I stopped by Town 'N' Country this am to get my cat a nail trim. It was my hope that I could quickly drop her off and go drop my Dad off at Kernodle Clinic and go right back to get her. I asked if this was possible and was basically told "No", although I have done this in the past. She is (was) 1 of 2 cats that I take here. Luckily, Burlington Animal Hospital was on the way and they were able to help. Works for me since this is where I take my 3rd cat anyways. I hate to leave this post because I really do think a lot of Dr. Bolynn.  She was my cat's vet and I believe is a good vet.  It was because of her I was going to take my new puppy to be seen.  The first problem came when I tried setting up the first "baseline" appointment for the puppy.  According to the breeder's contract, I was supposed to have the puppy checked by a vet within 48 hours for an initial "baseline" checkup-basically just a quick physical to verify the puppy was healthy.  Because the puppy wasn't due for shots, the receptionist claimed the earliest appointment she had was weeks later.  I took the earliest appointment.  Two days after the puppy was home, the breeder emailed all of the new puppy owners, letting us know of a problem some of the puppies were having related to being microchipped.  Some of the puppies developed a cyst/abscess due to the microchip and they needed to see a vet for treatment/antibiotics.  Sure enough, after reading the email and after the puppy woke up from his nap, I noticed his neck was wet and sticky.  I felt sick to my stomach as I felt a big lump near the side of his neck.  I quickly called Town and Country and explained to the receptionist that my new puppy has a lump on his neck that is oozing sticky stuff and that several of his litter mates had reactions to microchipping and needed to see the Vet and were on antibiotics.  The receptionist told me the earliest they could see him was a few days later.  I couldn't believe it.  I hung up the phone and called two other vets in town and each offered to see the puppy that same day.  I wasn't even an established patient of theirs, like I was at Town and Country.  It turns out my puppy DID need multiple rounds of antibiotics, along with the abscess being first lanced and later needing a drain put in.  At least one puppy from the litter had multiple surgeries related to this.  I don't know what my puppy's fate would have been if I had waited 4 more days to be seen by Town and Country.  At the time, I was upset and thought Town and Country must be too busy and thought it was a shame because I did like Dr. Bolynn.  But now that I'm with a different vet and have a different perspective of how things COULD be and SHOULD be, my views have changed. The Town and Country staff are not friendly.  They were not helpful.  They didn't treat me like they cared if they had my business or not, and they certainly didn't treat me like family. Read Less

I have been taking my dogs, all terriers of some sort, here for 26 years now. The staff became a part of my Wire Hair Fox Terrier's family. Not only did they meet Gatsby's medical needs over the years, but  their doggie day care once or twice a week gave him the activity and companionship that enriched his life. All staff members were kind, patient, and loving. Gatsby had cancer three times over his 11 years, and I am firmly convinced we would have lost him the first time--or the second time--without Dr. King's and Dr. Bolynn's thorough and expert treatment. We were given the gift of an extra year with him from Dr. Bolynn's prescription of herbal supplements. I was always well-informed about treatment options, costs, etc. I cannot praise them enough! I have no complaint about the care being provided here, in fact it seemed better than average. My concern is the cost for services. In my case, Dr. King personally quoted me $500 to $600 for surgery on my dog. The next day, I get a call with a new quote of $800 to $1000 and the reason given was because of incidentals and a required vaccine. When I expressed my feeling of being lied to by the doctor and I "argued" the incidentals, the gal on the phone had no legitimate response. Two days later and Dr. King has not contacted me to inquire or try to make things right. I have taken my dog elsewhere and she will be getting the surgery she needs. I am in complete agreement with the pricing and thankful that her new doctor has given me the truth about everything. Read Less

I don't say this about TCAH as a whole, but my experience with them this past week was almost a complete disaster. One of the vets there came in to tell me after my dog had tests done and had symptoms of eating grapes off of my vine which include diarrhea, vomiting, lethargic, depressed, and loss of weight, that I should put her down. I asked is their any treatments that could be done and she told it was, but it would've cost me 1,200 or more to do. I told her that I was on a strict budget because I was on disability, but my benefits didn't start for another 4-6 week's and I could only afford around 400.00 at that time. Again she told me the best thing was to euthanize my 11/2 year old dog. Still not wanting to give up, I told her to give me some antibiotics and meds for nausea and the meds to reduce the toxic levels in her body. After paying 309.00, I took lady home and give her the meds, fed her chicken and rice, and made sure she hydrated herself. After about 3 days, lady is not only doing better, she's playing like normal and even chasing squirrels like she use to before getting sick. All I'm saying is, she needs to be careful about telling clients to euthanize their pets to soon because after her telling me their was no hope for lady, I almost took her advice when I didn't need to. ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION BECAUSE YOUR PETS LIVES DEPEND ON IT.Read Less

My dog was not acting herself so I took her to my regular vet. After exam and tests, it was determined she had a mass in her abdomen and we were referred to Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Greensboro, NC. She was later diagnosed with cancer. During my research, I found that Town N Country practices integrative medicine and that some cancers had responded well to this treatment. I made an appointment with Dr. Bolynn. She examined by girl and later completed research and devised a treatment plan and sent me an email of her plan. Unfortunately, before we could start treatment, my girl stopped eating and had to be put down. I notified Dr. Bolynn and she was most sympathetic. Later I got a card from the clinic with every staff person's signature. They not only signed, but wrote nice messages. I visited this clinic 1 time and yet I got that card that has meant so much. The specialists completed surgery on my dog and I spent thousands with them and they have not once called to check on her since her diagnosis. Believe me when I tell you that Town N Country has caring and compassionate people who care about their 2 and 4 legged customers. Thank you Dr. Bolynn and staff. Your kindness is much appreciated.Read Less

DO NOT GO HERE!!!  This is a truly awful veterinary clinic.  As someone who has not only owned pets for 25 years but also worked in an animal hospital for 3 years, I was completely appalled by the treatment my cat and I received, not to mention their outrageous prices.  When I arrived, my cat was taken from me by a technician who said absolutely nothing to me and asked me no questions about the reasons for my visit.  When my cat was returned to me, I was presented with a bill that included a $55 blood test I didn't order, a $30 vaccine I didn't request, and a $55 fee for inserting a microchip that I provided (most clinics charge $30-40 which includes the cost of the microchip).  When I tried to dispute these charges, the staff was very unpleasant and kind of uppity, as if I was in the wrong.  On top of that, neither a doctor nor a technician ever came out to speak with me or to ask if I had any questions.  Later that night, my cat had a vaccine reaction (he is fine now), which I knew to look for given my history with animals, but had I been a first time pet owner I would have been completely clueless and my cat could have gotten sick or possibly died because I wasn't properly informed.  Horrible, horrible place. Thru his illness & his death , the entire staff were not only good to HIM , but they were so good to my husband & I , too . They were SO kind , considerate , respectful , compassionate ...I could go on & on . I can't find the words to adequately describe how thankful I am for Town & Country . Besides being knowledgeable & professional , the entire staff are just REALLY amazingly GOOD people . They are the BEST ...no other vet could ever compare .
