Our dog had surgery there on Tuesday and since she has not used the bathroom and will not eat and keeps crying because she is in pain. They did not give her anything for pain the day she had surgery so I took her back today and I must say I can't speak about every employee there but doctor brown and one of his nurses where very rude, unprofessional, and they were even arguing with each other in front of us. Not gonna say any names but the nurse that helped him should not be employed there if she can't have a better attitude than that! Point is I will take my dog somewhere else next time! Would not recommend this place to anyone I just had the worst experience of my life with them and I have taking my dogs there for years well not anymore, Dr brown is one rude man and dose not need to be a vet. I took my puppy out there yesterday because she became very sick at first the dr didn't think she was gonna make it but when we called throughout the day she was improving, but they wanted to keep her over night to make sure we'll this morning I call out there thinking I can go pick my dog up and no they tell me she passed during the night but no one brotherd to call me when they opened saying that she had passed they waited for me to call and then when I go to pick up I started questioning why I was not called the lady up front told me and she didn't understand why I was upset and told me that she didn't care and told me I had to pay them before they would give me my dog. So after a the things I have heard about this man and his bussiness I will NOT be taking any more of my aniamls out there to him.Read Less

Please, Please don't take your pet here. I knew better, but she was taken here anyway. She was supposed to get shots, and shots only. But he put EnteDerm in her ears, and she has not heard anything since. It has been over a month. I took her to another Vet, and they said there was nothing they could do. The damage has all ready been done. My dog has gone from being playful and full of life, to a scared little dog. She is scared because she can't hear anything. She thinks we no longer talk to her and she doesn't understand. I had stopped using Seagrove Animal Hospital because of a past experience, but I thought they couldn't mess up, with just giving her yearly shots. WRONG!!! PLEASE DON'T USE THIS VET!! There is a small chance her hearing will return, but at this point it's a very small chance. UPDATE: It has now been 10 weeks since my dog lost her hearing due to Dr. Brown putting EnteDerm in her ears.....She still can't hear. She hears loud clapping or a hammer, but very little else. And to top it all off, when I took her to another Vet they couldn't find anything wrong with her ears to even need the EnteDerm. He charged 15$ for a 4.99$ tube of medicine that made my dog deaf in less than 8 hours. Read Less

This man has taken care of our animal many times. Daisy our dog has a cut on the inside of her leg. We got to Seagrove Animal Hospital and we got her back in the examining room. We showed Cecil Brown where the cut was and he started looking at the wrong place on here leg.. We had to show him again and he Hollered at me and said he knew where it was .. When he started wrapping her paw he didn't have the bandage in the right place. He walk off and got some more stuff to wrap her paw because he didn't get enough the first time.. When he came back into the room i was trying to contain Daisy our hound dog .. He told me if We would SHUT THE HELL UP HE WOULD TAKE CARE OF HER.... When he got her paw wrapped he said he would have to keep her for the blood to clot.. He knows that she has a heart problem and said to us in earlier visits that in no way should this dog be put to sleep at her age and her health problems.. So before we left he told his wife Betty Brown that he was going to have to put her to sleep to fix the paw.. Not taking in to consideration of what he had said earlier. He never looked at her chart to asses the way to go with the dog.. They were all about going to lunch.. Even to his wife said we have to go eat lunch she never even pulled the chats either.. We left the dog there and they went to lunch and we called their Vet tech after they left.. She confirmed everythiing i was saying about his RUDE behavior to his clients.. He can't ever remember your face and who he is talking too. Let alone do surgery on any animal.. So after they got back from lunch the vet tech told them what we had said.. After lunch we got a call to come and get our dog he had no other solution to the problem wit our dog .. I would Never take any animal this vet ever again. He need to retire and let someone take over . The vet tech said to me on the phone that they put up with it ever day ..Read Less

