We have been taking our senior pup Gracie to Dr. G for about a year now and couldn't be happier! We just got her teeth cleaned (she has pretty bad periodontal disease) and I haven't seen her teeth this clean since she was a puppy. I recently acquired a 4 week old kitten from a friend who couldn't keep her. We have another cat at home and I knew I was equipped to take this on. I was a little nervous not knowing exactly what I was dealing with as she was found in a sewer. I called Parkway and was able to get an appointment quickly. I had to drop her off since the appointment was during my work time but it was no trouble at all. When I picked her up I had a thorough meeting with Dr. Smith about what she found in the exam and she went into great detail to answer all the questions I had regarding having a kitten this young! Customer service was excellent and it is very apparent that everyone who works there truly loves their jobs and loves their patients like their own pets! My daughter a couple moved to NC a couple of years ago with her nine-year-dog, Tigger. The entire family loves Tigger! Well, I researched NC Vets and decided to bring Tigger (seemed to have bad dental problems) to Parkway Animal Hospital in Cary, NC where we met Dr. Katie Smith.  What a fantastic find! Dr. Katie is professional, friendly, caring and highly qualified. The staff was very friendly and compassionate as well. Fast forward post Tigger's surgery (removed approx. 28 teeth). He is now acting like a puppy. We were all very worried about Tigger but are so very relieved that Dr. Katie did a fantastic job on 'our boy.' I cannot speak highly enough about this facility! The entire staff from reception to vet techs to actual veterinarians have been so amazing in the 6 months that I have been bringing my dog. They saw her as a 10 week old puppy and were so thorough in the first few visits making sure that I knew what they were doing and why. They have taken the time to educate me as well. My dog just recently broke her leg, and they have exceeded all expectations when it comes to her care- including answering any and all questions and accommodating multiple visits and phone calls. I have being taking my Shih Tzu here for 10.75 years and I would highly recommend Parkway to anyone looking for a vet. I have seen Maxine and she is my favorite Vet so loving and caring for all the animals. I have also see Katie and she is great as well. They call and check on my doggie when he has been sick. The incredibly capable and compassionate staff of Parkway Animal Hospital recently saved the life of my beloved kitty, Prana, who suffered an acute onset of hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease.) This disease is extremely serious and is often fatal without immediate and aggressive veterinary intervention. We weren't really happy with the previous vet; so a friend recommended Parkway. My senior cat and I had a wonderful experience there; and they did all they could to ease the stress of her having to go to the vet :-) I especially liked how I was invited into a room immediately upon arrival so I could close the door and minimize the stress for my cat. My cat received lots of caring attention, the team there was very patient and thorough. I appreciated the follow up calls and especially the fact that the vet, herself called to explain test results. Once again, Dr Gilvey has exceeded my expectations and has provided the best care for my old puppy. She walked me through the exam for an eye infection and seemingly cracked tooth that would require removal. She stayed late that evening to run some last minute blood work and called me that night with the results - then again the next afternoon after the surgery. Poor Shadow didn't need her tooth pulled after all, but if it had been any other vet, it would have come out for lack of 1) caring 2) thoroughness. I would never consider going anywhere else, especially after the dreadful mess another vet in town left my poor dog in years back that Dr. Gilvey had to correct. For those that may balk at a seemingly higher price than other vets in the area, there is only 1 thing I can say - you get what you pay for.Read Less

My best friend buddy has been a patient of Parkway Animal Hospital since 2004. In May of this year he fell very sick and we were told at a 24 hour facility that he would pass away during the night. We were destroyed. During the night my family watched his every breath. To our surprise he made it through the night. We called Parkway the very minute they opened and were told to come right in. When we got there everyone was so understanding and kind. We spoke to Dr. Gilvey and made a plan to try and save Buddy. Each day was a milestone and Buddy survived each one. During the course of the next 7 months Dr. Gilvey and her staff treated Buddy and encouraged our family to have faith and hope. Every day that was difficult, they made it better. To say the least they were our angels. They not only treated Buddy with medicine but they treated my family with compassion, comfort and hope. Their dedication to animals is incredible. They value the life of our pets just as we do. Now in the month of November, seven months after Buddy was told he would not make it, he was released from all medicine and we were told to take a deep breath and enjoy him. I just had yet another fantastic experience with Dr. Gilvey.  Our 4 yo dog has had repeated issues with lameness over the last 2 years and I was not happy with a vet closer to home who kept treating the problems when they came up, but never searched for underlying issues.  I have been with Parkway for probably 16 years, but tried to save time closer to home.  Although the issues are likely going to be permanent, I now know that with further evaluation, Blaze can be a happy, healthy dog for a very long time.  I hate to think of how much worse the problems and possible arthritis could have been if I had continued where I was.  Dr. Gilvey and all the others, never make me feel rushed.  They take the time for a very extensive evaluation and give me full explanations along the way.  While there is no "cure" if this is displaysia, there are certainly many treatments and I am so thankful to know that I can start right now to help Blaze!  Thanks Parkway! When my cat was diagnosed with kidney failure, I went there for a second opinion and found the most amazing, caring staff I could have ever hoped to find. All treatment options were discussed with me as well as pros and cons for each. Once I understood his illness was terminal, they gave me all the time I needed and also gave me a shoulder to cry on. They taught me how to give home treatments and even discussed the painful issue of when to say goodbye to my cat. In the end I took him there for his last vet visit and again, they gave me all the time I needed to say goodbye. About a week later, I got a card in the mail signed by all the staff saying how sorry they were about his passing. They really got to know my cat and I as we spent so much time there. I would have never considered taking him anywhere else. Sad story aside, Parkway Animal Hospital is clean, up to date, makes education a priority and maintains a professional atmosphere.Read Less
