We moved here from Ohio last year. We are more picky about our vets than our own Drs. :) We have three dogs and four cats. They have all been in to see the Drs at Meadow and have received great care. Our oldest dog, Hayley, has had two teeth extracted and our youngest dog, Petunia, was having problems walking. Dr Mendez spent a whole day working with Petunia to figure out what was going on. I starting bringing my dog to Dr. Mendez about a year and a half ago based off of her excellent reviews; however, she did not diagnose my dog correctly at all. A few weeks ago my dog was making an odd sound (sounded like he had a lot of phlegm) and couldnt breathe right. He seemed so uncomfortable and overall not well at all. We brought him in and she stated that she never heard this sound before and was not sure what was wrong. So, she decided to just give him an antibiotic in hopes it would help. The medicine did nothing and he continued to suffer, keeping us up at night because of the noises he was making and because he needed comfort. Finally I decided enough was enough and brought him to another vet. The new vet that I brought him to (not at Meadow Vet) knew exactly what was wrong. Quickly took an x-ray found that his lungs were completely filled with water (hence the phlegm sounds) and that his heart was 80% enlarged. He has congestive heart failure. Something that I would think is pretty common! He also clearly had heart disease which led to congestive heart failure (something that Dr. Mendez also did not pick up on). He was given a shot to help release the water in his lungs and two heart medications that he will need for the rest of his life. The next morning he was a new dog! No more sounds and back to his happy self. He would have died had I not brought him somewhere else. As nice and sweet as Dr. Mendez is, she did not try to help my dog. If she didnt know what was wrong she should have asked the other vets in her office or at least attempt to help not just give him some medicine and hope for the best. I do not think she is very knowledgeable at her job. Very disappointed and would never recommend her but grateful that my dog is in better hands now.Read Less

The most compassionate and caring doctors and staff that one would ever pray to have for their pets;  I have been to Meadow for 15 years with all of my pets and the compassion, love and genuine caring that they showed when my beloved Snoopy passed made such an overwhelming diffrrence for my family;  I will always remember Doctor Mendez and her incredible front desk and technicians who helped us say goodbye to my best friend, Snoopy.  I  love him so much that I would only allow an amazing physician to care for him.....and she did.....as if he were her own.  Dr Mendez, I will always remember my final moments with Snoopy, with my family and yours at our side..I am eternally grateful. We have been visiting the Meadow for the past 15 years with our first and only family pet. The doctors and staff have been wonderful- they are very patient with any questions you may have (especially with my parents who always had a million questions!), they are attentive your pets' needs, and always work with you to find the best possible treatment. What I truly appreciate is that the doctors never force any treatment or procedure, but rather present you with all the options available to help you to make an educated decision. I've been going to Meadow Vet for many years and I think they are great! I, up until recently, had 3 dogs, so we make many visits there. The doctors, technicians, assistants and the entire staff is beyond compassionate, gentle, and clearly love pets. They go above and beyond the necessary to make all feel at ease. They are smart, attentive, caring, warm, to both pets and pet owners. They recently helped us put our older dog to sleep and it was done in the most humane, dignified, sensitive way possible. Truly the best of the best! I have a 9-yr-old boxer who in the past used to be TERRIFIED of going to the vet, but ever since we switched over to Meadow Veterinary Hospital his worries disappeared. He literally gets so excited and pulls me into the clinic, haha. All of their veterinarians and assisting staff are extremely helpful and knowledgable and really care about their clients. When my dog was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor last year they went above and beyond to help my dog during his surgery and recovery, and later made recommendations to follow-up with Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers. If you're looking for a veterinary hospital that you can trust to take care of your furry family members then this is the place! Also a tip, Meadow Veterinary Hospital offers grooming services! They also offer boarding services, but I believe your pet has to weigh less than ~40-45 lbs.(?). My 60 lb. guy didn't make the cut, haha. Read Less

I sent my dog for grooming to Meadow Veterinary Hospital. Meadow Hospital claims to have a very experienced groomer on site. My dog came out with a patch of skin shaved off under his left ear. Two days later, the patch under my dogs ear was infected and covered with pus. After our complaints, the hospital offered to show the dog to one of their vets. After the vet examination, the hospital started arguing that the infection was unrelated to grooming and presented us with a 250 US bill, and said they would not give our dog back if we did not foot the bill. Overall, we paid 330 US for pet grooming and got a dog back with an infected ear!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED. There are many other professional options in Westchester. Read Less

I've been taking my cats to Meadow Veterinary since Dr. Meadow was actually there.  He retired several years ago, but gradually brought in Dr. Twedt and others, who provide excellent care for their patients.  They've kept my cats up to date on their vaccinations, recommended changes to their diets as they've aged (the cats, not the drs), and in no small part with their help i've had over 13 years with my cats and look forwad to several more.
