Now, a few days later, she is feeling much better and back to her normal self. The team at Carpenter also followed up the day after to check in on the hamster and how she was doing. Being new to NC I was looking for a new vet for our 3 pets. We LOVED our vet in TX so the bar was already set pretty high. After asking around and reading reviews, I chose this one and was not disappointed. After arriving, I was immediately offered help from a girl letting a dog out to do it's business (I had a dog, cat, and baby in tow). The wait was very short and all of the staff I encountered were courteous and seemed to genuinely care. I also never felt rushed throughout the appointment. I was also helped back out to my car without needing to ask (I would have managed myself, but the help sure was nice!). I have been taking my cats to Carpenter Animal Hospital since the original owner was there. Now owned by Dr. Hodges (for a number of years) it's even better. The team there is wonderful. They were quick to help me scan a cat who recently appeared on our doorstep to see if she had a microchip, and they went WAY above and beyond helping to care for that cat. The one instance in which an issue ever arose for us in the past (important incomplete/inaccurate information received from a vet tech) my concerns were addressed professionally and I felt heard. Eventually an issue will arise anywhere...it's how it's handled, and I felt it was handled well. When my two elderly cats passed away about a year apart the entire office signed sympathy cards. But the thing that made me Dr. Hodges biggest fan for life was the care he provided for Howard, who was my furry soulmate. I now think I should have made the call sooner when Howard's health really deteriorated at 18, I regret that I lacked the clarity to see when it was time for Howard to go...but when I did, Dr. Hodges came to the house so Howard could pass away at home instead of stressed out at the office, and I will never forget that he did that for Howard. I have no doubt that he gave Howard and I more time than he had to spare that day, even after Howard was gone and I sobbed, sharing stories of sweet Howard's life. Good place for grooming only. NEVER ask this clinic to issue health certificate for traveling with your pets, especially for international flights. This clinic do not have any experience in this, which will cost you a lot of money even you made an appointment one month ago... NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!!! ------------------------------------------------------ I will answer to the owner's comment: Owner: "These requirements vary greatly among hundreds of countries and your embassy did not have any posted guidelines (in English) nor did they share any with the USDA." Answer: This is exactly what I am trying to say. You do not have any experience in this. This information can be found in one minute and yes it is n English: aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel/by-country/pettravel-russian-federation Remember what you staff did? Just in a few days before the trip I was informed that certificate cannot be issued and endorsed. For this reason forgive me my bad language as I lost about 4k postponing my trip for one month. Owner: "Though we reiterated this fact at your appointment we followed your instructions, at your insistence" Answer: And issued me a fake certificates? Without checking any requirements of other country? Really? Dog missed one vaccine and rabbit three. USDA informed about this case of providing fake papers. Good luck. Owner: "We are also disappointed to read these comments despite our many attempts to accommodate your needs." Answer: I also disappointed that the owner called me from the one-way phone.. Owner: "We do not routinely vaccinate rabbits in this country and there was no available information specifying these requirements." Answer: But you issued fake certificate for $140. Do you understand what are you writing here? Owner: "Also, you walked out without paying your invoice and have never been billed for any international health certificates with our practice." Answer: I am kindly asking you to provide correct information here. I did not pay not because I am walked out but because your equipment did not charged me. Did I provide you with my CC? - YES. Did you put it in your machine? - YES. The fact that payment was rejected found me in Richmond USDA office next day. After, I was declined with endorsement because of the fake papers, ask your yourself for what should I pay you? Why you don't wanna pay me 4k for my loses because of your incompetence? I have been going to Carpenter for the three years that we’ve had our dog. We usually see Dr. Pease for our dog’s check-ups and she really helped to encourage and educate me during his trying puppy year. We have used the daycare and boarding many times and our dog is always SO happy to go and is still very happy when we pick him up. We also have him groomed there, and Kim clearly LOVES dogs and especially loves our dog. Sometimes I think she likes him more than I do! 