I had a horrible experience with my smaller dog. She went in for bloody stools and he gave her a shot of antibiotics and two oral medicines to help without telling me what they were, how they would help or what the side effects would be. I like to know what's going on with my pets and they never tell you what they're doing or ask if it's okay. She also got updated on her rabies and parvo vaccines. Later that day she started vomiting and wouldn't stop for the rest of the night. I took her to an emergency vet and they gave her some fluids, cirenia for nausea, and benadryl in case she was having an allergic reaction to the vaccines. They did tell me all the possibilities for why she was throwing up and let me know what each medicine they gave me would do. They told me to follow up with my regular vet the next day because it could have something to do with her stomach issues and that they should do some blood work. So I take her back to Dr. Brown the next day, explain everything and he gives her a shot. Luckily the vet tech explained that was an antibiotic because he didn't let me know whatvit was or what he thought was wrong. He then said lets give her some cirenia for nausea in which the vet tech says she already had some (and it last for 24 hours). He says lets give her some more. My dog is all of 5 pounds and has now had two shots of antibiotics, a rabies vaccine and a parvo vaccine, cirenia about 10 hours ago, fluids, and benadryl. The LAST thing I want is to pump her full of stuff she doesn't need. I explain that I do not want her to have more cirenia because she just got some and that vet told me it last 24 hours. He gets angry and declares "well fine don't listen to me, listen to them." and I try to explain that I don't feel comfortable giving my dog so many medicines all at once. He then tells me to just take my dog and leave. HOW RUDE!! If someone is uncomfortable with a procedure the vet wants to do, don't yell at them for it. He could have simply explained why he thought it would be best, what he thought was wrong and how it would help, or he could have simply respected my wish to withold that medicine. I am extremely upset with their customer service and the way I was treated. The only decent thing about this vet is that the cost is very affordable and cheap. Read Less

This vet needs to retire! He's a miserable old soul! Very rude and the last of his concern is for the care of animals. I'm not sure why he is still doing it. I don't understand how he has clients! His staff has to put up with him and half of them are the same. He refused treatment for an emergency because the owners were unable to take him. A credit card was going to be given by the owners over the phone but they would not allow me to use their phone to make a local call. I could not use my phone in their building. When I stepped out to call, he told me to leave and not come back. Told me he wasn't going to treat a dog that wasn't his patient. Refused any treatment and kicked us out. Really? Wow! Today I took my 8 week old sweet baby kitten to his office. I have been to vets before with great service and kind vet techs, as well as a kind doctor. We walk in, went straight back after checking in, and that's where the madness began. He took the kitten back, did a checkup, then went to give him the vaccine. He had his assistant hold the kitten, then he went to inject him and completely over shot the needle, inserting it into his skin, then exiting out of the other side, shooting all of the vaccine onto the table. He then mumbles under his breath and THROWS THE SYRINGE INTO THE SINK! I turned to my dad and said "did you just see that? This man is crazy. We are not coming back here!!" He then gets another syringe for the vaccine, trying to inject it again and misses once again, but does not inject this time, and immediately reinserts the needle again, this time getting it into the skin. By this time, I was so traumatized and was ready to go, they gave him some dewormer and as we were checking out, he says "I'll have to give him another one in two weeks" and I was thinking in my mind "ha you're crazy, I'm not bringing him back here!!" Flash forward two hours and here we are back at home and my kitten is in so much pain that he can't even find a comfortable place to lay down. He has been so loving the last 8 weeks, and now he doesn't even want to be touched. I just feel so bad for even taking him to this man after reading all of these bad reviews!!!!! Read Less

The absolute worse vet I have ever been too. Years ago he was actually decent. Now he is just an old, spiteful bad mannered man that needs to retire. We had two dogs die, within days of each other. One a puppy and the other full grown. When a third dog became sick we took him to dr brown because he was our normal vet. He kept the dog all day, told us that he ran test even though we found out later that he didn't. Charged us for the "test" and sent our dog home later that day. Our dog ended up dying 2 days later. There is no excuse for this. This man should be put out of business. I will never take another animal to him and i highly recommended not taking any animal you care about to him.Read Less

