I took my dog there two days before Christmas in the evening . He was treated , had blood drawn for several tests and given medication. I was told to call in a few days for the results and to keep in mind it's the holiday season. I waited about 4 days before I called and someone by the name of Mike answered and told me that a doctor would have to give me the results and that he would get a doctor to call me later on that day. It is now March and the doctor has not called me yet. I didn't bother to call back merry Xmas to them I spent almost $600 and didn't get a call back. I've followed up with my dog's regular vet and was also given information for other hospitals in case of an emergency. Read Less

Very poor service. Most of the doctors working there are Non competent. A doctor on call comes out telling me my pet was getting atropine while it was given epinephrine. Most of the ancillary staff is not very compassionate. They don't really feel for your pet. They charge u double of the prices what other and way better vet clinics would do. Their mineola location is even worse. Had Terrible terrible experience. I would NOT ever recommend this place or any of their other locations. Read Less

The doctors here saved my puppy's life. She got a terrible allergic reaction to her first bordetella shot (given at north shore). Her face was completely swollen at 10:30 in the evening. This place was the only place close enough and open (open 24 hours!). The staff were all friendly and helpful. I had to call again the next day to ask some follow up questions and I was so surprised how quickly someone picked up and helped me (north shore never picks up their calls). Hopefully there isn't another emergency, but if anything happens, this is the place I trust to bring my puppy. Read Less

Unfortunately I would have to give this Veterinary Facility two stars. The only reason why is because they charge for EVERY little thing. My dog had an ear infection and suffering seizures. They offered to keep her overnight to provide volume to her but if we wanted them to care for her ears it was an additional cost for EACH medication. Within their care, my dog suffered another seizure. I went to another Vet in Long Island and they offered anti-seizure medication, to care for her ears AND monitor her overnight at a WAY cheaper price. Money hungry Owner, however they have nice staff. We took our cat here for minor surgery. The vet on staff was thorough and clear about what had to be done but the cost of everything was ridiculous!! I felt taken advantage of because we were so worried about our cat that we would have paid any price to fix him. When we received our bill I was shocked . Each over night stay costs almost 500 dollars per night, x rays are always added in the mix of the bill which are a few hundred each on top of any procedure that needs to be done. For a minor surgery, it's cost us a total of almost 3,000.000. Read Less

All I can say is thank you for taking care of our dog Cooper. He was vomiting and we were nervous and his regular vet was closed (a branch of this vet) so we decided to come here just to make sure he was ok. The two girls at the front desk were very sweet explained the costs and everything to us (Didn't get their names sorry!) The vet's assistant took us to a room, loved up our dog and went over everything with us about Cooper and then brought in the doctor. The dr, Dr. Spyder I believe was her name, she had red hair and she was just awesome. She came in started out by loving up cooper, got his history from us and did an exam, she was sweet, honest, kind and thorough with the dog and us lol! She really put out mind at ease and explained it was probably just an upset stomach but we thought it might've been more she gave him basically an anti nauseous shot and some bland food almost like a brat diet for dogs. Thank you again for taking such good care of Cooper!!! Read Less

On Thursday 8/30 my wife and I took our cat Rocky home from the veterinary hospital in Farmingdale. He had had a biopsy for what they think was lymphoma. Rocky had a feeding tube because he hadn't been eating. When we got him home, we fed him Friday morning with the tube and then by midday he started eating orally which made us very happy. Later that night after he had eaten again, about 15 minutes later he started to have a seizure. We rushed him to Central Veterinary Assoc, who are not our regular Vet, in an emergency. They took him in and did the best they could to help Rocky. Dr. P was extremely helpful and compassionate as was the staff. When I called in the morning, Dr. Spyder was there and told us he had been having seizures throughout the night and told us to come in immediately. Sadly, there was nothing more we could do to save our little boy. Dr. Spyder was very compassionate. Monday morning we went back looking for answers as to what could have caused Rocky's seizures (he had never had a seizure before) and Dr. Spyder spent at least a half an hour with us trying to help find the answers. She treated Rocky with dignity and had so much respect for our feelings. She helped us sort out some of the possibilities of what could have happened to our Rocky and she truly went above and beyond which makes her a great veterinarian. The staff there were very helpful including Bonnie who said she would handle all our insurance claims for us without ever having met us before today. Veterinarians can easily get a bad rap especially when things don't go well for you. In this case, they did everything that they could to help us during our emergency and even after. Read Less