😂. Our dog is a beloved member of our family and I feel so incredibly comfortable leaving him there. We have been taking our dog to Carpenter Animal Hospital for the past two and a half years. We have enjoyed seeing all of the doctors and the techs are all very nice to me and our dog. We love how they call the next day after shots or surgery to make sure our dog is doing alright. They are very caring and have a true love for animals. They are also very reasonable for their services. We have also used them for boarding on long weekends and have purchased dogs meds there. One stop shopping for all our dogs needs! Love it! I was so glad that Layla could get medical care during her last boarding visit. She is older and starting to have more health issues, very reassuring to have such attentive care. The vet on staff during her stay called and spent 30 min after hours explaining her diagnosis. Loved that she was allowed to hang out in the clinic during the day for her last stay, hope that you can give her this freedom again. I come here for my regular visits and have always been pleased. It is always clean and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Yesterday my dog hurt her leg chasing a squirrel so I called for an appointment and got in later that day. I had to take my 5 month old with me, which made things difficult. As I walked up, a worker opened the door for me (I don't even know where he came from!). We were given a room within minutes and talking to a very nice vet tech. We soon saw Dr. Catala who was fantastic. She was super thorough and even though we were in a little past close she didn't ever make me feel rushed or like she was in a hurry. She answered every question and laid out any option available. Very straightforward. To top it all off, she walked my dog all the way out to my car and even put her in! I began bringing my cat to carpenter animal hospital over a year ago when his condition worsened (kidney disease and gum disease) and the current vet I was seeing would not offer me any solutions. Dr. Hodges, from day one was so positive and optimistic about his condition and offered multiple treatments and options. Sadly, two weeks ago I had to say good bye to my beloved cat but I firmly believe that he was able to experience another year of life and comfort because of Dr. Hodges and his staff. Every experience, even the one that involved putting my cat to sleep has been positive and professional. Had a horrible experience here. I brought my dog for a procedure and they took my dog in the back but didnt treat her for hours. I have been coming here for a while and they knew I did not like putting my dog in a cage also Dr. Hodges and Dr. Catala ( she goes by kettle) know this so they usually were good about appointment times. I usually go shopping nearby so that when i get the call to pick my dog up Im right there so they do not have to put her in a cage. I never got a call back and it was 2 hours so I just came back to find that my dog was in a cage and was not event treated. Furthermore I was not even informed, this is what upsets me. Apparently the explanation was another customer demanded their dog be seen first and they lost track. They should of at least called me to let me know this and they know I do not like locking my dog in a cage. Both Dr. Hodges and Dr. Catala were nonchalant and did not even apologize. i was shocked when their response was well we have other customers too so if you dont like it than you can go somewhere else, have a good day. I was so upset because this is not right to my baby. unlike them I look at my dog as my baby, how would you feel if you were locked in a cage.I watched them take my dog in the back when I dropped her off so I dont understand why they didnt call me back right away I was in the parking lot. It was 2 hours after I dropped my dog off. When I dropped my dog off I saw them take her to the back so I assumed they were treating her. very unprofessional, unethical, and bad customer service for telling me " If I dont like it then go somewhere else" I just wanted to cry and the sight of my dog in the cage is heartreaking. I went to another Vet but people should beware that it appears these veterinarians do not care for animals but more for a paycheck. I say this not from just this experience but makes sense when I talked to them. When I first asked Dr. Catala how do you enjoy helping these animals she replied with.."ehh its pays well" even if she was joking that's not the right answer. I real vet like the one I am going to now stated he chose veterinarian school to help animals because they are more vulnerable and that his heart goes out to dogs (he loves dogs) because they are so loyal and caring. That is the type of veterinarian you guys should find. So it is no wonder that Dr. Hodges and Dr. Catala thinks its okay to keep my dog in a cage and not respect my wishes. While on a run, I found a stray kitten in a drainage pond here in West Cary.. Cute little thing pretty much called out to me as I went by, after digging through the reeds I found a sweet little gray kitten :(... I could not care for it as my husband is VERY allergic... The staff is wonderful. The amenities are fantastic. The staff is wonderful - yeah I know I already said that. We've been taking our pets to Carpenter Animal Hospital for about 12 years. Over that period of time they've been part of the lifecyle of both my dogs. When we moved to the area my first dog (a Jack Russell Terrier) was 7 years old. At first I started taking him there for general vet appointments. The funny thing is that he was never upset at going to see the Vet. Despite being poked and prodded he actually seemed to like it there. It took me a while to figure out why. Its because of the staff. The people that work there are dog people. I'm sure their cat people too, but I don't have a cat. They actually love dogs and treat them like their own. So when it was time to take him to to Vet it never bothered him. This was incredibly comforting as he got older and at the age of 17 1/2 was at the end of his life with us. I know they experience this event more than any of us