Love Dr. Bailey and the vet techs/reception who are amazing every single time! Routine care for pets are comparable in price to other vets in the area, however dental cleanings are more expensive, I was able to go to a vet in Durham to get my cat's dental cleaning for 250$ less than quoted here. I hope procedural pricing can decrease some in the future! Otherwise, love them! Read Less

We have been very pleased with our experiences at Cary Vet Hospital. We have taken our French bulldog here since we brought him home as a puppy. All of the veterinarians have been responsive to our needs and concerns, and our dog actually gets excited to go in the office! I enjoyed learning the experience of working in the animal world. Dr. Macan was a very scary person to work for an the great workers he had he didn't care about just seemed the lazy ones. I worked at the front office he hired another girl to work WITH ME that had worked at another hospital. She sat on her fat butt reading nasty books, talk to the clients from the floor. Never said a nice word to me at all. She was late for work one morning really mad at the world the lobby was full of clients she was creaming her head off at me an I ignored her so she grabbed my arm to pull me around to face her in front of all the clients which hurt an was embarrassing. All of this was told to Dr. Macan but he never did a thing. He got mad at a puppy kicked him so hard it killed the puppy, what a LIE he told the owners. He made it a contest with the other doctor in the hospital who could do things the fastest. I promised I would never take my pets there an really glad he is gone. Having been a lifetime pet owner and worked myself at a veterinary clinic for 6 years, I can be sure that this is an excellent clinic.  I first used them to get my kitties flea dipped after an unfortunate living situation, and they were reasonable enough to not charge me an exam fee for just a flea bath, which was a welcome change from a lot of clinics.  I returned for one of my cat's yearly shot appointment and found the veterinarian very knowledgeable, offering care above and beyond what I expected.  The staff were all friendly and helpful, and listened to my suggestions of how to get work done on my easily spooked kitty (and were able to do everything without sedation!).  I also did not have to wait at all past my appointment time, which was great.  Highly recommend taking your fur babies there. My review actually stems back about 20yrs. I'm glad to see that after checking the website the original Doctor is no longer there. He was the owner. His name is Dr. Marvin McCann. I worked at this hospital about 20yrs ago and my memories from this place and this doctor are traumatizing. I decided to do a review as I guess a self healing. That doctor was an animal abuser. I actually witnessed him abusing animals. I walked in on him and caught him choking a little poodle, kicking a lab because the dog kept picking his food bowl up & carrying it around. He taught his head technician to spray the dogs in the face with the hose if the boarding dogs wouldnt stop barking and much more. These events traumatized me for a very long time. I was only about 23 at the time & this was my first job working at a hospital. He was intimidating and I was afraid of confronting him at the time because we were alone & I caught him doing something atrocious. I left shortly after these events & got the hell away from that hospital. I moved thousands of miles away but like I said, it has haunted me. I still think about those dogs & the lies the staff would tell the owners. I don't know how these current doctors are. Hopefully nothing like Dr. McCann. The staff are always so kind and genuinely care about your pet's health. Our dog recently had to undergo major surgery due to a life threatening emergency. Even after the surgery, Dr.Lang has followed up with us numerous times to ensure that everything is going well and to answer all of our questions. She is awesome! I've tried writing this review multiple times but can't even begin to find the right words to express my gratitude towards Dr. Bailey and the entire CVH staff for helping me and my boy Peanut deal with kidney disease. A CKD diagnosis for a 15 y/o cat is never easy to hear but the quality care they provided and the compassion they showed to me and to P ensured our last months together were as comfortable and happy as possible. While our loved ones are never with us long enough, CVH gave me the gift of time. I can't imagine any other place or group of people that I'd trust with my four-legged family more than CVH. I started taking my dog here in 2015 due to all the positive reviews and after multiple visits, I was going to switch vets had I not had to move for my job. Here's why:- Prices were higher than my old vet (who was also in Cary but I switched to have the vet closer to my old apartment) for example, a nail trim was $25 here and at my old vet, it was $16 something. The dental cleaning came out about $150 more.