This is a review that I've been meaning to post for quite a long time now. I cannot say enough good things about the Animal Hospital of White Plains. I've been bringing my animals to them for years now and I have absolutely no complaints. Dr. Tarasoff is one of the kindest, most gentle and compassionate souls I have ever been fortunate enough to come across. Her kindness is matched only by her incredible expertise. The staff is equally as kind. Everyone who is there has found their calling and truly loves what they do. These doctors have saved my rescue dogs more than once! This is the place to take your four legged family member. The vets are smart, explain everything, and take their own call after hours--they treat your pet like their own!.The staff is amazing too. No one cares more than these people. Read Less

I have moved around a lot and visited a number of vets along the way. This animal hospital is really top notch! The staff is so caring and professional. They stay in the room with you and perform bloodwork/administer shots with you right there so you can see how they treat your pet. Other facilities I have visited take your pet to the back so you can't watch. It says a lot that they are so transparent. Everyone on staff is very helpful and compassionate and I can always get an appointment when I need one. Also, they are reasonably priced. I feel bad it has taken so long to write this review because the team at Animal Hospital of White Plains is superb and deserves to be commended.  We recently moved out of state but I just needed to let everyone else in Westchester looking for a vet that goes above and beyond and can be completely trusted with your pet that this is the place.We were clients here for 5 or 6 years for our two boxers Bongo and Zapp, and our cat Gizmo.  The care those animals received, especially the dogs who have had some complications, was simply tremendous.  Every member of the team makes you and your pet feel welcome right away, and they really care about the wellbeing of your animal.  They don't rush you through exams or visits, they really take the time to listen to you (and your animal, in a way), explain everything that's going on, and make a plan for the wellbeing of your pets.  Our older boxer suffered two separate, unrelated cancer fights, and Dr. Tarasoff worked tirelessly to provide the information we needed and always be a pillar of support.  She even gave us her personal cell number when he was going through his roughest patches if we had questions or concerns at any hour.  Dr. Tarasoff's surgery to remove a tumor in his leg without a doubt gave our dog another two years to live, be active and happy, and run.  When he eventually passed, the outpouring of love and support from the entire hospital was just amazing.These people really care about your animal.I'd be remiss if I didn't give special thanks to Cisco, Liz, and Erin for their particular warmth and helpfulness.  But I don't want to leave any of the other assistants at the hospital out, because there was simply not a single one of them that didn't come out to say hi to our animals, chat with us, and take really good care of the animals when they weren't feeling well.  I have moved a handful of times and gone through a lot of vets, this is truly a special team and I wish I could have taken them with me when we moved. This is my first Yelp review because I need to acknowledge the care provided by the staff at the Animal Hospital of White Plains.Dr Tarasoff and Dr Lagana are compassionate and personable veterinarians.  For the initial checkup, I met Dr Tarasoff who was friendly and kind.  I was blown away at the personal attention she gave my cat, Eva.I brought Eva in the second time because she was suddenly very sick.  I was pretty nervous, but Dr Lagana and assistant Audrey were attentive and understanding.  I really appreciate the gentle manner in which they handled her.  They provided me with great tips on caring for her.You can tell the entire staff here is passionate about animals and everyone there was very helpful. Dr. Tarasoff and Dr. Lagana are phenominal. We recently had to put one of our cats down, but both of the doctors were very caring, thorough, and sympathetic throughout the process. I'd absolutely recommend the practice to anyone seeking care for their pets. Read Less

Fine medical care, great bedside manner, and really treat every animal as both a loyal friend and truly like a patient. They really show their professional and sweet side. The staff is quite kind. Dr. Sandy Tarasoff is my cat's doctor. She is sweet to him, gives great care, speaks and I feel (*a tad for fun*) she speaks to both of us like he understands her. The doctors are knowledgeable, have great bedside manner, show genuine concern for each patient whether regular check ups or concerns with your favorite animal family member. The good doctors will even call you back for questions perhaps saving you a visit. They know a good owner is one who hasn't done the "Wed MD" self-diagnosis on their pets. Also their technicians/house staff are very caring in cleaning any furry friend who may have soiled the carrier in nervousness and themselves. While our three cats have been patients here for many years, for the second time Dr. Maria Lagana has been instrumental in the treatment of a feral stray we care for as well. I was finally able to catch him and Dr. Lagana saw him immediately. She bravely gave him a thorough exam and he was treated for the issues she discovered. With an upcoming severe cold weather warning, she insisted he stay in her care until the temperature warmed. I was able to visit him every day. We are so very grateful to Dr. Lagana for her expertise and willingness to care for an animal in need. This is the second time she has administered aid. We had one other truly feral cat that we cared for for many years. He showed up one day with severe injuries as well as a broken leg. She fixed him up and kept him there while the leg healed. It's nice to know Dr. Lagana and her partner care for all animals, not just house pets. We are also grateful for some consideration when it came to the bill. I would never ask when it comes to our indoor pets but will be happy when I can save some money on the animals that were dumped on us. A special thanks to assistant Liz. I owe my dog's life to Dr. Tarasoff and Dr. Lagana and the entire team of Animal Hospital of W.P. I have a Siberian husky and while my husband and I were at work our husky got into a box of gum and ate it all. He was intoxicated and would have died if it wasn't for their hospital. My husky was back to normal after being in their care for 24 hours. I really owe them his life! Thank you!!!!! this hospital is well trusted! Read Less

