Amazing staff and really helped my dog when he was in need! They had an opening and was able to fit him into their schedule. The staff called my vet in Durham and got his records and had to wait very little time to be seen. When Mavy and I got into the exam room their was a note welcoming Maverick and telling us who his doctor and vet tech was gonna be. Maverick struggles with the floors they have so they made sure there was a mat with a towel for him. They took good care of my best friend and I am very grateful. Will come back again and recommend them for your fury friends...

I am a part time resident of CB but also live in Raleigh. My dog is on an ongoing prescription for allergies that I ran out of while in CB. I went in here asking to refill the medication since my dogs regular vet is over 150 miles away...and if she goes without it her skin begins to turn red and itch. (allergies). I had the bottle and the regular vets contact info to get refill authorization as my dog has been on this medicine for a long time. They would not help at all and said they do not do prescription refills without an exam, but I could "try" other vets to see if they would help me.
This place cares more about making money than the animals actual comfort and health. It is sad when you get better service at the Wilmington Petsmart vet than a local business...but I had to go across the bridge to get the medicine that my dog needs.

Carolina Beach Animal Hospital is a great place to take care of all of your pet’s health care needs. They are professional and friendly. There is a loyalty program and an easy to use app for requesting all most anything....... from wellness appointments to refilling their prescriptions.
The support staff is always friendly, professional and helpful. I can’t begin to express my admiration and appreciation for Dr. Gina Scarzella. Dr. Scarzella’s knowledge, and compassionate nature are top rated.
My fur babies have some chronic health issues, but with her knowledgeable skills the problems have been addressed and both are doing great!
I highly recommend this veterinary practice and those awesome people who work there!!

Ok so my husband and I are truck drivers and were passing through Wilmington on a Saturday. I was worried my dog with heart trouble was in distress so I went to this vet office. They brought me in right away and my dog was seen by Dr. Hower. I was very impressed by his willingness to explain the signs to look out for and how this disease typically progresses. I left that day WITH my dog and a lot more educated in what to look for in the future. His compassion and love of animals was very obvious. I wish he was living and working in my City because he is awesome! Thanks!!

I’ve only been there twice so far, once with each of my boys, as we have just moved to the area but I definitely like the location since it’s about 2 minutes from my home. The clinic was very clean and well kept and staff was friendly. The vet techs and doctors were very knowledgeable and took time to talk with me about the need for flea protection because it’s apparently more of a problem due to the mild temperatures. Good information to know and it prompted me to buy an oral flea prevention product because my boys are inside dogs but have access to outside as they need or want. Overall, it was a very positive first experience with this clinic, I felt comfortable and more importantly, my boys seemed comfortable there too.

I had heard they were expensive, but I compared my invoices from my prior vets in the Raleigh area and they are pretty much in line cost wise. The facility is nice and clean, the staff have been helpful with scheduling and explaining services, etc. I moved both my dogs here and we did wellness, shots, etc. I have no complaints really.Reading some of the other comments, they are much more "clinical" than many places I have been. Not overly warm or loving on your pets. So it does have a coldness to it compared to many small vet offices. In many ways it's like the difference between my surgeon and my primary doc. My primary chats me up, asks how I'm feeling, knows me when I walk in. My surgeon is a highly skilled physician but somewhat cold and seems uncaring (although he is an awesome surgeon). This is a larger operation than I'm used to and can seem somewhat rigid at times, but my old vet was a sole proprietor and ran it like he was your uncle.The positive aspect is that this practice is well run, clear signs of being well managed, effective time management and up to date.So choose for yourself. They seem very competent and effective to me. Just don't expect then to call your name, give you hug and scratch your pet when you walk in the door.I will definitely continue to use them unless they screw up. So far I would recommend.

I had to rush to the ER in the middle of the night and they recommended transferring to Carolina Beach Animal Hospital In the morning to continue care. Dr. Scarzella was AMAZING!!! She took me right in and took care of everything I needed to get him through the rest of the week and my drive back to Colorado.

After being a client for over 13 years and 2 different locations, we were denied purchase of dog food yesterday due to the fact that we had not had our cairn terrier mid year physical, what a disappointing event. We have spent over 5 thousand dollars in boarding,checkups,shots wellness exams etc.I know that they are now all about the money, the group that is now running this place is all about the bottom line, I can see no reason to deny a dog high dollar food until we pay for another wellness check for 175$,what a corporate decision to make. There is no way I will be blackmailed by this group in order too squeeze more profit out of the care of my dog.There is an old adage that says you reap what you sow, We are going to find another vet on the island that cares more about those owners who are loyal, like their dogs, and dont have to meet quotas for sales of services that may or may not be needed.I am not directing this at the revolving front desk staff, they are only employees who try to do their jobs, this fish stinks from the head down. God willing our dog will live another 10 years, that equals 4 to 5 thousand dollars that will now be spent with the competition, you should be ashamed as you have proven yourselves to be greedy and unfeeling about the animals and customers you claim to care about,by the way the dog food is 8 dollars cheaper online.With great disappointmentMitch and Ginger Klein