- 95% of the time, there was a wait. Yes, I understand they are very busy but this wasn't a specialist office and having a wait most of the time is a time management issue.- I was fine w/ Dr Bailey but I had Dr Horton one visit and did.not.like.her. For future visits, I repeatedly asked to have another vet other than Dr Horton and they said they put my appt under Dr Bailey and when I got there, Dr Horton was the attending vet. Why don't I like her? 1. I said I fed my dog the raw diet and she automatically assumed I fed my dog just meat. Noooo, I blend fruits and veggies, dump in vitamins and supplements, and mix in butcher's meat for my dog's food based on extensive research. She kept pushing for their crap Hill's and Royal Canine food and railing against the raw diet. 2. She never specified kidney disease w/ my dog - just that we have to monitor her. Then I find out my dog has kidney disease after the 3rd renal panel exam from her after asking her outright. This should have been disclosed earlier. 3. I told her that my dog hated dog food and she is already a skinny dog and Dr Horton kept pushing for special diet food for renal dog patients and even wanted to put my dog on appetite stimulating pills. She didn't ask me what I wanted for my dog. She just assumed I would want my dog to have as long of a life as possible being unhappy. Food is the only thing my dog enjoys and at 15, I'm not taking that away from her just so she can live an unfulfilling life.I moved for a new job but had I not moved, I would've already switched vets. $500 visit for two cats. Wow. $250 of that was a single cat's blood test. I did not get the results the same day, I wasn't given a cheaper option. I was told "if it's in your budget you should do it" thinking it'd be like $75 (which is what I've paid elsewhere), then I got hit with that. $30 for fecal test which could have probably been cheaper if the receptionist on the phone bothered to tell me to fish a piece of poop out of the litter box. The care was fine, but we were charged over $700 for two dogs to get a regular checkup and round of vaccinations. I'm not sure who was talking about being cost-effective, my previous vet back home charged about $150 per dog for the same services. When we inquired "how much is that?" for individual items, the answer was "oh, it's important, your dog needs it." and I figured it couldn't be that much more than I was used to, I've had dogs my whole life and never had an unmanageable non-emergency vet bill. We were blindsided in the end. By the time we were given the total amount it was too late to refuse services that had already been rendered, so we gritted our teeth and handed it over. Next time I will drive back to SC for Mobile Pet Med and save myself hundreds of dollars. Read Less

We have been seeing Dr. John Bailey for over a decade. He understands a family's love for their pet as well as the budget involved. We have never had the finesse and compassion demonstrated by Dr. Bailey when we had to put our dog down with our young daughter. He was subtle and caring..... asking us memories of our beloved dog as she slipped away to Rainbow Bridge. He has always been there for our furry animal members of our family. We took our puppy here for his first vet appointment, and Dr.Horton was sooo good. Puppy was comfortable with her and he was so much as ease. The office was clean, the baby weighing scale was a bit dirty but Dr.Horton was quick to spot that, but the clinic was clean and spotless (besides that). We're definitely making this our pet clinic! Dr. Bailey is wonderful - very loving, kind and gentle when a parent has to decide whether to euthanize their animal. I wouldn't go anywhere else. He and his staff helped me through the euthanization process of two Maine Coons and now my daughter and son-in-law's Manx that had to be euthanized yesterday. He is sensitive yet practical and understands the concern, love and attachment that pet parents have for their pets. We hope to start a new relationship soon with another cat - never being able to replace those that were lost to illness but knowing we can make a difference in one or two more that are out there needing a home! I'm not really a cat person and currently do not have any pets of my own. I recently found a stray cat in my neighborhood and wasn't sure the best way to go about finding her owners. I called Cary Veterinary Hospital and they were so pleasant and helpful. They truly care about each and