We have been taken our three dogs to Dr. Redman for almost two years and did varieties of procedures including wellness check-up, vaccine boost, deworm, heart worm treatment, allergy test, dental cleaning, and potential tumor diagnose. Dr. Redman, the primary vet in this clinic, is a smart, experienced and down-to-earth vet who does not waste any of your time and money. His old-school style is not only practical but almost...charming. We and our pups always have a pleasant time visiting his clinic.
Here are a few things he does to make our life easy:
1. Q&A on the phone without charge:
When we have doubt we are encouraged to call first. It saves the appointment fee (which is ~$45), and more importantly, our time and his time. He sometimes makes suggestions on treatment we can do at home, which ended up working multiple times. We also do all of our heartworm preventative prescription on the phone.
2. Walk-in and Pick-up without appointment fee:
Dr. Redman offers walk-in between 10AM-1PM, six days a week for shots and prescription pick-up. If it is just booster shots or annual deworm treatment, we can come in during the hour and get it done in a few minutes. And again we do not need to pay the appointment fee.
3. Good record keeping and reminder in timely manner:
The information of pets are cross referenced to their owners' names in the clinic, so they are aware other pets you have when you call about one pet. And they do make an effort on synchronizing regular visits for different pets to save owner's time. When we got a new dog last year, they recommended to bring the dog in for the first round treatment/check-up when we came in to get the annual shots for another dog, so their schedule can be synchronized and we only need to come in with both dogs once a year. We also get reminders about all the shots in mail 2~3 weeks ahead of time.
4. Relatively cheap and no sales:
$45 per visit (if you need to see Dr. Redman) is cheap. If we do have an acute condition, this is not a price we will hesitate on. Dental cleaning for our 10-year-old westie, who never had a cleaning and has been on wet food, is ~$160. We got quote for 3~4 times as much elsewhere, probably because most clinics do it under full anesthesia. And the result was great. I never tried their boarding service, but the price is very reasonable in the area. They do not send ads via email or mail, and we never feel pressured to buy anything when we were there. When the dogs are treated, Dr. Redman will not only list all the treatment options to let us choose, but also recommend the generic drugs first.
5. All the employees in the clinic are professional and nice. My dogs come in without fear and leave happily, with no negative feelings about vet. They are also quick - I almost never wait more than 5 minutes there for any procedure except the teeth cleaning.
We recommend him to everyone we know. I think good practice brings him enough business that he actually prefers getting each business done quickly and clean, just like our hospital should have done. His philosophy and approaches saved our money and his time. What a win-win. Surprisingly, he also spends enough time with us when needed without rushing into the next appointment. We just adore him.