Sooo...the doctor says one thing, the nurse says another and the receptionist says another. I'm confused and when I explained it to them they agreed they didn't make sense but still said that's their rules. The doctor asked if our dog had her shots because if she didn't she couldn't treat her. So if she didn't have them they needed to get it and they would do it. Ok we agreed. Then they treat her for everything..it's time to leave and my sister lets them know she's coming in the car to get my card to pay. She leaves her phone and bag so they understand and don't think she's not coming back. The bill is over $500 smh. The girl runs out after her as if my sister is running away from the bill. We are parked right in front. My sister told her she's coming. We talk about it we go over the bill because I'm confused how it's so much when they mentioned $150. I don't see the updated shots and I'm confused even more. The girl comes out again like two minutes later. It's like 2 in the morning so it's annoying and I'm super tired. She pays the bill and I decided to call about the lack of shots on the bill. Receptionist says if I don't see it on the receipt it's because it wasn't given. I mentioned- that's obvious but I'm confused why they didn't give it to her. She said if the dog is too sick they can't give her the shots. Ok.. but the doctor said she can't be seen without it. So which one is it?! I told her she didn't make sense she said she knows and that's the rules. Lmaooo what? How the rules contradict each other? Read Less

I give this place a big "ZERO" but in order for me to write this you must put at least one star. I have a 7 month Pomeranian went away on vacation for 6 days. Never left my pup anywhere decided to leave him here after a co-worker recommended. So 1st off $30 per day for boarding was great.. so I thought. They tell you to take your dog there the same day you're leaving him so of course it's last minute & you're trapped. I end up paying $362.00 by the time they were done with Dr. checking him, shoots & tests to make sure he's good to stay. 6 days later I get back from vacation and of course same day pick him up cause I miss him. Next morning after picking him up my son wakes me up saying the dog sounds like he can't breath. I get up scared, take him to my vet & discovered he had kennel cough. Tell his Vet. the story and bring all the tests & shots they claimed he needed before entering. When his original Vet read the paper work she realized the shots & stool sample were taken the exact same day we went to pick him up after vacation.  So for them I'm guessing the money is more important than our pets health. I will definitely not recommend anyone to leave their pets in this boarding facility. It's been about thirteen days after picking him up & my pup still has kennel cough. Read Less

The only pleasant person was the front desk receptionist. Later on my dog had a medical emergency at home (less than 12 hrs later), which could have been forseen had he had a thorough examination. I started going to this facility for over a year now and I had never had an issue in feeling that I was being taken advantage by any doctor. When I had asked if they could look at my dog for potential red flag signs of illness, they did just that and did not make me feel that I needed urgent care to address any of the issue which is typical for vet facility to do. That is until my last time visiting the clinic to have all the shots given to my dog. The overweight Caucasian male doctor, came in to the examining room to examine my dog, you could tell his first mission was to please his vendors rather than seeing my dog as an important asset to my family. At the time, my dog was not feeling well and she needed antibiotic to aid her stool to be a bit solid. The doctor saw the opportunity to add even more products that was never told by other doctor I needed. I knew what he was doing and so when the total came up to $460 and something dollar, I asked him to reduced it. He eliminated the Large bag of food (Like I did not have that at home) to a medium and the gel teeth. I could still remember him saying (after I kept refusing because of the price), "Don't come crying back to us. if she isn't better." I immediately replied, "I will be crying elsewhere before I come back here." Despite he gave me a pro bono discount and my regular military discount, which did not really did much to the balance, I knew that it was time for me to go somewhere else to avoid having to him again as a doctor. PLUS: When I call to order a product my dog needed, I was told that a blood test was never completed for my dog. If I did not called, my dog would of been vulnerable to all kind of illnesses. I brought my cat in on thanksgiving after he choked (nearly to death). Both the techs and vets were kind, concerned, and very knowledgeable. My cat had to stay overnight for fluids and to make sure he didn't have an obstruction since he vomited blood. The overnight vet called me right away once his X-ray results came back. I was able to pick up my kitty the next day. Prices for animals are high pretty much anywhere you go. I've just learned what to say no to, for example the medications came out to hundreds, but with further questioning I saw that they were trying to include cat antacids and other add ons which weren't necessary, so asking for the minimum (just antibiotics) the price dropped. The care was exceptional I highly recommend this place! Read Less