I took my Standard Poodle, Gidget to Carolina Beach Animal Hospital to have her spayed this morning. Got a call at 12:30pm letting me know the vet accidentally cut her spleen and the bleeding was very bad but she was stable. I spend the entire afternoon stressing about my sweet pup. Go to pick her up at 5:30pm and the girl that checked us in earlier today had no idea who I was. Puts me in a room in the back where I begin to cry. Vet walks in "Oh you're upset. I have been too, that was a first for me" Then proceeds to review normal spade discharge paperwork. "Will the fact that you cut her spleen have any long term affects?" Nah, a lot of dogs don't eve have spleens, she'll be fine. Sends me to waiting room where I am clearly upset. Ask to check out and they charge me the full amount (mind you I added flea, heartworm and a microchip so it was $300). The Office Manager comes out and I say "You have no intentions of doing anything for us except an I"m sorry?" Ma'am, you asked us to spay her and we did so....." I was speechless! I suppose she had a point but you would think they would do something other than say I'm sorry, here is your bill. This was a super stressful situation and College Road Animal Hospital handled it like insensitive, money grubbing rookies. It turns out, several of my friends have had bad experiences here as well.
7/14/2016 Dr Lanzi (practice owner) called me a few days following my spay appointment requesting to meet with me. He and Office Manager, Elise, were very kind and apologetic over the way I was treated. They listened to my concerns and offered to give Gidget 6 months flea and heart worm protection. They assured me they would work with their team to ensure everyone communicated much better. I felt they were very sincere and am appreciative they took the time to meet meet with me.

Awesome Folks. My dog had a bad reaction while fishing on the South End. I called about 5 minutes before they closed hoping they could help me out. Traffic on the island was horrific due to weekend travel and they knew it was going to take me some time to get there. They very patiently waited for me and took awesome care of my dog. The staff was very knowledgeable and also very personable seeing that I showed up 20 minutes after they closed. Seeing they aren't an emergency vet they didn't have to do that at all. The Doc even gave me a ring on a Sunday (the next day) to check in on my pup. Great folks, clean environment, very reasonably priced. Thanks guys for helping Beau and I out! Highly recomended!

The doctors and technicians are very knowledgeable and are always willing to answer any questions. The groomer takes her time with each pet and makes sure they get the individual attention they deserve. Its less stress on both the owner and the pet to have the grooming done at their vets office where everyone knows and loves them.

Amazing staff and really helped my dog when he was in need! They had an opening and was able to fit him into their schedule. The staff called my vet in Durham and got his records and had to wait very little time to be seen. When Mavy and I got into the exam room their was a note welcoming Maverick and telling us who his doctor and vet tech was gonna be. Maverick struggles with the floors they have so they made sure there was a mat with a towel for him. They took good care of my best friend and I am very grateful. Will come back again and recommend them for your fury friends...

I am a part time resident of CB but also live in Raleigh. My dog is on an ongoing prescription for allergies that I ran out of while in CB. I went in here asking to refill the medication since my dogs regular vet is over 150 miles away...and if she goes without it her skin begins to turn red and itch. (allergies). I had the bottle and the regular vets contact info to get refill authorization as my dog has been on this medicine for a long time. They would not help at all and said they do not do prescription refills without an exam, but I could "try" other vets to see if they would help me.
This place cares more about making money than the animals actual comfort and health. It is sad when you get better service at the Wilmington Petsmart vet than a local business...but I had to go across the bridge to get the medicine that my dog needs.

The support staff is always friendly, professional and helpful. I can’t begin to express my admiration and appreciation for Dr. Gina Scarzella. Dr. Scarzella’s knowledge, and compassionate nature are top rated.
My fur babies have some chronic health issues, but with her knowledgeable skills the problems have been addressed and both are doing great!
I highly recommend this veterinary practice and those awesome people who work there!!

Ok so my husband and I are truck drivers and were passing through Wilmington on a Saturday. I was worried my dog with heart trouble was in distress so I went to this vet office. They brought me in right away and my dog was seen by Dr. Hower. I was very impressed by his willingness to explain the signs to look out for and how this disease typically progresses. I left that day WITH my dog and a lot more educated in what to look for in the future. His compassion and love of animals was very obvious. I wish he was living and working in my City because he is awesome! Thanks!!

I’ve only been there twice so far, once with each of my boys, as we have just moved to the area but I definitely like the location since it’s about 2 minutes from my home. The clinic was very clean and well kept and staff was friendly. The vet techs and doctors were very knowledgeable and took time to talk with me about the need for flea protection because it’s apparently more of a problem due to the mild temperatures. Good information to know and it prompted me to buy an oral flea prevention product because my boys are inside dogs but have access to outside as they need or want. Overall, it was a very positive first experience with this clinic, I felt comfortable and more importantly, my boys seemed comfortable there too.

