We brought our pup there to stay overnight because it was more convenient and close to where we work. When we arrived, we were met with a smiling associate but the place must have been disorganized because it took her about 10 minutes to find the vaccine paperwork sent over from our regular vet and about another 10 minutes for them to come and get her from us. Luckily we allowed enough time so that we weren't late for work. We came in expecting to pay a nightly stay fee and a regular entry exam because they have never seen her before. Then we received a call at work saying that during her exam, they noticed that her urine was cloudy and that they needed to do a urine dialysis which would be about $26. This was said over the phone. Because they sounded urgent like something was wrong, we, being new puppy parents, thought that an extra $26 was ok to test the urine. Our pup was completely fine and the urine came back normal. The next day when we went to pick her up and the bill ended up being $44 for the urine dialysis. I'm upset because we didn't budget more than $50 for everything and ended up spending about $86. I feel like we were tricked and preyed upon. Of course we want the best for our pup, but I think telling us one price on the phone and then basically doubling the price is unfair, I think that if they told us that it would be $44 on the phone, we probably would have asked a few more questions about her behavior, if she was acting strange or lethargic etc to make a better decision on whether to have them test it. To me it's like going to get your oil change expecting to pay 40 and then all the sudden you need to replace your filter, windshield wipers etc. My dog is not a car, she is a member of my family and I don't like being jerked around and tricked into paying for things that she doesn't need. Also, I was expecting to learn more about how she was while she was there, being a first time client, I wanted to know how she reacted and interacted with other dogs, people etc. Being a puppy, I want to make sure she gets the best care possible as well as learn about how I can be a better trainer and puppy parent for her. She is a great dog but I know she still has a few things we can curb as she continues to mature and grow. They did not give me any information which I felt was a little disconcerting. I've learned my lesson. I will not be going back to Falconbridge, I will make other arrangements with my regular vet, Brentwood Animal Hospital, whom is amazing and honest and genuine.Maybe in the future, I would suggest putting things in writing, like an email or text, instead of saying things over the phone, might lessen the miscommunication and or clarify the procedures being done.
