I brought my dog in at midnight. She appeared to have been hit by a car but wasn't obviously injured except for a large gash under her foreleg. They gave me various various super expensive options. I could not afford most of them. I agreed to xrays, antibiotics, and stapling the wound closed. That cost $900. I wanted them to stitch her up but they refused to do it without blood work which they said they had to do before putting her under anaesthesia. That would all cost another thousand dollars. Refusing to do what I wanted and not allowing me to figure out what I was willing to risk and pay for did not sit well with me. My dog died two days later which surprised me given she had no internal damage visible on the stays. While they said it might still be there, and I am not blaming them for my dog's death, it was just another expensive sorry ass visit to a vet ending in death anyway. I have had quite a few. Read Less

I took my senior Black Lab here in September after coming home to him having a seizure and not knowing me or being able to walk. When we got there Buddy wasn't getting any better and after his exam the doctors found tumors all over him as well. I had known for some time that he was having problems walking and getting up and down stairs but I had no idea it was this bad. I just thought he was putting on weight. The doctors, vet techs and office staff there handled Buddy with care and were frank with me about his chances if I took him home that night. I decided for Buddy's sake to let him go and they were so careful with everything to make sure he wasn't hurt or scared anymore than he already had been. I would definitely take my other pets there for emergency care. Read Less

Beware... the two vets may have graduated, but they had no clue how to handle my dog. They had no clue how to handle me, and I was calm. I trusted them with my family member and they let me down and my dog is dead. Every time I called, I never got to talk with the vet, just the male nurse Chris. These people didn't know how to calm a dog that was having separation anxiety, so they chose to use a paralyzing drug and kept her in that state, when all they had to do was call me and I would have come back to calm her.. My dog walked in that place, but they "ACED" her and she was carried out on a stretcher. I was given a discharge paper, with information about wound care, body temp nothing to help her, just told me to keep her "ACED".. Celie ended up with Gangrene, and it spread so fast there was no saving her. they did not give me the correct antibiotics, the only instruction was to follow up to remove drains in four days. I brought her home on Saturday night, Sunday my vet came to my home, told me to take her off the "ACE". Tuesday morning my vet came again, Celie's Gangrene was now visible , it was so far advanced, there was nothing that could be done... I had to let her go Tuesday afternoon, this after AAEH got their $2500. If these two young vets had known how to do their jobs my Celie would still be alive. My dog walked in there, she should have walked out, even if it was on three legs..My vet was shocked that they released her in that condition I will never forgive then, I will never use this place again.. so be warned.. I don't recommend anyone going here. Incorrectly treated our dog on a saturday, thankfully we followed up with her primary vet the following monday, Primary vet advised had we not brought her in her condition would not have gotten any better. We spoke with Alamance Animal Emergency that evening at which time in a very "I could care less tone" admitted her primary vet was correct, admitted they treated her incorrectly and apologized but did not however offer to refund the EXTREMELY over charged bill. Poor animal care and poor customer service. *We also never saw or spoke to the vet which for such a high charge it would seem she could speak to the patients owners. Read Less

They were professional and compassionate during our crisis with our family dog. Could not have asked them to do any more and to have that kind of help on a Sunday is wonderful. Thanks to all at AAEH

I recently visited this clinic for the first time. While not perfect, and I was a bit shell shocked by the prices, I was pleased with the staff and how informative and caring they were. They checked in often while we were waiting on test results to keep us abreast of the situation, and that means alot. My experience being left waiting in rooms at other vets' for hours with no word had a tendency to leave me worried, so being kept up to date was a refreshing change. Read Less