I would give this place less stars, but Mike at the front desk was so great! I came to this place on Saturday, 8/12/17. At first, I thought the Vet assistant was great. He was personable and easy to talk to, but as soon as it came to providing the shots to my animal - things took a turn. I got the feeling that the vet just wanted to sell as many products as possible and not really invested in just providing me the best service. I had to remind them to do a few things and ask a bunch of questions to get an answer. I had no idea that some of the shots were not covered by the pet store that I bought the dog from (part of the contract is that they covered shots) and Mike was so generous to waive the fee. In addition, the vet recommended some ear cleaner, which I did not really want but felt like I needed to buy it. The front desk made me feel very comfortable with everything. I'd say that this place is very focused on selling their products and as many as possible. They are knowledgeable in some aspects, but in most cases they don't seem that well trained in providing the best customer service. I would not be surprised if they tried to convince you that you need every type of medication or xray for your pet.Otherwise, the front desk people were great and were so helpful and genuine! Let me start this review by saying that the people who think this place is trying to rip them off are crazy. What do they expect to pay for medical treatment for their pets? If you go to a human hospital without health insurance, the bill will likely be astronomical. It isn't because the doctors and nurses are pocketing the money. Medical equipment and testing are expensive. If you don't want to pay for quality care for your pets, you shouldn't have them. This place is incredible. I take both my dog and male cat to the Central Vets in Bayside, but this was the first time I had gone to the one in Valley Stream. My female cat started crying in pain after a few days of poor intake. My boyfriend and I read up on blockages and were so afraid that she had one so we called a bunch of vets. All of them said to call back in the morning, but we just couldn't listen to her cry all night. We decided to take her to the 24-hour emergency hospital in Valley Stream at around 10PM. We called ahead and the vet was literally waiting for her when we got there. We were taken in right away. We were told what was happening every step of the way. Before we agreed to have her admitted, they gave us a very detailed bill of each item. They gave us time to look it over before agreeing to the admission. There were no surprises and we knew exactly what the costs would be. Our cat had to stay for two nights, went through multiple exams, had multiple treatments, was sent home on food and seven medications and the bill wasn't even $2,500! From all the negative reviews I was expecting to pay at least $4000. I considered the cost extremely inexpensive. I don't remember the name of the female vet the night we took our cat in (on account of I was a hot mess) but she was amazing! The other female vet was awesome, too. The receptionist named Mike was outstanding. You can tell everyone truly cares about animals there. One last thing- when I went to pick up my cat, I was told she had bitten one of the techs a couple days prior. I think the bite was pretty bad, but they weren't even mad. They said that these things happen and they just wanted me to be aware of it. They were more concerned for my cat than themselves. They are some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I will absolutely be using Central Vets for all my pets, and recommending them to anyone in need of veterinary care :) Read Less

