believe they meant Animal Diagnostic Center through Cornell University, but they were incapable of providing even that essential information. The whole experience was unprofessional from the way they gave me next to no information and pushed me off the call with "OK have a nice day," to the condescending tone they employed. The County gave me better advice about what to do with the dead bat and my cat, advising me to quarantine my cat and get him a booster shot. Not once did this clinic talk me through what I should do. It's highly unlikely that my cat has rabies, but there is a potentially deadly exposure, and it is reprehensible that they should treat such a situation with this egregious neglect and insincerity. magine this....last night the smoke detector went off and your little dog ran out of the house. The family tried to get the little dog. They search the neighborhood. They went on the lost dog web site in their neighborhood. They found out someone found their dog and took it to a shelter. They search and search finally find the shelter. They hurried over to the shelter. They were so relieved until they were greeted by and uncaring and rude employee. The employee said you can't see your dog. Take a peek. The little dog tried to get out of the cage to get to them. They new it was there dog and the it recognized them. They were not allowed near their dog. Imagine how you would feel. They were told they would have to get animal control. So....... upset they were forced to leave. They called animal control nothing could be done, they called the police. They spent 3 hours called and doing everything they could to get their little dog back. The last thing the employee said when they asked if someone would be there overnight (concerned because so many big dogs barking). "We are an animal hospital not a day care center" laughed and hung up. The worst night of this families life. Oh, and by the way they charged them for the overnight stay. So that was Dewitt Animal Hospital where this dog used to be a patient and the family had tons of picture. They had ACA paperwork and records.Read Less

I have never taken my dogs here but the recent experience I had with them were amazing. On 8/9 my kids found a sweet pit bull running loose. I tried my best to find it a home before I had to call animal control but no luck The last thing i wanted to do was send her to a shelter because she was such a sweet dog and i know how pit bulls are "feared". My dogs were going crazy, so my husband made the call. As animal control came to get her, my heart broke and I cried as they took off. Before they left, we made sure to find out where she was going. As people asked me if we still had her, I explained to them the situation and where she was going, I had people telling me that she would be killed there, etc so I began to get more upset because i listened to people who only believe what they hear. The next day, I called to see if she went there and in fact, she did. I actually spoke to the receptionist about her and asked the procedure and was told that there was a 5 day hold for the owner to find her. After the hold was up, she would be given the temperament test and if all went well, she would go up for adoption. I was also told that they work with local rescues to help get her adopted. I then asked if it would be OK if I called to check up on her and the receptionist was nice and told me I could. I felt so much better after speaking to them. I called yesterday to see how she was and to see if she was still there and she is. She is an amazing dog. My 5 kids loved her and all she did was give them kisses and laid next to them. So, if you are looking for a sweet dog who loves kids, ask for the female pit bull found on first north st. I really wish that I had a picture to put up of her. Anyways, the workers there are nowhere near rude as some have said. They are very sweet and were very helpfulRead Less

My wife and I were in Syracuse so that my wife could run the Syracuse half marathon. We live in the Adirondacks and come to Syracuse often to visit family. While my wife was running, I went into The On Center to get out of the elements. The Dewitt Animal Hospital had a booth in the center and I spotted this sweet little pit bull mix named Gracie. We had to put down our 15 year dog a few months ago and we were going looking for a rescue dog. I knew that Gracie was that Dog and when my wife finished the race, Gracie confirmed it. She abandoned her calm demeanor and ran to my wife, greeting her with tail wagging and licks. Game, set, match. We had to adopt her. This was a Sunday and the staff at Dewitt Animal Hospital and Shelter went out of their way to help us. We stayed in Syracuse an extra day and came home with Gracie on Monday. This only happened because of the help and dedication of the staff at the shelter. Thank you Dewitt Animal Hospital staff and if you're reading this, bring joy into your life and rescue a shelter dog. Read Less

Everytime I leave this place, I feel insulted and angered. Went in for a evaluation of a cleaning for aprox. 250 and leave with an open ended 1000 dollar estimate that they do not explain at all. If they are so caring and compassionate of animals why do they muzzle my dog before coming three feet from her, maybe they could ask if she has a history of aggression . The evaluation was a joke as he was too scared of my loving dog to even look at her teeth. Had me show him what I thought was wrong because im the one with the vet degree right? So thanks for the 85 dollar visit now im guessing what the evaluation means or what my options are since the doctor could care less to talk to me about it. Read Less

The attendant shows no respect. They let us wait for one and half an hour. Those who came later were treated in front of us. Is it because we have a cat? And when we went to the doctor, he refused to see the cat because the cat was shocked by the doggies. Later, our cat was calm down. He also refused to make the examination. I will never come to those hospital again. It is really a waste of time. I spend my whole morning in this bad place Read Less

Read Less