every animal that comes through their doors. They let me borrow a cat carrier, scanned the lost kitty for a microchip, and helped me contact her owners. Thank you for everything! In our first experience we came to get a vaccination in order to board our dog elsewhere, they were the best value for the shot and didn't require all kinds of extra exams and fees just to get the shot. Very friendly and helpful. Upon bringing our dog there to get the shot we found out that they board as well and I wish we would have just used them the first time. The other place we brought him was not to our liking. So this past weekend we boarded our dog with them. They were friendly with us and with our dog. Even asked about the commands we use with him and showed us where he would be boarding. The kennels are nothing fancy, but they have adequate bedding and the staff is friendly. This put my mind at ease while our boy was visiting them for the weekend. Also, they take them outside multiple times on a leash walk in their fenced in yard at no extra charge to the boarding fee. We just moved to the area and need to get our dog updated on vaccines prior to boarding.  Cary Vet was recommended by several moms on a local FB moms page so I gave them a try.  The front desk was welcoming, vet was very knowledgeable and friendly.  And best of all they reviewed our dog's medical history and confirmed my thoughts that our previous vet had upsold me on a lot of unnecessary vaccines and boosters especially for a 11/2 year old dog.  We ended up getting a checkup, fecal test, heart worm test, a couple of vaccines (that were necessary), and best of all the bill was 1/2 what it would have cost us at our old vet.  We will be trying them for boarding over the Christmas holidays since we weren't happy with where we boarded him over Thanksgiving.  And also, the boarding price was definitely more reasonable compared to NJ prices, literally 1/2.  Amazing! While the staff is very friendly, they did very little to help my very sick pets. I adopted two kittens from the SPCA and they both ended up with upper respiratory infections and conjunctivitis. They kept passing the infections back and forth but the vet would never put both on antibiotics to treat them both so the passing would stop. They blamed this on the vaccination that my oldest cat had that should have prevented this. After about 3 months and over $2,500 in vet bills, my cats got so sick I thought they were going to die. I gave up on CVH and tried a new vet and the new vet was shocked to see how sick they were. Their eyes were swollen shut and both had glands in their neck that were 3 times the normal size. The new vet was smart and gave them both antibiotics that cleared it all up in 3 days. The new vet also mentioned to me that my pets looked as if they had been neglected. On top of the infections they had untreated worms that got out of hand as well. To make matters worse, CVH didn't keep clear records of what vaccinations my kittens got, so they had to do them all again.  This cost me another fortune. I would never recommend CVH because they failed to treat a simple illness that is so common among adopted pets. I left that vet feeling robbed and hurt. Read Less

I just discovered Cary Veterinary Hospital - and I wish I had years ago! I brought in my 14 year old cat for a general check-up, vaccines, and to get reassurance for flying with her in a few weeks. (I had gone to a different hospital prior, and they lost all of my kitty's records!) Dr. Horton & staff made me feel very comfortable and totally reassured me! They made my kitty feel as comfortable as possible. If I wasn't moving across the country in a few weeks I would be coming back to Dr. Horton regularly. I highly recommend Cary Veterinary Hospital! I recommend Dr. McCann without hesitation. He is extremely calm (which helps our nervous pets) and his clinical knowledge is top notch. It's obvious he's got a great deal of experience. On our most recent visit, we took our cat and dog to him. Our cat just needed vaccinations and nail trim, but our dog was the toughy. He has shown increasing separation anxiety over the past year and we haven't been able to find a solution. Dr. McCann listened carefully to what we were experiencing, did a couple of test of our dog's eye's and ears, and then explained why it was likely our pooch was getting more tense with age as his sight and hearing became less acute. He patiently walked us through the treatment options and gave advice for helping him adjust.He's just a pro, that's all there is to it. It's a bit of a drive for us to get to him, but it's well worth it. I always leave feeling like Dr. McCann cares about our pets and has given them the very best care and attention.