can imagine. On his last day they tried to make us both comfortable but as I was crying so too was the staff ( I don't want to name them here, but I know every one of their names). They treated us both like family. Several months later my family decided that our home was empty without our dog, and while no dog would ever replace him - it just wasn't the same. So we decided to get another Jack Russell Terrier. The first day that we brought our "new dog" in for his first checkup - one of the staff members (I know her name) actually hugged me and cried because they knew how difficult is was for us. Our "new" god has all his checkups done there and goes to "Doggie Day Care" 1 x week. Here's a question for you - "How do you get a 2 Year Old Jack Russell Terrier to sleep for 2 days?" - You send him to Doggie Day Care for 1 day! He loves it. In fact, he loves it so much that my wife is jealous because he is more happy to go there than stay home and play with her. In fact, if we mention the name of one of the ladies that works they he goes crazy and runs to the door - ready to go! What more can I say. I trusted both my dogs to their care for over 12 years. We use them form standard vet care (they are the best), weekly Doggie Day Care (he loves it), and we use them for Boarding (they are the ONLY place we would trust our dogs to) If you go there and find a small puddle of pidldle on the floor - its probably from our dog at getting excited seeing his friends in the lobby. I really love CAH. They know my dogs, they love my dogs - I've used their boarding services and their doggy day care. My dog had such a good time that every time we show up at the vet's now, she practically pulls my arm off in her excitement to get IN the door. For vet services, they're pretty reasonably priced I think - not cheap, but definitely worth it. They take the time to listen to my concerns and research the best ways to meet my needs while also making sure the dogs are taken care of. And even when it comes to end of life decisions, they're respectful and kind and understanding. Today was my Foxhound's first visit to CAH and I'll never take her anywhere else. She's been to four other vets in the seven years I've had her and I never felt like they really cared about her--- just about the bottom line. Dr. C took the time to listen to my concerns, took her time with my dog, and was beyond sweet to boot! The vet tech and receptionist were delightful as well. I really appreciated the huge exam rooms and the fact they had a towel on the floor rather than a cold table. I'm just so thrilled and am so happy to now have a vet I can trust! Read Less

I brought my golden retriever to be groomed. As soon as the groomer came up front she started to let my dog, who in30 seonds ws in her lap. As I am neurotic about my dog I was worried about this grooming. OMG let me tell anyone reading this, this lady did a fabulous job. My dog was cut to the Golden retriever standard. They have different items for sale like food, toys, clothes, beds, leashes, treats, anything your pet would need.My sister brings her pup here so on my trip to visit her we stopped by since she told me they sell Virbac C.E.T. petite dental chews 30 count for only $10.94 which is a great deal since I can't find them in south Florida for less then $19. They also showed me other products that they recommend to keep my Eva's teeth healthy and in her mouth lol.It seems like a very professional, clean, and loving place for all your pets needs. Carpenter Animal Hospital is one of the best animal hospitals in the area! I took my poodle mix in to get a yearly checkup and also to get neutered and Dr. Hodges was very personable and extremely knowledgeable regarding the health of my dog and explained every step of the procedure with me. After my dog's surgery the hospital called in regularly to check in on him and always asked if I had any questions or concerns. The hospital is clean, updated, and the staff is always friendly. Was very rude after asking questions about a previous visit, would'nt return phone calls after several requests and on top of all of that our pet ended up with an infection after we asked why she wasnt given an antibiotic after having surgery!!! Very disappointed. I just moved here and went based on the printed reviews. The owner was rude to my child. Would not give me straight answers regarding my pets? medical issues and just wanted me to sign an estimate for over $400. I had brought my records from my other vet with me but this vet wouldn?t or didn?t believe the vaccine history and bloodwork results. I waited over 30 minutes to actually get into the exam room and the front office lady was extremely dismissive and rude. I will not go back. I believe all the negative comments are true. I believe CAH is the greatest dog care/vets office/boarding facility in NW Cary. My dog cannot wait to get there for dog care/boarding/doctor visits. I moved from another state where vet clinics just give you a number and you take your turn for service. Carpenter Animal Hospital cares and to prove it, my dog has never been happier. Each animal is given their private suite to spend the night versus a cage that most vets use. They are very responsive and will treat your animal if anything happens while they are boarding. I never have to worry about my pet while he is boarding or being seen there. And, day care! It's the greatest. My dog goes each and every day to play, be stimulated with other animals, and practice his obedience. Every morning, my pet is sitting at the back door waiting to go to ""school"". Dr. Griffith and Dr. Nichols