Excellent veterinary care. Dr. Pineda has always been extremely thorough and spent a lot of time explaining results to me. My small dog goes to daycare twice a month and he enjoys it. After the first daycare visit we got a report card and photo which we really liked. I was really pleased with the art we got to take home after paint day and B looked like he was having a great time. The entire staff was friendly, polite, and genuinely enjoyed our dogs. The vet respected our wishes and personalized treatment plans according to the lifestyle of our dogs. Dogwood Veterinary Hospital has been wonderful to our family. They cared first for my 18 year old Lhasa Apso, Ambaasador, the staff and doctors extended her quality of life with gentle groomings and limited medical interventions and kept her healthy until her passing last May. That was a difficult time for me and my family, but the staff and doctors were incredibly sensitive to all our needs and helped Ambassador pass peacefully, and helped us heal from our loss . Now they have taken great care of our new guy, Noble, a Havanese, His wellness visits are done promptly & professionally, and he loves his groomings.. My dog had surgery for bloat at an emergency hospital. She was not doing well the day after being discharged from the hospital so I took her here since this was our regular vet.  Dr. Sands examined my dog and told me to watch her overnight.  Had I listened to her my dog would have been dead.  I immediately took her back to the animal hospital where she had surgery because something just seemed terribly wrong.  She had peritonitis and could have died. Be careful if your animals go here and are very sick.I expect Dr. Sands is OK with preventative care but seemed uncomfortable with this emergency.  Also, they are quite pricey. Read Less

For several years we have taken our four-legged family members here for the holidays for boarding and puppy camp. We have always felt comfortable with the facilities which are clean and updated, the staff which is friendly and knowledgeable. We have never worried about our animals because there is a veterinary clinic on site. There are wagging tails and prancing pause coming and going. Read Less

My pets think Dogwood is their second home.  Never happy to see me when I pick them up. The staff are wonderful and they have daily daycare that is awesome. The boys come home after daycare and sleep for 2 days straight.  You can pamper your pet at dogwood. Definitely a must. Read Less

This review is just for the daycare portion...The staff is amazing! I feel completely comfortable leaving my puppy knowing she will be well cared for during the day. I have a giant breed puppy and she is completely unaware of her size. She stepped on the foot of a smaller dog and got a nip on the nose. She was looked over by the Dr. working and was given appropriate treatment. I was notified immediately at pick up and the Dr. came out to speak to me about it as well.  I really appreciated the concern both for my feelings and my puppy who, is still learning about "personal space." They have a great package deal that you can use at your own discretion because your days do not expire. They have a wonderful indoor play space for inclement days as well as a nice outdoor space. The staff seem to have as much fun as the animals they are caring for which really makes a difference. The price is a little expensive compared to some other places I checked but, the difference is the level of carers and the type of activities performed. On my puppy's next daycare visit, she will be participating in a paint activity where the dogs make art. This doesn't seem to just be a turn them outside to run and bring them in to kennel for a break place. The staff really engage and play with the dogs. Having a growing giant puppy, I do this once a week right now for added socialization and to burn off some of that puppy energy. Bottom line...I absolutely recommend Dogwood Daycare! We called with a veterinary problem and were transferred to speak to the medical director within 5 minutes of placing the call. This location was not even our vet (we had never seen them before!) They listened calmly & offered advice and suggested a treatment plan for our problem with our dog. We were so relieved because we had great difficulty with our dog's health issue & did not receive a good treatment plan from our prior vet. Their vet and all of the rest of the staff has shown great professionalism and care for our family and for our dog and we could not think of going anywhere else. We have heard that they might be more expensive but our experience in comparing to another nearby vet is that the prices are similar. Read Less

The service at Dogwood is phenomenal. Our dog loves going here, and we do too! Every person you encounter at Dogwood is extremely personable. I love Heather, the groomer! She takes very good care of my dog and does an excellent job. The front desk people are also really friendly and professional. I've been taking my pup here for over a year now and they are the absolute best. The staff genuinely cares about the well-being of your pet and they've all been wonderfully friendly. The staff at Dogwood Day Care is superb and has exceeded my expectations consistently in quality of service and in personal engagement with my pup. Under the loving care of these warm and competent professionals, my initially shy and submissive rescue puppy has grown into a confident, playful, affectionate and well-socialized dog in just a few months. As a busy working adult, I cannot take credit for my pup's wonderful manners, which apparently she learned from the staff at Dogwood. Additionally, each day I have the great satisfaction of knowing that while I work, my pup is not only supervised and exercised but also given affection, socialization, and great care. I have been taking my two dogs to Dogwood for daycare twice a week for 1.5 years. The daycare service has been a lifesaver. Not only do my dogs get ample exercise, they get socialized with other dogs and humans. That part has been invaluable for my uber-shy, people-weary Australian Shepherd. They have made tremendous strides in bringing her out of her shell. All the front-desk staff and resort staff are phenomenal, and you can tell they genuinely love their doggy clients. I also have no qualms about boarding my dogs here, since the dogs know everyone, and consider Dogwood as their second home. Vet services may seem a little expensive, but they are comparable to other vet clinics in Chapel Hill. It's just a pricey area, I guess. Read Less

So happy that I found Dogwood 2 years ago when I moved to Chapel Hill! ALL of the staff including the doctors, vet techs, groomers and front desk staff are so friendly and truly care about my pets and seem to love their job. I board my Golden Retriever at Dogwood several times per year when we travel and he is always so happy when we pull up and to see the staff! The boarding facilities are my favorite part, as they are very clean, adorably decorated and I know my dog will be staying in a large "suite" rather than in a cage. After coming to Dogwood, I could never board my sweet boy anywhere else!Read Less

Wow - unbelievable. We are new to the area and wanted to try this place for boarding our dogs. We found out they are the most expensive place around - but thought still the dogs would be well taken care of. A tour of the facility suggests otherwise. Small kennels - VERY noisy inside. Extremely expensive add ons - which would be the only way your dog got any exercise. No day care on the weekends and a very small window for pick up. Plus no multi-dog discount. But still we were going to try it. Then we had to cancel our trip 36 hours before leaving. When I called I was informed I would loss my almost 200 dollar deposit and that I was "lucky" it wasn't more. They apparently require a 3 day cancelation. That of course was not explained to me or provided in writing. I did respond by laying we would not be using them again if this is the case. Then as I went to ask a question about a bill for another service they provide the woman hung up the phone on me. They need to learn if you want to bill concierge prices - you need to provide concierge services. That means more flexibility and LOTS more customer focus. As it is now - it is just one big money grab- go find somewhere else to give your money. Read Less

Worst groomer ever!!!!!! What she did to my dog is just short of abuse. She tells you your dog has mats so she had to take off all the coat and returns to you a hairless , traumatized dog covered with nicks. I dropped off the dog at 8:15 am. I told her that the dog had mats on the chest and under the ears and to cut those out but just trim the rest.  She leaves me a message at 3:30, which I didn't hear until too late, that she has just taken a look at my dog and it will have to be shaved all over. Since I was scheduled to pick the dog up at 4:45, I know she never intended to groom my dog because it takes more than an hour and a quarter to wash, dry and clip a large furry dog.  I have heard she has given the same story to other dog owners. Don't believe it she is just too busy or lazy to do a decent job on large dogs with a lot of fur. Read Less

They may be a little higher than most, but are well worth the cost and value to me. They take better care of your "children" than any other vet I have found. They have ALWAYS given my 2 "children" the best service and care compared to the other vets in town. Read Less
