Vca Legion Road Animal Hospital

Chapel Hill, North Carolina
General Info
VCA Legion Road Animal Hospital helps families from Chapel Hill and other nearby North Carolina areas develop a multifaceted approach to veterinary care based on trust, sensory observation, and stability. The first visits are all about comfort and allowing the pet to roam around, inspect, and express themselves in their own way. Before the hands-on examination can be performed, veterinary assistants and technicians need to pay close attention to subtle details such as the eye and tail position, changes in how the dog walks, and any pressure-related responses. Physical exams encompass joint tracking, weight and hydration monitoring, and assessments of gum tone, coat texture, and thermal regulation. The owner is to write down morning events and routines together with sleep cycles while also noting the trends in barking and recent behavior changes. VCA Legion Road Animal Hospital provides several medical programs aimed at both the short-term and long-term health of pets. The programs are for sudden cases, surgical procedures, and seasonal or chronic illnesses. Support encompasses lab testing, imaging referrals, infection prevention, senior animal protocols, and emotionally informed recovery checklists. The way plans are organized is deliberate (i.e., step-by-step) so that the owner knows exactly what to expect without getting overwhelmed. This is extremely helpful if multiple pets or complicated medical issues need to be addressed. The core of communication is key. Post-visit notes get automatically sent after each appointment. Follow-ups are done on an as-needed basis, not a set schedule. It allows owners to identify the subtle signs of regression and the key indicators that a dog is advancing to the next stage. Long-term care also employs methods of pacing, choice-based scheduling, and reassurance. VCA Legion Road Animal Hospital executes its services by examining animal behavior and family communication throughout Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to ensure the stability and consistency of care plans from start to finish. Services offered at VCA Legion Road Animal Hospital include Puppy and Kitten Care, Dermatology, Avian (Bird) Care, Telehealth, Dental Care, Allergy Testing, Nutritional Counseling, Microchipping, Homeopathy and Bloodwork. This range of veterinary services enables local pet owners to access various levels of care, from basic checkups to more complex medical procedures on their pets. The clinic has been a trusted resource in the Chapel Hill area because it offers services that aim to promote a lifetime of health and wellbeing.

Care of cats, dogs and other pets. Dr. Walters, DVM and Dr. Ewart, DVM are excellent diagnosticians and I have been very impressed with the quality of care my cats and a neighbor's dog receive. The staff are friendly, helpful and very professional. The technicians are gentle with the animals which had not been my experience with an animal clinic I had used previously in the area. You can tell that everyone at VCA Legion Road Animal Hospital love animals and work with the owners to give the highest quality of personalized care to the furry members of your family. Recently my roommate and I brought his dog in to see the vet because the dog had become dangerously aggressive with the two other dogs in the apartment. Dr. B was incredibly rude and presumptuous. We had spent the last year trying to find a solution to this dog aggression, but had not been successful. Dr. B acted as though we were incompetent and had not tried a thing. His "solutions" were ridiculous, unless of course you had enough money to hire a personal dog trainer or a spacious house with different areas that each dog could occupy. After trying to explain that we didn't have those resources, he said that keeping the aggressive dog in a crate all day was a good solution. Dr. B showed no regard for the quality of life of any of the three dogs nor respect or compassion for the heartbroken and desperate dog owners. He was condescending, arrogant, and rude! I have had animals all my life and never had such a deplorable experience with a veterinarian! I would, however, like to say that when the Vet Tech, Becky, was with us alone, she provided us with very useful and helpful information in a compassionate and professional manner. Dr. B would benefit from taking a few lessons from Becky!!! When a pet owner is desperate and heartbroken over their animals, they should at the very least feel supported and safe consulting with their vet. Apparently, Dr. B doesn't feel the same!Read Less

particularly Dr. Jennifer Fernandez. I used to take my dogs there until I discovered that they had no clue about my animals or their records. They called in one for a rabies shot and when I pointed out that he had just gotten a booster, she replied, "oh well, things happen". I found out that the records they had of my dogs were in complete disarray. After I left I had a scare with the dogs getting into tylenol. I took them back because it was an emergency. She again showed little empathy towards me or the dogs, and when I went back for a follow up test and she made me wait 20 minutes she told me not to come back. They are about the money, not the animals.Read Less
