I cannot say enough positive things about Perinton Veterinary Hospital. After being told by the emergency vet that our 15 year old chihuahua would not live if she didn't have surgery within days our emotions were high and we were not sure we would be able to afford it. We called around- our regular vet has carpel tunnel and is not doing surgery currently so we were referred to Perinton eventually after many calls and rejections from other clinics due to their full schedules. Dr. Scheider and his team took in my dog(who was not a regular patient) for a same day surgery during his lunch hour. He called me before surgery and after and the next day to update me, his vet techs and team were so friendly and communicative with me as I called to get updates. He also made sure the price was within what we could afford based on the estimate he provided to us. I am speechless that 24 hours ago we thought we would have to put down our beloved pup and now we are going to pick up our recovering happy dog. I cannot thank the Perinton Veterinary Hospital enough and will continue to bring our dog Lily to them as a regular patient. A simple review and 5/5 stars doesn't even cut it for these people! Sometimes you have to switch vets.  It happens and that's okay!  Our dogs love coming here!  They bound right into the room and smell all around - a clean happy place!  The doctors and staff are just lovely to work with and they always try to get us in if we have an emergency or strong concern about the health of our dogs.  I would say reasonable - as animal care can be expensive. While most of my experiences have been wonderful I have to say how very disappointed I was on Wednesday November 22.  My animals have been patients there for 20 yrs and in a time when I really needed them I was told they were too busy and to go to the emergency vet in Henrietta.  My pet needed to be put down and I had to do this with people I didn't know.  At such a crucial time I can't believe they couldn't fit me in.  I've personally had scheduled appointments and been told I would have to wait due to an emergency.  I wish the same courtesy would have been extended to me last night.  Putting an animal down is never easy and to do it in a strange place not to mention extreme cost was heartbreaking.  If I didn't love Dr Fish and Dr Smith so much I would move my pets to another veterinary hospital.  To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.  I'm heartbroken and will never forget this experience.  To Dr Fish, Dr Smith, Tammy, Charmaine and a few others, you in my opinion are why I remain loyal to Perinton.  I appreciate everything you have all done over the years.  Last night was hopefully not something that will ever happen again. Shame on those who turned me away in a desperate hour of need.  I will never recommend anyone to this individual.  Thanks for making this Thanksgiving less than pleasant for my family.  The review I gave reflects only my experience recently, otherwise Dr Fish and Dr Smith would be rated off the chart for their service, knowledge, compassion, and bedside manners! Dr. Scheider is hands down the best veterinarian around! Having moved to the area over a year ago, Dr. Scheider came highly recommended. From our first visit, Dr. Scheider went above and beyond for our dog. Our dog can be nervous around men, but he loves Dr. Scheider. Dr. Scheider was on the floor with Echo getting to know him. He takes the time to get to know your pet as well as you. Our dog was recently diagnosed with bone cancer and it's because of Dr. Scheider's accurate diagnosis and treatment plan that our dog is still here today. He saved our dog's life. He really cares about the pets he sees and takes a real interest in them. It's not uncommon for Dr. Scheider to check in on our dog to see how he's doing as how we are doing. He takes time out of his own personal life to always be there. The only thing I wish we had done differently is move to the area so we could've had him care for our dog earlier. Dr. Scheider is the absolute best veterinarian!! We moved to the area over a year ago and Dr. Scheider was highly recommended. From the first visit with our dog, Echo, he went above and beyond. Echo can be scared of men at times and Echo loves him. Dr. Scheider wasted no time getting on the floor to visit with Echo. This took any fear Echo had away. Recently, Echo was diagnosed with bone cancer, which Dr. Scheider found immediately. Dr. Scheider has been so kind, compassionate and put Echo's well being above all. Because of his early diagnosis and treatment options, Dr. Scheider has given us extra time to spoil our boy and his quality of life has been amazing. My husband and I both credit Dr. Scheider with saving Echo's life. Dr. Scheider takes time out of his own personal schedule to check in on Echo. Everyone here was extremely nice and the atmosphere was calm/clean. Outside of that I've had nothing but issues. I have a now 