I have taken several animals to Dr. Brown, even when he worked at Randolph Animal Hospital before the ownership changed. Yes, I will agree that Dr. Brown is rough around the edges but he is still clearly dedicated to his work and caring for the animals. I had a dog a few years ago that he had helped on several occasions, from heartworms to 2 events of potential rat poisonings, he was able to save my dog every time. When my dog reached the age of 15, he became blind and very arthritic. I decided one time to take him in and have him euthanized but Dr. Brown checked him out, performed a bloodwork panel and X-rays. He determined he had an enlarged liver and decreased kidney function but he told me to take him back home that we could still get at least a few more months out of him. After aiding my dog throughout that time easing him out of the car, taking him on several more enjoyable car rides, he was nearing the age of 16 and we could still his appetite was going away. His hair was beginning to thin and we knew that it is getting to be time to say goodbye to him. We then reluctantly returned him back to Dr. Brown, that's when Dr. Brown's true compassion for animals truly kicked in. He and his staff was excellent in helping me say goodbye to my longtime friend. After a few days, I even received an unexpected sympathy card with a beautiful poem on it signed to us. Apparently Dr. Brown and his staff knew just how much my dog meant to me when I completely broke down, a 30-year old man who had his dog since the start of high school sobbing like a child as they helped carry him into my truck. Yes, I stand behind Dr. Brown, it's just a shame that we don't have that many other vets that have stayed in the profession as hard as he as with that much experience behind them. Read Less

I read the reviews before I went here. I took my pup for a routine shots and a check up. Dr brown was quiet but no one was rude to me, the dr was careful in telling me how to give the dewormer I got, went over it twice and then reiterated before I left. The girls there were neither rude nor friendly, they didn't speak much, but I didn't go there to make friends. Dr brown mostly spoke to me and he made me feel as if he cared, because (in my opinion) I told him how fabulous my pup was and how hard I try to take care of my pup( whom has long floppy ears which are prone to infection). I will def go back there. I think his age is a benefit to the fact that he knows what he's doing. For example, other dr would tell me to purchase this $12 solution to clean my baby's ears. Dr brown told me what to use, which is less than a dollar in the store. (And, I already did research myself on that topic so I knew he was right). i told the dr I had read these reviews but I don't take a whole lot of weight from an individual whom can't spell correctly. I absolutely don't understand some of these negative reviews. I've been taking my pets to Dr. Brown for a number of years now, and I've never heard him threaten his staff or seen him hit or abuse any animal. That claim sounds outrageous and just plain spiteful. He certainly doesn't hate cats, as one reviewer wrote. I have a lot of cats, and he treats each of them very well. I've never been yelled at, scolded, nor heard the staff or the vet yell at any customer. My dogs have been treated kindly and quickly for any problems, and I've always gotten an estimate of what the cost of treatment and surgery would be. I have no qualms about endorsing Seagrove Animal Hospital. If you want to be mollycoddled, hugged, and treated like royalty, go elsewhere. But if you want a competent vet with decades of experience, plenty of compassion, and a willingness to do whatever it takes for the animals, then go to Dr. Brown. Read Less