There is no exaggeration to be had when I say in 40 years of pets I've had there has been no worse place than this. The female Veterinary on the clock memorial day morning was absolutely   incompetent or just sketchy. They tried to get $2300 from us to do every test imaginable, even brain x-rays for a Yorkie exhibiting HGE symptoms wtf? When we made apparent we were aghast by the exorbitant charges, she got pissed and stormed out. By the way just to see your pet they charge $135. We went to a beautiful swanky animal hospital in Huntington where ironically compared to this ish hole, charged only $75 for appointment, while total charges were only $229!  And we got authentic smiles and free coffee lol But seriously, love your pet don't go here! They took blood and gave me antibiotics and pain medication for my dog .. they charged me $600 which was fine because I was happy to be getting my dog the help she needed, upon receiving the blood word results the doctors told me everything was 'normal' but when I sent her work over to her original vet they said that my dog had a lot of red signals in her blood, and when doing research on the medicine i was given .. one wasn't even for pain it was for vomiting which my dog wasn't doing. $600 out and they did absolutely nothing for me. We unfortunately needed to bring our dog here for an emergency visit late one evening. Our first visit was good, the Dr. we saw was nice and ran some tests that visit and diagnosed our dog with a treatable GI issue.  She treated our dog with antibiotics and some prescription food and we were on our way.  A couple of  months later our dog had another issue, same exact symptoms as last time and we decided to bring him back there since they recently did the blood work and tests and had all his information on file. We saw a different Dr. who recommended our dog stay for AT LEAST 3 nights to do more blood work, x-rays, sedation, and ect. When I questioned it and mentioned that he was just there and had already been diagnosed with something by his colleague he rudely said "that's IF what he was diagnosed with is correct.". um, really? Knowing that he had previous GI issues not once did he ask me what he has been eating or anything about his habits.  He left the room and then one of the girls from the front desk brought me out the itemized bill which was $2,000 for the first 24 hours, plus $700 each additional day.  At that time I told the girl that I would be taking him to our regular vet and that i felt all of the additional testing was unnecessary and didn't want to put my dog through all of that.  As I was paying my $200 bill for just walking in that day he came out to try to talk me out of leaving...then said "If you want we could treat him as an outpatient and see how he responds".  So i agreed and he gave him a shot of antibiotics along with pain meds. My dog immediately responded to the antibiotic and no joke, was already better by the time we were leaving. Why wouldn't they give this as an option in the first place? Why did they wait until I had one foot out the door?  If I would had agreed to let them keep my dog the poor thing would had been put through hell and we would had been out a lot of money. My dog has been fine since. After speaking with my regular vet I found out that it was the rawhide bones i was feeding him that was causing his GI issues. I'm happy I stood my ground and did not let them take him in for unnecessary testing.  Felt like they were trying to take advantage of the situation to make money.  Never again, they are crooks! WORST service ever. I just adopted a kitten 3 weeks ago and she developed an eye infection. Her eyes were shut, I took (Pumpkin) to them this morning and they refused to see her because I did not have my records with me. The night receptionist is very nasty and as far as I see she does not care for animals. My kitten was in pain and no one cared. This is cruelty to animals, they should be shut down. How can you refuse care to a sick animal, they cannot talk and need we humans to care for them. I will never go back there and I hope who ever is reading this do not go there to experience the same treatment I got. I did take my dog there 3 months ago without his records and he was seen. This is THE WORST vet! We brought our kitten to be seen this morning because something was really wrong with her eye. The cornea was moved and she is pain. They turned us away because we didn't have her records with us. We brought my dog a few weeks ago without records and they saw him with no issues. According to them the doctor on call today is really "particular". Well keep a standard of care then! This is ridiculous. This is an adopted kitten that I have for only 3 weeks. How can you love animals and not just see the pet. They don't even do this to humans!!! Humans are seen without insurance. Don't go here if you have an emergency your pet they will turn you away. years ago my dog I rushed my dog in to my neighborhood vet not by choice, but out of desperation because it was a Sunday and she was fading fast. she ended up having a closed pyometra. I was young, 21/22, and had no idea about anything and BOY did they see me coming. they charged me not 2 or 3 but $6000 for the surgery and maybe, at most, 3 days of hospitalization. they were gracious enough to extend me a line of credit from the hospital itself, on top of 2 credit cards i had to open, so that is where the 1 star comes from. after speaking with several other vet's they made it very clear that that was and insane price to charge for that. it was at least $1000-3000 more than anywhere else. what makes matters even worse is that, after the surgery, my dog started snowballing downhill and I got barely 6 months out of her before I had to put her down. after that, I had read a lot of shocking reviews from former employees that made me sick to my stomach. Horrible place! Will never ever go back here and will tell people to steer clear of this disgusting place. My dog had an emergancy at 11pm so our regular vet was not opened but we had to bring him somewhere. When we brought him in, they refused to see him without paper proof of a rabies shot even though he had the tag on his collar with the serial number and all. So with my bleeding dog I had to drive allllll the way home so dig through receipts to try and find more proof that he had the vaccine. When I finally came back, the vet techs were very rude and said they were going to charge me over $1000 just to drain his anal gland which is where he was bleeding from. They wanted to keep him over night. Due to the way they treated him in front of me, I decided I did not feel it was safe for him to stay over night with these nasty horrible people.

