Laura (and I assume Zoey is a friend you recruited as she did not appear to have any pet with them), I have a few questions, the story does not add up. First: The clinic is .7 miles from I85 down Main street in Archdale. This terrified dog made it that far down a busy 4 lane road to I85. Second: If he was so terrified how did he ever cross I85? The only way for him to have gotten hit as you describe was to cross over and then you called him back? Third: If you were ten feet from him when he got hit you were in the highway (highway lanes are over 10 feet wide, 10.7 to be exact) or right next to it so your were feet from the car that hit him? Just seems a little out there when you layout what you said. Fourth: Why have another person with no direct knowledge rehash for another bad review? Just makes it look more like petty than anything. I have known Dr Ayers for decades (literally) he has treated my dogs, my parents dogs, my sisters dogs, and countless friends and have nothing but the upmost respect for him and his practice. It is a shame when reviews become more of a personal vendetta than useful. Read Less

I've be taking all my furry children here for years and have no intentions of stopping. They have been with us for both brand new puppies and kittens as well as the loss of one of our animals. The staff is amazingly compassionate, and unlike other veterinarians I have been to they have never once pressured me into unnecessary or expensive tests and procedures. While the office is busy, I love that there's no questions asked if I need to come in on short notice, and everyone there knows your name as soon as you walk in. That small town feeling is hard to find these days. The rest of my family brings their animals here as well, and I recommend them to anyone who asks. For me, it's absolutely worth driving past closer offices to get the kind of wonderful treatment that I get from Archdale animal clinic. Read Less

I have worked with animals for years, actually owning a pet service company like yourselves. First, the number one rule is to take care of a client's pet(s) like they are your own children. It is common sense to always double check everything before taking a pet outside, so I fail to understand how any pup/pet could "escape." Was the gate open? Did the sitter fail to put his leash on? What happened that you aren't mentioning? Animals just don't escape unless something was left open. Secondly, in our line of work it is without question, to immediately notify an owner if their pet were lost, and then our responsibility is to do everything in our power to find them. I'm not saying I haven't made mistakes, but I made one in this field of work...and you know what? I would have looked all night for that dog, AFTER informing the owners of my mistake. I wouldn't have stopped looking! So I'm not quite sure how you all could just go home to your family and pets while an innocent, small dog is out lost and scared, under your own care....let alone their family wasn't informed. Thirdly, there should never come a time where any  client should have to watch their dog die in front of their own eyes; to have to see your own pet get hit buy a car and then pick him up off of a highway (risking your own life as well), is just inexplicable. As a pet business owner, you all should be ashamed of yourselves. Read Less

AAC & Dr. Ayer each deserve 5 stars! We just recently moved to NC from NYC, and unfortunately in NYC we were barely making even. So when I brought my baby boy (6yr old Collie Mix) to AAC he was long overdue his yearly vaccinations. Dr. Ayer was the vet we saw. He didn't give us any lectures, and was extremely up front and to the point which anyone who has a dog as part of your family should know is very important from a vet. They didn't try to get us to do any unnecessary procedures or tests, unfortunately my boy ended up having Whip worm and Dr. Ayer was so great about explaining everything to us! I was really upset bc I had never had a dog develop anything more serious than an ear infection and Dr. Ayer was able to make me and my fiancé feel like we weren't monsters and told us that between the test and since our boy hadn't been showing any symptoms yet that it was not an infestation and he wasn't suffering physically. He really helped put my mind at ease and explained to us how to avoid further infection in the future, as well as thoroughly explained how the medication would work, as well as how the different types of worms were gotten. And the best part of all? My baby also loved the vet! Me, my fiancé and my boy all loved Dr. Ayer! I will be making all my appointments with AAC in the future and I will be hoping I see Dr. Ayer as well. Thank you AAC, and thank you Dr. Ayer! See you in 3 months! Read Less

I am going out of my way to write this review. This is something I do not do. I did feel the need to reciprocate and let everyone know how impressed I was with Archdale Animal Clinic, the staff, and especially Dr Avery. My Golden had a bad tumor which we suspected to be cancerous. I brought him in to see Dr Avery and we discussed the truth about his chances and the fact that I did not have the resources to spend lots of money, especially if he was doomed. The tumor got bad and needed to be removed in order to improve Boars quality of life. AAC performed the surgery for a very reasonable fee. Unfortunately Boar developed more tumors before the stitches were taken out from the surgery. This did not look good. Dr Avery was honest and upfront about this. He suggested if we were going to remove this tumor we should do it quick but with the speed of growth and lack of ability to get good margins the outcome does not look good. I decided to not do the surgery and in less than a few weeks Boar deteriorated to the point I felt it was time to put him down. I spent the day with Boar to make sure it was time, and it was. We had him euthanized at AAC. They did not charge me. I was blown away by the kindness and compassion Dr Avery and the staff showed me. I did not expect this. In addition Dr Avery sent me a card letting me know I did the correct thing. He knew I was conflicted about it and that I was wrestling with the idea of doing more for my animal before putting him down. I was very impressed by the way that in today's medical environment, we were able to have a human interaction and that it is not all about money (although everyone does deserve to be compensated for their work). All I wanted during the whole ordeal with Boar was to deal with a Vet that would shoot me straight and not look to take advantage of a situation. I found that with Dr Avery. I will bring my other animal to them from now on and would recommend that anyone who want to deal with a more than fair Vet to consider taking your animals here as well. In close I would like to say thank you again to Dr. Avery and the Staff. You were all amazing and made this otherwise sad situation into a positive. Thanks.Read Less

The staff and owner would rather not get sued than do what is best for the animal. Had a dying kitten that he refused to put to sleep because "he wanted to watch it" It "wasn't on death's door". I took the cat back and it did die an hour later. It suffocated on it's own blood. Everyone should stay far away from this clinic. He and his vet tech should lose their license to practice medicine since they have no problem ignoring the oath they took. Read Less