They don't even deserve a star! This post is meant to save others from the heartache this man and his rude condescending staff will put you through should you choose to take your furry family member there. Everyone there should learn what the word compassion means and recite the definition daily to remind themselves. We took our beloved cat there after being gone for 2 days yesterday (Wed) knowing they close at 12 for an evaluation as we thought it would be better to be safe than sorry. There were no visible wounds. Dr. Brown is very gruff as is his staff (I think learned behavior from him) and did not look at my cat 3 minutes before wanting to know her temperature and then proceeded to tell us only to leave her there overnight for fluids. I asked if we gave her enough time to bounce back as it had only been 10 hours and he yelled at me "Yes you gave her enough time". My husband retired military officer tried to ask it another way and he replied in what I perceived as a smart tone" Yes I need to keep her you have a sick kitty check on her in the morning!". Sick is a very relative term to many~ there is virus sick and there is potentially deathly sick! His only reply when we would ask ANYTHING "Check back in the morning". 18 hrs later phone call from rude staff member to say "kitty was dead". Only explanation~programmed to say "she was a sick kitty". When our family went to pick up her remains I expressed to the staff that they should be more compassionate as these are family members we are entrusting them with. She yelled at me "Your cat was gone for 2 days and I have 4 animals!" and called for Dr. Brown to come. He immediately started yelling at me and pointing his finger in my face and telling us to leave. Glad he doesn't need our business anymore since we have two other cats! Lastly when I asked the lady her name if you want to call her that at first she didn't reply and I said "I guess you don't want me to know that" she said it's at the bottom of the paper if you can read! I won't stoop that low to call her out. NEVER ONE HUG OR I'M SORRY. I went up the road to get a cement figure from one of the pottery shops here in town and the first thing that lady a complete stranger said was I'm sorry and gave me a bear hug which is what one would expect from a friendly little town like Seagrove. End result is Dr. Brown had no idea what happened to my Cuddles~ not even a speculation as to what may have happened. This is what we paid him for?????? Read Less

One of the worst experiences of my life. The last time I took my dog there he tried to take her temperature (she wasn't squirming or misbehaving at all) and he forcefully shoved a thermometer up her back end. She contorted her body and face in ways that still disturb me and she was screaming until the pain was so unbearable she stopped. I was shaking and in tears while this happened, since I was in the room. All Dr. Cecil Brown said was what are you crying for I didn't do anything. When he left the nurse who held my dog said that he constantly mistreats animals. I switched to a new vet, the one in Asheboro, I went there today and the experience was better for both me and my dog! However, it still does stress me out to take my dog to the vet though. I called Cecil's office today and thankfully he, himself picked up and I told him I didn't want their services anymore and to please stop sending me mail. (even though I'd already told him I wasn't coming back). He asked me what I didn't like and I told him about my experience never once calling him a name or cursing at him, just giving him all my evidence as to why I was NEVER going back there. When I told him the bit about what his nurse told me he called me stupid and said that I was a liar. I'm neither of those things. Why would I make that up? It doesn't benefit me at all. He told me to never bring my animals back and I told him I wouldn't dare. Besides that being the ONLY reason why I called their office. I really hate that place. A lot.....Don't take your animals there!!! It'd be a big mistake....Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Dr. Brown is a jerk and him and his team of nurses need to buy a personality and learn what compassion is. I was slapped with a $63 bill when I was told it would cost $18. He's rough and quick treating my dog, and speaks to people like they're garbage. He argued with me over the phone &didn't take responsibility for the wrong info I was given. He was so disrespectful. The old dinosaur needs to retire bcuz he doesn't know what he's doing &won't tell you how to care for your sick pet at all. I will never go here again for ANYTHING. I won't even let my dog take a dump in their grass.

I took my cat to dr Brown after he had been in intensive care over the weekend as my regular vet was closed. This jerk refused to even look at the paperwork, said he didn't take other vets problems.he just kept repeating it over and over. His nurse looked humiliated because had told me my cat would be taken. The cat was on a catheter that I couldn't remove and it needed to come out. he didn't care one bit that my cat was very sick. He told me to go home that he would be fine.really? How would he know. He never even looked at the paper work from the er. Dr.Brown needs to retire because he is useless and doesn't give a flip about people or animals.ps he doesn't deserve the one star. Read Less

My stepfather's family has used Dr. Brown for years. My dog recently had emergency surgery for a stomach issue. The staff and Dr. Brown treated our lab like she was their own. They were thorough, efficient, and very compassionate. On top of that, his prices were incredibly fair! My husband and I were pleasantly surprised when we received the bill. We were very lucky to have his services and, thank goodness, our lab is back at home and recovering well! Read Less
