Having recently moved from the Chicago/Milwaukee area to Cary, I was in need of finding a respectable/competent/friendly/reasonably priced vet for my almost 9-year old dog. His vet in Milwaukee at Silver Spring Wellness Center was probably my favorite in terms of how she approached the practice of medicine, particularly for senior dogs, so after some careful searching, I decided to give Chatham Animal Hospital a try.Location: 4 out of 5Laugh all you want, and it's warranted, but since I do live close to Bond Park in Cary, finding a vet that's within a 8 - 10 minute drive right off of Chatham was pretty clutch. They're sort of hidden on Oceana Place, and parking is free and ample. They even provide poop bags in case your creature needs to defile the property (or needs a fecal sample). Front of House Customer Service: 4.5 out of 5The two guys that worked up front on the day I took my dog in (Percy and James) were really great. Friendly, warm, and punctual to get my dog all set for his vet visit. Remarkably, or perhaps not, the only person that was a bit off putting, and maybe it was just out of context, was the gentleman who I presumed to be the practice manager. At one point, within earshot of other customers in the lobby, it sounded like he was whining or prattling on about how "even though he wasn't a fully trained veterinary assistant, he could still do SOME things to help." Again, this was taken out of context in one moment when the door in the lobby to the rest of the practice was open, so if he was really whining or not, I really don't have a clue. It does bring up a good point about using discretion when speaking within earshot of customers, however. In the grand scheme of things, not that big of a deal to me. Vet and Vet Assistant: 5 out of 5Dr. Bailey and TJ were great with Yukon. I like to think that it helps when I warned them about things he doesn't like and things he might be sensitive or snappy at. Even when Yukon put his little teefuses into Dr. Bailey's hands when he went in for an ear exam (and therefore, had to wear the soft muzzle of shame), Dr. Bailey brushed it off, didn't say anything, and continued to be the utmost of professional, kind, and thorough. TJ was a really great help too, as the dog can be a little crotchety sometimes. Having her there to pet him and assure him that everything was ok made me feel better, and probably made the dog feel a little better as well. A few specific notes:For having a strong dentistry background, I was surprised when Dr. Bailey didn't try to push a teeth cleaning. Our vet in Chicago was a little bit more aggressive in her preferred treatment, but our vet in Milwaukee noted that with brushings every other day with enzymatic toothpaste, he'd be fine even if there were slight staining on the teeth. Dr. Bailey concurred, so the lack of an upsell was nice.Dr. Bailey WAS firm in his belief that Frontline Plus is not as effective against fleas and ticks here in NC, and since I had seen a few anecdotal reviews stating as such, I was fine taking the suggestion that I should put my dog on Bravecto. Dr. Bailey was fine with continuing the generic version of HeartGuard Plus (Iverhart). Value: 5 out of 5For the yearly exam, 3 year rabies vaccine, 6 month Bordatella, 4DX screening, Poop screening, 3 year distemper, and 1 year Lepto, the damage came out to almost exactly 200$ with a new customer coupon. Much cheaper than in Chicago or Milwaukee, so no complaints here. Overall: 5 out of 5Great experience all around. Read Less
