Very knowledgeable. I had carried my rescue dog to the rescue vet because of lost hair spots and spay they told me it was a Fungus. After treating her with fungal shampoo and other meds she didn't get any better, I decided to take her to my own Vet which was Margaret Anderson and she diagnosed the dog or having demodectic mange. she put in place a treatment for my dog and at the same time diagnosed her with a ear infection and treated her for that. Dr. Anderson takes her time and will get to the bottom of the problem Read Less

Walked inside and we weren’t acknowledged nor talked to. When we signed papers we asked to speak with doctor, doctor told us on the phone come in between 8-9 we got there at 8:15 so after that they didn’t come out of the back rooms and there was no one to be found at the desk they chatted with each other let alone the doctor was still not there and it was 9:00. We were there for over an hour they wanted us to drop off our dog and throw her in a kannel im sure until the doctor decided to show up at the time she gave us. So we left also the front desk ladies were NOT professional AT ALL. Hoodies, jeans, and piercings on her face. Would not recommend very terrible customer service. Read Less

My pet was euthanized here. The price was extremely reasonable, but the care left something to be desired. I'm sure the staff is very friendly, but attempting small talk during the end of a family member's life felt very tone deaf. We had never been there before, so awkwardness is probably expected, but as a veterinary technician myself I always treated such a heavy appointment as more than just another patient to deal with. Where I'm from, grief counseling was a huge part of the job and I think this office could benefit greatly from implementing such training for its staff. We always had a comfortable blanket for pets to rest on in their final moments rather than the hard floor. I see glowing reviews from other clients so it would be a shame to have such an important kind of care be the downfall. Read Less

Dr. Anderson has been our vet for years. She always takes the time to really listen to our concerns and doesn't rush through the appointment trying to get to her next patient. We recently struggled with the decision to euthanize our 16-year-old dog. She was always available to discuss our options. When we finally made the decision to do it, we were treated with so much respect and compassion. She explained the process thoroughly and gave us as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes. She understands that our pets are members of our family, and I will always be grateful. Read Less

Bottom Line Up Front: We had the following terrible experience with Benson Animal Hospital, many people in the area have shared their similar experiences, do not take your animal there - especially in an emergency. Go to NC State College of Veterinary Medicine & Veterinary Health Complex who has amazing staff and is completely fair in their pricing, or Dr. Frazier of Frazier's Mobile Equine - now Hannah Creek Veterinary who comes highly recommended and rumor has it will be seeing small animals soon (if not already). Please let everyone know - thank you!  I was at work at Ft. Bragg when my wife called frantic that Mia (my dig) was bleeding everywhere from a fight. I told her to take her to the closest vet -Benson Animal Hospital - and put pressure on the wound. Thanks to my neighbor who helped usher the two dogs that were the worst-off to the vet they were there in minutes. As I rushed from Ft. Bragg to Benson - I called ahead and informed the vet that they would be receiving two injured dogs shortly. They said they would be prepared.  I got to the vet in under forty minutes and as I arrived I walked into the treatment room worried and hoping to see my two dogs alive and ok. Mia was on a table with a towel over her leg (held there by my neighbor), and Ginger was being pet by Emma. There was a tech in the doorway standing with her arms crossed and nobody else. I pulled off the towel to see what it looked like and was hit in the face from more than a foot away by the spray of arterial blood. I put the towel back on, placed pressure on it, and asked where the vet was and what the plan was. The vet Dr. Anderson was standing behind me and said that they were just about to take a look a Mia's leg, but she thought it was minor, and Ginger's leg was "superficial" and would heal on it's own. To this point the only "care" given was a groomer who came and partially shaved around the wounds. I told Emma that I was calling our vet at Ft. Bragg, getting some treatment supplies from my car and we were leaving. I placed a pressure bandage on Mia's leg and left back to Ft. Bragg. Within an hour of arriving at the Veterinary Treatment Facility, all three dogs (Dobby needed many stitches as well) were sedated and being stabilized. Ultimately, Mia severed a branch of her cephalic artery and her radial nerve, Ginger required a multi-layer complicated closure that went down to her bone, and Dobby took 10 stitches to close the flap on his leg. All told, it took two veterinarians, one special ops medic, one vet tech, more than 50 stitches, and two drains. Had I followed the plan set by Dr. Anderson, Ginger would have probably died from infection at worst and lost her leg at best. Mia would have bled to death or had to have her entire leg amputated. The worst part of all of this is that Benson Animal Hospital sent us a bill for both Ginger and Mia. They "credited" us for Mia - understandable since the only person in the building who treated her was my neighbor. We told them we would pay for the groomer's time who shaved a few spots but nothing else was done, so nothing else should be billed. Less than 30 days after nearly killing our dogs and billing us for it, they had the gall to send it to collections. We will contest all of that as needed but it should be known, never, ever, take your animal to Benson Animal Hospital; especially not in an emergency. Bottom Line Up Front: We had the following terrible experience with Benson Animal Hospital, many people in the area have shared their similar experiences, do not take your animal there - especially in an emergency. One word that would best describe my experience with this hospital? HORRIBLE. BENSON/JOCO PEEPS: Our dogs were involved in a pretty bloody dog fight last month. Mia had blood spurting at least 5 inches out of her leg and Ginger had a hole that was wide and deep where you could see the muscle in her leg. I freaked out and took them to Benson Animal Hospital. While we were there, so about 30 minutes, all they did was shave (partially) their wounds and tell me that they looked tRead Less