Since getting my first pet last year, this is actually the only vet office/animal clinic I have ever known. I have nothing else to compare it to, but the four or five times I've been here, I've had a pleasant visit every single time. The staff is friendly and clearly cares about their four-legged patients.The place is clean and in good shape, and very affordable. I've interacted with Dr. Maria Lagana on several visits and the other vet (I think it was Dr. Sandy Tarasoff) just once--and they were both pleasant, informative, and super-sweet to my dog. The wait times have been pretty minimal; my appointments are usually mid-week, in the late afternoon or early evening. So far, so good! Read Less

Dr. Lagana brought my dear cat back from a very fragile and dire place. She brought compassion, warmth, and expertise and gave me good sound advice. Ultimately my cat is doing great but I feel that she saved his life.Read Less

Dr Lagana is rude and condescending. She told me she had already spent enough time on the phone with me, even though it had been 10 minutes. Then she fired me for wanting clarification on a change in treatment. Do NOT bring your beloved pets to her. Dr Tarasoff is lovely, it's unfortunate she's not in practice alone.Read Less

Animal Hospital of White Plains - Dr. Sandy Tarasoff.I'm specifically writing this review for Dr. Tarasoff and most of her office staff that i've met - Dr. Tarasoff is the best veterinarian i have met till now. i've had dogs and cats as pets and in turn met and worked with quite a few vets, but Sandy Tarasoff is the best among them all. not only has she accurately diagnosed ailments for my pets, and treated them with correct/precise therapies, she has also made herself patiently available for ALL my questions and informal advice i've needed for my pets. I've only taken our cat here once for a check up, but the experience was very good! The staff was caring and professional- my cat gets extremely panicked at the vet and has needed to be sedated in the past, but the staff handled her very well. The vet's assistant was so funny and caring, talking to Ginny and trying to keep her calm. I'm very glad that there is an affordable, caring vet so close to us! Read Less

This is the best place to take your beloved pet. Dr Lagana saved my dog's life. She even stayed after hours and drove back to the animal hospital to check on him. She really loves all of her patients. Plus, she is so intelligent. Dr. Tarasoff is also excellent. Read Less

This is the best animal hospital, bar none. We have been bringing our cats, Baxter and Bernice, here since they were only 4 weeks old after finding them abandoned. Dr. Sandy Tarasoff is beyond amazing, and her professional and compassionate nature ARE the reason we have made this our animal hospital. She treats our cats as if they were her own, and the concern and caring she shows with each visit never ceases to amaze us. Appointments are easy to schedule due to their flexibility and wonderful staff-Liz, Debbie, and Lisa to name a few. It is a relief and blessing to know that our cats are getting the level of care they receive at the Animal Hospital of White Plains, and we recommend this establishment to ALL who are looking for the best! This animal hospital is great.  I really like Dr. Tarasoff.  If you go, request an appt with her.  I do not care for the other doctor so much and I understand quite a few people feel the same.  The staff is great.  The prices are what you'd pay anywhere in the area. Read Less

Staff is very caring and professional.  Dr. Tarasoff is always upbeat even when my cat behaves...well like a cat going to the vet. She takes the time to explain everything and we (April and I) leave knowing what to do next. April had to have extensive dental work done due to her life as a stray/shelter cat. The staff were all very warm and courteous. We brought our dog here after he began limping this morning, seemingly out of nowhere. They squeezed us in right away and we were in and out in less than an hour. They offered a few possible diagnoses, explained which tests were necessary and performed them. Our dog required medication, which they had on-hand, and the prices were reasonable. The basic exam ran $58, which is about on-par based on our other experiences at local vets. There is a duplicate review for this place, both one-stars, which bring down the overall average, though I would disregard them. If you are concerned about "unrequested services," simply clarify with the personnel at the clinic. I believe the doctor was rather clear about the procedures she was going to perform and while she didn't mention a price, we weren't too concerned since none of the procedures seemed unnecessary. I'm absolutely certain that if we had asked about costs, they would have broken that down for us. Overall, our experience was great and I would encourage anyone to visit this clinic. Read Less

We scheduled an appointment to get our dog a shot. Our au pair brought the dog in and in addition to the shot the vet performed an unrequested check up even though the vet had performed a check up less than seven months prior. When my wife complained the vet informed her that the reservation we had made to board our dog at Animal Hospital would not be honored. The vet only returned my wife's call after a week and a follow up message from my wife and a visit to the office by my wife. Read Less
