I have been taking my dog to Carrboro Plaza Vet Clinic for the last 8 years. Over the years, several issues have accumulated- and we finally decided to take our business elsewhere.1. To obtain bloodwork for our dog, they have you personally help restrain the dog while they draw the blood. Since switching vets (and in talking to other friends), I realize that many other vet clinics actually take the animal to another room, take care of the bloodwork, and then bring them back. I would prefer this to their method- especially because I'm 100 pounds- to my dog's 60 pounds which makes me a little nervous around a needle and a dog that's trying to get away!2. The vet spends very little time with us. I'm not the kind of person who wants a one hour visit- but on average, the time spent with the vet is approximately 5-10 minutes (tops). She offers us very little information, and once when I asked a question about tricks to improve behavior with other dogs, she sounded annoyed and answered with a very quick response that was entirely unhelpful. 3. Exams seem less than adequate. For example, when examining our dog, if she moves her head and the vet is unable to examine her ear, the vet just decides to move on to the next part (instead of trying again to actually examine that particular body part). If I pay for a complete exam, I expect an actual exam. My dog is actually not that bad- she'll move her head away from somebody, but eventually cooperates. They just don't seem thorough at all. 4. Medication is impossible to obtain. My dog is healthy- all she needs is flea & tick medication & heartworm meds. Last visit, I went in for additional heartworm medication, and the vet accused us of having additional medication at home. I'm not sure why in the world I would be harboring additional medication (?!), but I assured her that we were out of heartworm medication and needed a new prescription. She reluctantly agreed to provide us another prescription for a couple months, and when this ran out, I called to see if we could get more. The office refused, first stating that they had issued me 12 months of medication (they had only given me 2). Then, when I explained that their records were incorrect, they just told me that they could be held "liable" for prescribing the medication. Instead, I would need to pay for another exam, and only then would they prescribe the medication. What? I'm a doctor- who prescribes medication for *humans*- and I have never heard of something so ridiculous. This was the last straw. After your vet clinic treats you like the head of some heartworm drug ring, I think it's time to switch.Anyway, the office staff is pleasant enough as are the vet techs, and the facility is fine as well (which is why I stayed as long as I did, and why I give it two stars instead of one). But the vet-related issues have been accumulating over the years, and I finally decided to leave. Now having experienced our new vet clinic (who personally calls us with our dog's labwork, spends quality time with us at our vet visit, and provides us with her meds without any accusations)- I really wish I had done it sooner. After talking with my friends & family, I realize- there are so many better vet clinics out there! Read Less
