I've been through multiple vets in the area, most of whom either lie to me, were extremely lacking in nutritional knowledge, or they wanted to charge me an arm and a leg. The Village Animal Clinic is wonderful. My first visit was with Dr. McCarthy to look at one of my snakes at the time. He is one of the few exotic vets in the area(and the only one I've met with any sort of bed side manner). He was wonderful and compassionate. Told me exactly what I needed, did not try to tack on extras. The total visit I believe was around $120 and that included the exam fee(first time patients, exam fee I believe is $50 and then any time after that it is $45).After that visit I started bringing my senior cat to Dr.Cheever, the other vet on staff. Dr Cheever is phenomenal. Randy, my senior cat, had many many many health issues. Dr Cheever never tried to bleed my wallet dry but at the same time was honest and to the point about what we needed to do. She was always right with her diagnosis. Eventually we had to bring Randy to be put to sleep. Dr.Cheever took us in right away. She cried with me as she put him to sleep and even said a prayer over him, I'm personally not religious, but I was very touched by the sentiment. They also sent me a sympathy card signed by the entire staff, and his pawprint and the rainbow bridge poem. After Randy passed, we adopted a younger cat who ended up having a neurological issue, again, off we went to Dr.Cheever, who was awesome and admitted that unfortunately she wasn't specialized in neurology and referred me to pet neurologist down in Latham(who was also awesome). I really appreciated her honesty instead of what I've experienced with a lot of vets who would have loaded my cat on meds and done unnecessary testing to get more money. Most recently, I have taken my newly adopted greyhound there. I saw Dr.Kristen this time who is the newest vet on staff. She was also very good and thorough. The Village Animal Clinic also does pro bono work for wildlife and other animal rescue organizations. They also refuse to do cosmetic surgeries. For these reasons alone, they will always get my business. Sometimes there is a little bit of a wait time but it's worth it, and the receptionists are very friendly and offer you coffee or soda.Wonderful clinic that really cares about the animals first!