are delightful and go the extra mile to make sure that all visits are comprehensive. I appreciate their follow-up apts too making sure that side effects of medications and treatments are successful. Their facility is so clean and neat all the time. If for any reason you need help with your pet getting in and out of the car, they are there to help you. They care at Carpenter Animal Hospital. It is a pleasure for me to write a nice review. I have owned 10 dogs in my lifetime and have seen vets come and go. I can honestly tell you from my animal ownership experience, that Carpenter rates 5-stars for service and integrity. I boarded my two dogs and my cat over Christmas. They needed to have some vaccines updated, and since we just moved to town we saw the doctor there. I cant remember her name but she was so nice! She explained everything to me, why it was needed. I was concerned about cost with the boarding fees and Christmas time. I was given an estimate at the beginning of my appointment and the total cost was the same! When picking up my pets I spoke to one of the people who provided their care, they gave me a report card and told me about their time there. They were dirty from playing, but I did not ask for bath. From the looks of them they had a great time! My cat even ate while she was there! I cant comment on the two previous posts here, but I can say that I will be a long time customer here. I have since signed my dogs up for daycare. They start barking as soon as we turn onto the street that they are on! They run in the front door and everyone there knows who they are. Read Less

Polished looks can be deceiving, trust me! I boarded my animal here while on vacation for one week. I took my dog in perfectly healthy and when I picked her up one week later she had such a serious eye infection and needed emergency eye surgery, not once, but twice! I even paid extra to have the animal caregivers spend more time with my dog. Had they been doing this, the eye infection should have never been allowed to reach such severity. My dog almost lost her eyesight had I not spent over $3,000 to have it repaired. And do you want to know what the receptionist behind the front desk said to me, don't worry, one of my dogs lost one of her eyes a few years back and she is doing just great! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???? I was so distraught picking up my comatose dog because they had so heavily sedated her from her pain, and their lack of medical care, that I was speechless! I could not believe that such an establishment had allowed my healthy, happy dog to fall to such a state of pain and sadness. DO NOT BOARD YOUR ANIMALS HERE! BE WARNED!! They do not care for your animals as they say they do. There are plenty of other animal care facilities in the surrounding areas, PLEASE check them out before you board here. Read Less

I guess they take all the animals out at once, sometimes 10 at a time! How can you monitor all of them. And I was expected to pay for the wound care! Very upset by lack of compassion. We recently boarded our dog for an 11 day vacation on the west coast. A few days into the trip, we received a call from the kennel indicating that our 11 year old Bichon Frise had been bitten by another dog during the evening walk. The kennel employee indicated that our dog was fine and that the dog that bit him was a puppy. She indicated that the vet would look at the dog the next morning and call us. We received no call the next day. We called the vet. The vet told us that she left us a message. It turns out that she called one of our emergency contacts; she did not call us. The vet showed no empathy and no remorse about the incident. In fact, the vet closed the conversation by telling us that we were monetarily responsible for the medical care our dog received. The vet also indicated that our dog was not bitten by a puppy. We called some of our neighbors and asked them to check up on our dog. They both received inconsistent stories about how the incident occurred. When we finally picked up our dog, it was obvious that our dog was bitten by a very large dog. There were four puncture wounds near our dog's neck. Again, none of the staff could give a clear story of how our dog was bitten. The vet did not even come out to talk to us. The kennel gave us a discount, however, they showed little care or compassion. We will never board our dog at this kennel again. Read Less

My dog loved being boarded here! Also, the boarding area for cats was the best I have ever seen. All office procedures went smoothly and had no problems with staff or policies. Both my animals have had yearly office visits and the vet was great! For once a vet did not try to sell me a bunch of procedures or lecture me on all of the preventative medicine they could do. I am surprised that others have had problems at Carpenter. I first took my puppy to another vet, also in Cary, and was dissatisfied with the impersonal service and long distance from my home. I transferred my puppy's care to Carpenter about 1 1/2 years ago and have been very happy there. My dog goes there for daycare at least once per week, we use vet services, and we board him there. They have always been very caring and attentive. I have only had one problem (computer issue with new employee) and it was resolved immediately. The prices have been similar to what I paid at the other vet. I would be willing to pay a little more for the convenience of having such loving staff so close to home. I feel very comfortable having him there and HE LOVES IT! He pulls me in and I have to drag him out. Read Less