10 month old German Shepherd. Who has had 5 infections. (All different ear, uti, bacterial, and now yeast and bacterial) She is also very lathargic, and water obsessed. All of which they didn't find abnormal. They suggested an allergy. They just treated the symptoms, didn't believe there was any underlying bigger issue. After her 4th infection didn't clear, we decided it was time to try a new vet.Immediately I was told it's very abnormal for her to have that many complications at her age. They also found she had two separate infections even though she was only being treated/diagnosed for bacterial. The new vet believes she has either a hormonal imbalance or diabetes insipidus. He has a few other ideas that are less likely. Neither of which she was ever tested for at Perington, or even discussed as a possibility.I would suggest them for routine matters but never for anything out of the ordinary. My gut told me some thing was wrong and they kept reassuring me this was normal. I feel guilty that she has spent her whole life ill. Read Less

If I could give 10 stars I would. I have been a loyal client of Perinton Veterinary Hospital since 2013. I have heard of Dr. Scheider's great work through Pitty Love Rescue, as they do work together. My dog Asia Marie is a rescue from Pitty Love, and Perinton Veterinary is their top recommended vet. Upon meeting Dr. S, his friendly approachable nature is welcoming to humans and animals alike. He makes Asia feel comfortable, and is very thorough with his work, explaining everything in full. Dr. S also saved my pup from a cancerous tumor, and now she is cancer free. I even had the pleasure of dealing with Dr. Spring for the first time ever, and she was just fantastic. I'm grateful to have such a great vet! Thank you so much. This Veterinarian Hospital was an absolute awful experience for first time dog owners.  Everything involved in our experience felt like a cash grab from the first appointment to a simple rabies vaccination that required another "exam" for a dog that had just had a first visit exam two weeks prior.  Repeating  original vaccinations already received and the vaccinating the booster when explicitly told not too makes me wish I had done my research to see if they were BBB certified before hand so I could file a dispute.  Steer clear of this business unless you like to be taken advantage of is my advice.  Happily transferring our services to another veterinarian. I brought my kitten named Neville in this morning for his very first visit to the doctor. I'll admit I was probably a little bit more scared than he was. We walked in only to be greeted by a great staff. They were very friendly and helpful. The nurse and doctor were both very friendly and professional. We just love Dr. Spring! Her & the wonderful staff here nursed our 6 week old puppy through a terrible case of parvo, were up front and honest about all of our costs and options, then assisted us in filing a claim with our pet insurance company. I have used Perinton Veterinary Hospital for almost 30 years for 3 dogs and 2 cats.  While the original vet has retired and turned the business over to the new staff, the quality of care my pets have received has been consistently caring and of high quality.  I use their boarding facilities as well. My current dog was a stray we took in and has some behavior issues that I do not trust with just anyone.  They do a wonderful job with him and I never have to worry.  All of the staff at Perinton Vet truly love animals and go above and beyond. After many years of trying to solve my dog Roxie's skin problems, I finally stumbled upon Perinton Vet Hospital. I couldn't have been happier! The staff at PVH is caring, passionate and very helpful and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.When I first met Dr. Scheider, he immediately got on the floor with my dog and hugged and kissed her. It was such a relief to finally find a vet who cared about the animals he was treating, not just doing a job. After every visit (whether it was a annual check up or I needed vet assistance) Dr. Scheider took the time to explain and help me understand what was going on with my dog and always took into account any financial issues because my dog's health problems have not been cheap!It might not be a big deal for many dog owners, but my Roxie is not very animal-friendly and I've never had a problem scheduling late in the evenings when all of the other dogs were gone so I wouldn't run into any unfortunate dog fights. The ladies at the front desk are just as sweet and loving and make it easy for me to schedule or reschedule any appointments, and flexibility is extremely important to me.Lastly, I wouldn't trust any other vet's opinion when it comes to my fur baby's health. She is the love of my life and I put complete trust in Dr. S's hands. I've recommended him to family and friends and want to give PVH a glowing recommendation in this review. Read Less