I had heard they were expensive, but I compared my invoices from my prior vets in the Raleigh area and they are pretty much in line cost wise. The facility is nice and clean, the staff have been helpful with scheduling and explaining services, etc. I moved both my dogs here and we did wellness, shots, etc. I have no complaints really.Reading some of the other comments, they are much more "clinical" than many places I have been. Not overly warm or loving on your pets. So it does have a coldness to it compared to many small vet offices. In many ways it's like the difference between my surgeon and my primary doc. My primary chats me up, asks how I'm feeling, knows me when I walk in. My surgeon is a highly skilled physician but somewhat cold and seems uncaring (although he is an awesome surgeon). This is a larger operation than I'm used to and can seem somewhat rigid at times, but my old vet was a sole proprietor and ran it like he was your uncle.The positive aspect is that this practice is well run, clear signs of being well managed, effective time management and up to date.So choose for yourself. They seem very competent and effective to me. Just don't expect then to call your name, give you hug and scratch your pet when you walk in the door.I will definitely continue to use them unless they screw up. So far I would recommend.

I had to rush to the ER in the middle of the night and they recommended transferring to Carolina Beach Animal Hospital In the morning to continue care. Dr. Scarzella was AMAZING!!! She took me right in and took care of everything I needed to get him through the rest of the week and my drive back to Colorado.

After being a client for over 13 years and 2 different locations, we were denied purchase of dog food yesterday due to the fact that we had not had our cairn terrier mid year physical, what a disappointing event. We have spent over 5 thousand dollars in boarding,checkups,shots wellness exams etc.I know that they are now all about the money, the group that is now running this place is all about the bottom line, I can see no reason to deny a dog high dollar food until we pay for another wellness check for 175$,what a corporate decision to make. There is no way I will be blackmailed by this group in order too squeeze more profit out of the care of my dog.There is an old adage that says you reap what you sow, We are going to find another vet on the island that cares more about those owners who are loyal, like their dogs, and dont have to meet quotas for sales of services that may or may not be needed.I am not directing this at the revolving front desk staff, they are only employees who try to do their jobs, this fish stinks from the head down. God willing our dog will live another 10 years, that equals 4 to 5 thousand dollars that will now be spent with the competition, you should be ashamed as you have proven yourselves to be greedy and unfeeling about the animals and customers you claim to care about,by the way the dog food is 8 dollars cheaper online.With great disappointmentMitch and Ginger Klein

I took my Standard Poodle, Gidget to Carolina Beach Animal Hospital to have her spayed this morning. Got a call at 12:30pm letting me know the vet accidentally cut her spleen and the bleeding was very bad but she was stable. I spend the entire afternoon stressing about my sweet pup. Go to pick her up at 5:30pm and the girl that checked us in earlier today had no idea who I was. Puts me in a room in the back where I begin to cry. Vet walks in "Oh you're upset. I have been too, that was a first for me" Then proceeds to review normal spade discharge paperwork. "Will the fact that you cut her spleen have any long term affects?" Nah, a lot of dogs don't eve have spleens, she'll be fine. Sends me to waiting room where I am clearly upset. Ask to check out and they charge me the full amount (mind you I added flea, heartworm and a microchip so it was $300). The Office Manager comes out and I say "You have no intentions of doing anything for us except an I"m sorry?" Ma'am, you asked us to spay her and we did so....." I was speechless! I suppose she had a point but you would think they would do something other than say I'm sorry, here is your bill. This was a super stressful situation and College Road Animal Hospital handled it like insensitive, money grubbing rookies. It turns out, several of my friends have had bad experiences here as well.
7/14/2016 Dr Lanzi (practice owner) called me a few days following my spay appointment requesting to meet with me. He and Office Manager, Elise, were very kind and apologetic over the way I was treated. They listened to my concerns and offered to give Gidget 6 months flea and heart worm protection. They assured me they would work with their team to ensure everyone communicated much better. I felt they were very sincere and am appreciative they took the time to meet meet with me.

Awesome Folks. My dog had a bad reaction while fishing on the South End. I called about 5 minutes before they closed hoping they could help me out. Traffic on the island was horrific due to weekend travel and they knew it was going to take me some time to get there. They very patiently waited for me and took awesome care of my dog. The staff was very knowledgeable and also very personable seeing that I showed up 20 minutes after they closed. Seeing they aren't an emergency vet they didn't have to do that at all. The Doc even gave me a ring on a Sunday (the next day) to check in on my pup. Great folks, clean environment, very reasonably priced. Thanks guys for helping Beau and I out! Highly recomended!

The doctors and technicians are very knowledgeable and are always willing to answer any questions. The groomer takes her time with each pet and makes sure they get the individual attention they deserve. Its less stress on both the owner and the pet to have the grooming done at their vets office where everyone knows and loves them.
