My cat now receives better health care than I do. Bravo, United States of Frivolous Lawsuits & Unaffordable Health-care/disinterest. I took Midna to another vet when I first arrived in this town, who diagnosed her hacking and wheezing attacks as mere allergies, and who suggested that further testing would cost a significant amount, and where any new diagnosis would likely be untreatable. As seasons passed and the attacks continued, I found this diagnosis more difficult to accept, let alone believe. That's when I took her highness to the Animal Hospital of Carrboro (AHC), and our lives changed forever. No, really, things changed.Midna's new doc, Dr. Dorsch, rolled out the red carpet and never rolled it back up. He agreed (I like it when people agree with me) that it was unlikely to be allergies, and more likely to be a list of other things. This list was the list of things the other vet had warned against testing for due to cost/inability-to-treat. Dr. Dorsch, however, recommended we test one possibility at a time, according to cost, likelihood, and treatability. First up? Cat asthma, testing via xray.Diagnosis? Cat asthma.Treatment? Some inhalers.Problem solved! Midna has been nearly attack-free for 8 months. During that time, Dr. Dorsch has made himself available for consult via email, responding to my inquiries within a day.Who gets this kind of treatment from a family physician who has dozens of other patients? No one. Just my cat. And your cat or dog, if you bring him/her to AHC. Read Less
