Having brought my dogs to Dr. McGowan for years I have no clue what Laura Reyes below is talking about. Dr. McGowan and Dr Bruno are fantastic vets who are incredible knowledgeable, capable;le, and very compassionate! I will happily drive a little farther to see them than go to the vets near my home. In addition, I've never had to wait to see the vet, whereas some offices you have an appointment, go in and end up waiting just like at a human Dr. office. They are the most uncaring bunch of people I have ever seen. I ran there begging them for a can of ad food for a ch kitty that I am fostering. I had been going there for years with my animals and my rescue animals. Once I went there with my sphynx cat and her kittens who were my rescue and met them and they got removed all of the wonderful staff that was there I made the decision not to use them. I would never recommend them to any body!!!! Since Dr, Wilder and Dr. Cronin left they became a business not a caring group of people!!!! They are in it for the money and are not owned by vets it is a company that owns them. As far as I am concerned the two vets are two hired hands who know crap about care! Read Less

Originally from LI but currently living out of state, I was home for the easter holiday with my two adorable shih tzus when my Maggie developed an awful cough. Never hearing it before I panicked and spent the morning looking for vets in the area. A majority of them couldnt see her same day, but I am beyond thankful I found westbury animal hospital/ village vets. I contacted them at the suggestion of a friend and not only were they nice, they got me and my pup in for an appt with Dr McGowan that afternoon! Dr. McGowan was super knowledgable and put many of mine and my fiances worries at ease. She not only took care of Maggie's cough, but gave us great suggestions of how to care for Maggies eyes (shes almost completely blind). She spent the extra time with us and you can really tell how much she cares for animals. It's been exactly a week since we were there and Maggie's cough is almost gone! The only disappointment- they arent closer to where I live currently! They will for sure be my go to vet if I ever need anything while visiting Long Island in the future. Dr. McGowan is amazingly awesome I know her best but Dr. Bruno I also know how what I know of her she is equally awesome. Dr. Gallant and Dr. Bruno both have proven to me that they truly care about the animals they care for they recognize that our pets are family members. They do not put animals through procedures and treatments they do not need just for the sake of making money. They do what is medically necessary to keep our family members healthy and active and living quality lives there aren't enough words to tell people how much I respect and like Dr. McGowan and Dr. Buno not only as vets but for the people they are and the values they hold. I never thought I would leave that Animal hospital I have used for many years but when I heard Dr. McGowan moved I knew in my heart I had to follow her I knew it was best for lady and myself being where Dr. McGown is gives me peace of mind. If you're looking for that for the first time or considering changing to a new one in my experience making the move to Westberry Animal Hospital would be a great decision. All kidding aside - Every person on staff at Westbury Animal hospital is very nice, and Dr. Wilder is especially kind and pleasant - in addition to being an excellent veterinarian! worst vet i have ever visited. cats went in health for annual checkup and came home infested with fleas. went back for help and was dismissed and sold grossly overpriced medication that i could have bought on amazon for a fraction of the price. i won't patronize a doctor who does not care about my pets or me as a customer. i'm very displeased and will not return to this place. My family and I have been using Dr. Wilder and his terrific staff for over 25 years and over 5 pets. Drs. Wilder and Cronin have been there for the puppy years though the senior years. They have offered kindness, compassion and top notch medical care at all times. This was especially evident when end of life issues of a family pet were encountered or a medical emeregency arose. I had loved my vet of 10 years, but when my five year-old poodle suddenly became ill, my vet did not seem to know how to treat her. He ran a lot of tests and my dog was hospitalized a few times, but the bloody diarrhea kept recurring and my old vet was suggesting surgery. Fortunately, I found Dr. Wilder. Dr. Wilder listened to the whole history (at this point I had two months of notes!), reviewed all of the test data and suggested a new medication and a change of diet. My dog gradually got better, with fewer attacks for about two months, until the attacks finally ended and she is now completely healthy. I credit Dr. Wilder with being willing to try the newest things but also with frequently checking in on my dog, listening carefully and demonstrating a degree of concern that was amazing. Read Less