Read Less

The ER doc had a passive, nonchalant attitude. I knew just as much as he did about my dog's ailment from googling it. I took my dog in to see if he had an infection and a fever.

Or maybe get a second opinion? - Not warm and fuzzy. EVERY employee should make me and my pet feel valued. - Unprofessional. checking in not overly welcoming or friendly. When checking out  (while bracing myself for bill punch in the face which I got.

The staff is unprofessional, nasty and careless. I will have to wait until 10am for another vet to open. We were crying at the desk and they didn't care. Thanks for nothing. The worst experience. I accompanied a family member for an emergency visit with  their dog. The staff was very friendly and polite; however, I will say this .... be prepared to spend thousands of dollars. If you are unable to afford to get your pet better,  they will immediately ask you if you want to euthanize your pet. I read quite a few other comments on this board, and - from what I gather - most are concurring that this establishment is more about money than pet care. Read Less

Horrible! I wish I could give -10 stars. The girl at the desk was so rude when I got on the phone with her. I happened to be very upset and she was repeating everything I was saying to her co worker without even having me on hold. Poor customer service. The fact that my dog had recently passed away, they found every which way to charge us with no sympathy at all. They are so damn money hungry! I am surprised they're still in business. STAY AWAYY!! I took my 15 year old dog in with some serious problems and I had to have her put down that night. They were very nice through out the very sad ordeal until the end. I had a coupon of theirs with me for $50.00 dollars of the visit. However, being wrapped up in the moment of putting my dog of 15 years down, I forgot to give them the coupon. I got home ten minutes later and realized I forgot to give them the coupon and called them up. I explained that I had just left ten minutes ago and I was very upset about my dog and would bring the coupon back in a few minutes. They said we are sorry about your dog but once you pay the fee you can not use the coupon, no exceptions. As you can see from the other reviews, their first priority is $$$, NO EXCEPTIONS! Read Less

years ago my dog I rushed my dog in to my neighborhood vet not by choice, but out of desperation because it was a Sunday and she was fading fast. she ended up having a closed pyometra. DON'T BRING YOUR PET HERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT. Read Less

Vet and vet techs were friendly, staff was ok. The space seemed very clean. We started to bring our dog to this vet after we moved. Luckily, we did not have to deal with any illnesses or emergencies while we were a patient there; mostly check ups and shots, but we also didn't stay long with them. We constantly felt we were being sold. Every visit was something else we 'needed'; it made us feel uncomfortable. Our last visit the vet had given our dog shots wo discussing with us first. We explained after the fact we didn't request additional (unnecessary) shots, basically was told it's better for the dog and was charged!!!! Goodbye! Read Less

If you hate animals, you shouldn't work with animals. And these people clearly hates animals and enjoys seeing them suffer. Read Less
